There's an old Jewish joke that's applicable here which Rich would appreciate. An Orthodox Rabbi is also a golf nut. On Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year (and a day when there are restrictions on what you can do), he snuck out to the golf course to play a quick 9 holes. On the 9th hole, the Rabbi swings the club, it connects with the ball, and a miraculous wind comes down, grabs the ball and plops it right into the hole for a hole in one. God's angels are around Him, and they complain, "Hey, this Rabbi is supposed to be praying in the synagogue for your forgiveness, and you give him the one thing he desires the most?!" God chuckles and just says, "So, who is he going to tell?"

I’ve had a few close calls at my home course. I always play alone so when I think I might, I pull out my phone and video my walk from the tee to the green. It has yet to pan out. 🙄

Also played a four-man best ball. Late fall tourney, hit a 2-iron on a 205-yard par 3. About 4 inches short right online.

I did a similar (with the 1st ball each time) thing twice at hole #3 Glenwood Springs GC (CO) this week. Missed the birdie putt both times but did make one par.
My hole in one is a whole other best story ever.

I had a similar problem yesterday. Lost my tee way right on a par 5, I re-tee it and end up getting fake eagle (what would have been my first) but I had to settle for the par. Tough look

It’s happened to me almost a dozen times….very near misses and still no hole in one.

Unfortunately Rich if you had made it, the best you can say is Great Par!

If you want to see determine who a person really is: take them for a round of golf. If they cheat: they cheat in life: if they compliment everyone, laugh, and have a great time: they are a genuinely good person. If they grow angry and frustrated: they cant handle pressure of a low stakes game/life on general. Treat golf like your life: be honest. Be true to yourself

I hit within about 2 feet of the hole on a par 3 in a tournament once so I didn’t have to be, nor could I be dishonest about it. Otherwise, had I been playing a round just to play, that one might’ve been written down as a hole in one. It ended up as a 2 and I led the team to a W.

My lone hole in one came on a 9-hole course playing with four clubs. I hit an 8-iron on a 135 yard par three both nines. First time I was about 2 inches short. The second time I got my ace. Slow autumn day in the clubhouse, I had to round up people to buy drinks.

I hit a hole in one on a par three course on the 1st hole right in front of the clubhouse. I must have been 15 or 16 at the time. Everyone was going crazy. I did not care much for golf and that was the only summer I played. My Uncle Jim was obsessed with golf and never hit a hole in one. I never let lt him forgt that I did.

I had a drive roll up and bounce off the pin, but that's as close as I ever got.
