He forgot to mention that it will float on It's left side with the right side air intake up. It can be swam across deep water and will start when you get to the other side. Also it can be purchased with PTO (Power Take Off) or a trailer hitch. It has a 2,000 pound towing capacity.
He showed the trailer hitch on his. PTO sounds damn handy though. I really liked the U turn using the kickstand for those times where the path does end.
I don't know how this came up on my recommended list, as I'm not into trail bikes, but I have to say it was one of the most informative and enjoyable videos about off-road related stuff that I've watched in a while. The pacing and style had me hooked from start to finish.
I sure miss my Rokon. I sold mine after 10 years as it was the two stroke model without the articulating front end and it was too noisy and bouncy for me. I have always planned on getting the four stroke version with the better front end someday. Love them as they go places nothing else can go.
The biggest defect of this design is no shocks on the rear. Shocks make a huge difference with comfort and traction. I ride mototrials in competition. One of the biggest differences of the new motorcycles and models 20 years ago is the shocks. As shocks improved so did the bikes ability to climb.
After watching this, makes me want to go out and purchase a Rokon. Oh yeah, I already have two Trail -Breakers. A++ on your excellent review. Heading into the Montana back country in the morning. Thank you!
That’s the best review I’ve ever seen of the Rokon. They used to have optional special tires that would allow the bike to actually float on water. Nothing can stop the Rokon until you run out of fuel.
Jakob I’m not sure if you have any experience on a rokon but I’m getting at least 10 hours of riding on a single tank. I’ve gone on multiple day trips loaded with gear and don’t bring any extra fuel. It runs very efficiently compared to my other bikes.
@@IntotheMountains Wow that's more than I expected for sure. I was going by a lawn mower-type estimate but the Rokon wouldn't be running wide open all the time like a lawn mower would be.
one of the best things about something like this is its simplistic reliability, yes modern bikes are most likely more reliable in general but because the engine on the rokon is so simple most issues can probably be patched up at the roadside.
outstanding review, mate, thanks for taking the time to share this cool bike...wish they were broadly available in Oz (and that i owned a property to ride one on!)...hope it's still going strong for you

Hi from Southeast Iowa USA. I've had the Scout for two years now and have had a lot of fun. After two months, I had carburetor problems, but the company sent me a free new carburetor and I had to send them the old one back. Also, the air filter sat crooked on the carburetor, which had me concerned, as the back chain kicked up mud and debris onto the air-cleaner cover. I remedied that by making a snorkel using radiator hose from a truck and put an air-cleaner on top of the snorkel. The air cleaner is a new breather for large engine for valve covers. It took some minor engineering, but a do-it-youselfer could figure it out. The service was excellent with the company. So even at 64, I'm still off-road and having fun. C-ya p.s. The Scout has no front suspension. I chose that model for less chain maintenance.
That’s great service and good tips there buddy, thanks for sharing. I might have to look into the snorkel. I’ve heard of a few guys doing the upgrade. Cheers mate 🍻
I had a friend who had one of these back in 1974 it actually had tractor tread tires on it, that thing was a beast it would get places that would blow your mind
Very professional review and photography. You could make commercials for the company. Closeups of mechanicals explain far better than talking about it. Love the kickstand feature as a fulcrum for spinning the bike. The log roll was very effective too as was the getting stuck in a hole!!
The two-wheeled tractor. Certainly a fantastic bit of engineering. Every RUclips Channel needs a stuntman. I don't know if I can afford such a Pro. Nice Job Azza.
We have one my dad bought for us in 1971 and it still runs and works perfect today.we use it every hunting season. These things will last forever if you take care of it. Also you can store 2.5 gallons of fuel or water in the rims. It’s sealed . We put fresh water in each of our wheels when we go hunting. Our older model hold a little over 4 gallons if I remember right. You can also float them in water on its side with air box carb side up
In 1995 I bought a brand new rokon ranger from the people who imported the argo swamp buggies in Rockhampton in central Queensland he imported only two and didn't get any more .I still have it today, both of the rokons he imported were prototypes with the first gx 160 Honda engines on them, fantastic machine still going strong today. 😊😊😊😊

Good review, and I didn't expect to be Australian when it came up in my feed. I was going to make some kind of statement about whats next an Argo review (which I thought might also be obscure in Aus.) but when I googled Argo to check if I was thinking the correct name, I find they are currently imported into Australia.

