  • As a fan of ChloexHalle, I have been anticipating Chloë's debut album since Chloë announced she was working on her solo project. Over the last couple of years, Chloë has released singles such as "Have Mercy," "Treat Me," "Surprise," and "For the Night" featuring Latto. Unfortunately, none of those singles ended up making it onto Chloë's album, 'In Pieces' which was released in March 2023.
In the weeks leading up to the release of 'In Pieces' Chloë released the lead single "Pray it Away", and soon followed up by releasing "How Does it Feel" featuring Chris Brown. The album also includes features from Future and Missy Elliott.
In this video, I am going to briefly give my thoughts on every song and rate each one. Some of my personal standouts would be "Worried," "Body Do," "Feel Me Cry," and "Fallin 4 U."
Let me know in the comments what you think of Chloë's album, as well as her new movie Praise This!

Your commentary is exquisite, however, I believe Chloe is held to a higher standard than all the other R&B girls. Cut her some slack. The music was of good quality. Something that is lacking nowadays. Also, every keeps using this narrative that she needs to find her “sound”. I don’t believe this to be true, everyone wants her to be a certain way based on their own ideas. She’s doing her own damn thing. Beyonce doesn’t have a “sound”, neither does Rihanna. Both of them had a different sound with every project they released. I need ppl to stop being ridiculous and let this young lady thrive.

💯💯💯 It is INSANE how all of a sudden everyone is a producer and a talent manager😂😂People are so used to picking 2 songs the like and throwing everything else away that they have forgotten how to just put on an album and let it play. I have NEVER even seen these types of technical reviews for a Rihana or Adele album (cause neither of them is as good as Chloe😂)
It is the same thing that causes h8ers to pretend that off key, no dancing Rihanna is the queen of singing, but that BEYONCE is overrated😂 These people are absolutely ridiculous and they are desperate to find something to nitpick. If they didnt know that she wrote and produced this album herself, you KNOW all this goofy scrutiny about the storyline of the album, "production", and lyrics would be nowhere to be seen.
People who are themselves singers and musicians seem to be the ones who are truly able to see how good the album is. And folks who dont have all these silly ideas about who they think she is supposed to be dont have a problem just listening to it.
Anytime I hear someone talking about how she hasnt found her sound or doesnt know herself...as if THEY know who she really is or what her "sound" should be, I know they are projecting.
You KNOW if some lil alabaster girl had come out with this, folks would be celebrating. They will act like Ice Spice is the talent of a generation, but that Chloe needs to find herself (or fit into their ideas of her as 13 year old church girl/ social justice warrior/ feminists / lgbtq icon/ etc). She has truly brought the green eye in these mean girls and boys.

I definitely agree with you. Compared to other newer/younger artists, people are way harder on Chloe, but I think it is because of the type of music she was making in ChloexHalle and the image she had then vs. now so people have higher expectations. Overall, I thought the album was good,
Thank you so much for watching!

Loved your review! Very comprehensive and truthful, and I feel similarly too! Honestly, this album had to grow on me, as upon first listen, I kinda thought this album was trash ngl bar a few songs. After the divine intro and Pray it Away (which I really liked), the album just kinda went meh for me. Over time tracks did grow on me like I Don't Mind, but overall I feel many of the songs were either mid or not that interesting. My favorites off this project are Cheatback, Pray It Away and In Pieces, while I really dislike songs like Told Ya' and Worried (idk why people like that too much, cuz i don't see it lol)
Also, as a sidenote, I kinda feel Chloe's career was steered in the wrong direction right from the beginning. Despite Have Mercy being her most successful song, I feel releasing that song was a wrong move as it sounds more of a quick hit you'd expect a one hit wonder would release rather than an artist hoping to achieve longevity, and it certainly didn't help that Treat Me kept the same vibe with Have Mercy and didn't connect with audience as much. She should have released For the Night as her first song, considering it's the most classic R&B song she had that time with a possible crossover appeal that caters to both her fans and general listeners.
As for the singles of this project, while I do like Pray It Away, it was the wrong choice. I feel that Cheatback could have been the first single as it sounded unique with its stripped back acoustic sound while also being radio-friendly and sing-a-long-y. It also fits and is the perfect starting point for the story she was telling through her project and interviews where she talks about going through emotional turmoil regarding past relationships and stress. Then she could have released Body Do, Pray It Away as a promo single before the album dropped, How Does it Feel, then close out the era with In Pieces. I like her going out on the promo with this record, but I feel like it won't do her any good commercially, which is a shame as she really deserves tons of success!
Well, at least she finally got a project out, though I hope the underperformance of this album won't make her label have doubts on releasing her sophomore album later on.

I agree with all of your points. Above all, Chloe should be proud of herself. It is not easy to release an album, but she was able to release the album that she wanted. Though In Pieces may not be critically acclaimed, it is only her debut album and everyone knows she will have a very long and fruitful career. As a side note, I enjoyed her movie Praise This.
      Thank you for watching!

Congratulations! Ms. Chloe Bailey! Album is FIRE!!!. Right/Wrong - expressing yourself on your own terms. It's your journey, nobody's else. Make decisions how you want to express yourself - your own, not folks who wants to lock you into an image that works for them. You are a very beautiful, gifted, talented and gorgeous young woman. I am here for all of your God given human expressions and journeys. Btw, trolls need to get some love and joy into their own lives. 🙂❤❤❤

After listening to your review on 90s retread, FLO, vs your criticisms of this project, I cant take you seriously😂 My guess is that if you didnt know that Chloe wrote and produced the album herself, you wouldnt have a word to say about production and lyrics. 🙄 This album is a masterpiece 🔥

It was a good album, and as I prefaced in the video, I am a huge fan of ChloexHalle snd have known that they write and produce most(if not all) of their music.
      Thanks for watching!
