You passed up a few good pieces of furniture that only needed a coat of paint. And the chairs with the cat fur, all you have to do is remove the old fabric and replace it with new fabric, it's an easy fix.
I have been searching for a desk like that for over a year. With some restoration and repair, I could easily sell that for at least $900, probably more.
That thing is called a arbor that you walk through. The toboggan gets wet in the snow so it would have been just fine. Those nice chairs could have been reupholstered in your living room. You left a lot of bank on the curb.
You go through the trouble of driving around but you won't take an afternoon to fix a 100 or old piece or reupholster chairs?!?! But u really got a doozy of a dresser! Ugh!
Unfortunately I currently live in a condo that doesn’t allow me to work on furniture there. I mostly sell my furniture to other flippers in a supplier role. But you’re right, I wish I could!
Good Morning I have just come across you on RUclips. I love your channel and it’s educational too. I have to say I find hilarious all the people who have opinions on what you take what you leave. I think it’s safe to say you know what you are doing😊 you find some really unique pieces. I can’t wait to see any piece you up cycle or repair before selling. Thanks so much for the enjoyment I get from your channel. Greetings from Ireland☘️
Thank you. I appreciate you saying all of that. I understand why some people may think I should take certain things, but at the end of the day I only have so much space and so much time on my hands. I hope you continue to watch my videos!

Near O'Hare airport. I'm 74, only check 2 dumpsters. I've gotten Murano glass, new appliances, paintings, art supplies, books, and more. I use what I need and pass the rest to people who can use the items. I don't sell. Tina, Al's wife
The desk is 1940s. Re doing veneer is not that hard. And re doing chair cushios are the easiest thing to do and only takes minutes. Should have taken them.
You simply don't know where the money lies. How long does it take to put a gazillion old tapes that most people cannot even watch (meaning a much smaller buyers pool)? Flipping furniture makes coin. Rent a studio for a few days to DIY the pieces. And, some of those boxes had some finds. If you're going to do this get out there early and give yourself ample time. I'm a NY'er. We are pickers by design. I've found pricy art, jewelry and knickknacks that I sold to collectors.
I understand where you’re coming from, however, the tapes took up a lot less space than some of the furniture and have already sold two of them for $40 each on eBay with no work other than pictures and shipping.
Understandable. That’s just not my business. I’m looking to sell this stuff as-is to other flippers at a wholesale price. I know what people are going to buy in my area. Items like the desk and the chairs are nice, but I’m going to get so many lowball offers due to the damage, it’s just not worth my time. In a perfect world, these items wouldn’t be being thrown out in the first place. Thanks for giving me a shot though!

Those chairs are great and easy to reupholster.
We called them a gossip bench or telephone chair.
Something to keep in mind is that you could sell some of these items "AS IS" and let the buyer do the work.
That 100 year old dresser was worth it!
I can’t believe you left the antique desk. Excuses, Excuses. Could have been easily fixed

NEW sub !! Love what you do !! I dumpster dive on my channel I love saving stuff from the landfill also !!
Should have grabbed those green seat chairs. Re-upholstered and they could sell for a lot I'm sure.
Mid century on the dresser and end table fixable😮😮
If you run out of room. You could easily take something out of the van to do upgrade of an item.

Those were my thoughts too. I agree on the toboggan, and those green seats I'd reupholster. easy fix.
You passed up some good stuff.
There are lots of things you passed by that could be fixed. Elbow grease

@ChicagolandGarbagePicking keep doing it and there may be a time u will have the space to do some upgrades on what u find. Good luck!!!
Agreed. I would have bought that secretary desk as is for 100$ and flipped it myself.

That desk is called a secretary.
Love the desk!
You’re passing on big money!!!
I would have taken that green bench for the spindles & legs.
This must be your first time for doing this.
You needed to be there the day before, people start putting it on the curb Friday morning.
