Hi Bria! Loved your considerate review (maybe you should work for pitchfork 😂) The intro was from the beginning of her VMAs performance of Have Mercy. It's a sample/interpolation of a song her grandpa used to sing to her call Swamp Song, she said. Girl, you, me, same. First listen I was only feeling a few of the new songs. Upon further listens, it's certified platinum in my African American home already. Not too many people caught that double entendre in Feel Me Cry 🤭 . This is going to be a book, sorry! My top 3: Told Ya, Body Do, In Pieces, but I love them ALL (they're growers). I'm convinced that some people are just more open to new sounds and artist experimentation because the way Told Ya is the blue or white dress of songs is crazy, a lot of people hate it. That song is a banger to me, no question, from when she played the snippet last summer and now fully developed, even better 🤷🏽‍♀️

She put the intro in the VMAs performance which they have since taken down. There's a video where you can hear the audio from the performance but just can't see it.