I never like the cruiser style forward pegs.... only because it makes it hard to stand up...(of course I am a trials rider) that said, my dad, who never really care for motorcycles had one and loved it, especially for hunting in Northern Maine... his towed out more than one big buck...
I've been looking at these for years here in Canada. They are very interesting and definitely have some application, although it's very muc a niche market. Some models allow for power equipment and even compressors to be run from the bike. Also, some come with hollow wheels that can accept fuel or water. The wheels, when empty, allow the bike to be "floated" for deep river crossings. The Israeli army use them for reconnaissance, to they can't be too bad. My ony beef with them is that for the money, you can get a decent quad/ATV and if you know how to ride one properly it will do more AND go faster than a ROKON. And if you know how to ride an ATV properly, steep slopes aren't an issue (including traverses), or you just pick a different line of approach. The one thing I like about the ROKON better than a quad is that they are far more portable. Where a quad will take up all or most of the room in your truck bed or on a trailer, the ROKON can sit sideays on a tow hitch carrier. Good piece of kit but it would be a second consideration after a quad if I had that kind of disposable cash.
Very cool, I live in Canada and I've heard of Rokon and a couple other 2WD motorbikes, and I always thought it would be great to own one, I've owned all kinds of offroad dirt bikes, but never a 2WD, it would be great, but not until my kids grow up, I just hope I'm not too old to really use one by then, great review anyways Buddy, u must be from Australia?? Not New Zealand I guess???

Cheers Chris. We love getting out there for an adventure. The sound track on the end was just some stock music on my software. I couldn’t tell you the name of it, just seemed to fit the mood 👍 thanks for watching
I agree Kerry. My drz and cr were just too tall for me when off track and I used to come off a lot. I rarely fall off this bike. It’s great handling in the ruff stuff 👍👍
I had one for eight years. Then old age and arthritis made me unstable on two wheels. Loved that bike. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Lol, they are pretty useless as far as cost-practicality.... I'd rather buy a nice ktm like you had in the video or get a couple little crf125 pit bikes for the same price. Everyone likes what they like tho, great vid
I hear you, but here that ktm is worth more than the rokon. Our pit bikes we love too but they can’t get up our hills or carry any load. Nice review. Good to hear the opinions of someone who actually uses the bike, rather than a professional journalist that only rides it for the test.
I don’t ride with my feet down much but see a lot of riders doing it. I’d say the rokon is a very niche bike, it suits my needs well and replaced the quad on the steep stuff. I still own a few other bikes for the fast and fun factor. Thanks for watching. Daz
Excellent Review! Thanks for making it.
You should review also the Taurus its very portable
Ive always wanted a Rokon. This is a very good video. New sub.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Got me interested in those bikes
same
I definitely want one but I'm curious to see where that thing can get to that my KLR can't
Great review Daz!! They look awesome
Cheers Jamie! They are beasts mate. It never ceases to amaze me what it can climb/carry or tow
Don't know if you already know, but you should look into Christini. They make 2wd dirtbikes.
Great review Daz 👌
Great bike Sir and thanks for your enthusiastic style from nz
Wow, great bike, and I wish i could go ride over there, looks so beautiful.
Nice review. Good to hear the opinions of someone who actually uses the bike, rather than a professional journalist that only rides it for the test. Too bad I had to stand on my head to view the video, since you filmed it down under, on the upside down part of the planet . . . which probably accounts for your funny speech! 🙃🤣🤠 Good on yeh, mate!
Great video and thank you for sharing it with us. Cheers from the US!
What are the 2 clamps on your handle bars used for?? TYVM!!! Great Video my friend awesome bike!!
Gun rack to hold a deer rifle
Stunning piece of engineering.
ROKON should send prospective buyers to your review. And you should get a cut of the sales. Your review is well done.
it looks like a dude just made it in his backyard using stuff fro the DIY shop xD
Great Vid...thanks. Do they not all come with the wheels that double as extra fuel and water storage?
