@@saber8156 I highly doubt that, the terminal velocity of a bullet falling straight down will be way too little to cause any serious damage. I know, but Sherlock is, imo, a bit more pragmatic, using such an a thing just to call the police. A gunshot gets the message if importance and urgency across way better.
Holms was never the eccenric type though, he was always pragmatic and efficient. Knowing that police repond faster to gunshots than a simple 911 call (or I guess 999 since this is Britain).
The Constables: I thought we banned the shooty-shoots here?

for anyone wondering; shooting into the air is dangerous yes. Celebratory gunfire kills and injuries people all the time
Oops 😬 😅 my bad guys.
Unless Sherlock put the wrong ammunition, he's not stupid so he obviously loaded blanks to prevent from any incidents to occur from his supposed wreckless indirect aim.
JANUARY 1ST, 2024 EDIT: On 18th December 2023 posmotri corrected me his comment is below this.
gunfire has a higher fatality rate than being hit by a stray bullet with a relatively flat trajectory, because bullets from celebratory gunfire falls downwards and is more likely to hit you in the head (brain)
@@saber8156 I highly doubt that, the terminal velocity of a bullet falling straight down will be way too little to cause any serious damage. Celebratory gunfire is dangerous when people don't point straight up, but in an arch. Depending on how flat that arch is the bullet may come down with significant enough horizontal velocity to kill or injure. But if it's just falling down it will rarely cause significant damage
no he is talking about the chance of dying once the event has taken place, not the chance of the event in itself@@posmotri7722
