Nice review ! Yes the rear bar is stock, and normally when you use the button in the car to open the trunk, it's goes up a little so it's easy to pass your fingers. Got mine since 2016 now and I'm just beginning to modify it ! Lotus Elise rims, full exhaust from Malian ( sounds like hell) hardtop when the sun isn't there, p2 rear headlights... I've ordered the maxton side skirt and soon the TRD front lip ! I got some Jeep led headlight to put in the stock front headlight too ! Can't wait!
Second the trunk issue: the latch should pop the trunk up almost an inch when you open it. See if there’s an issue with the springs and get a replacement latch before they’re no longer available.
I havent driven either of those cars, but these mr2s handle so amazing that I couldn't imagine a miata or s2000 keeping up in the tight stuff. Thanks for watching!
@@darthtrader1027 If the mr2 made over 200hp I think it would be the ultimate backroad car. Good to know that I wasn't wrong in saying how good the handling was!
Really nice review. Going 2ZZ or turbo on 1ZZ costs the same but 2ZZ is more recommended, apparently it's because turbo spools from low RPM which is dangerous on apex. 2ZZ on the other hand has bigger RPM range that makes it safer, controlled and better on bends. Turbo will only be good in the straight lines and less chance of spinning in the corner. Just 2 cents!
Thank you! Unfortunately my brother sold this, but he's on the lookout for another. I agree that a 2zz is probably more usable, but turbos are always fun! 👌
In some cases they are more expensive. But this MR2 outperforms a miata in almost every way. I see many mr2s and miatas for the 5-10k range. And for that price i would rather have the mr2
@@evansautomotive307 Oh, absolutely. It's funny they weren't more popular, but the styling was really "love it or hate it." And I think a lot of people hated it. lol.
I bought one for handling and the fact that people don't like them. But it's strange because I keep getting compliments on the car.
I think they just look weird in pictures. I didnt really like the way it looked until i saw one in person. Have fun with the car!
Now that’s edgy

It absolutely is better than the miata and the S2000. Hands down.

@@evansautomotive307 ive driven all 3... was a big fan of the S2000, but i love my MR2 more. The Miata is lame...

2zz is far too expensive for what you get. It's not worth it unless you can't get the engine for $3k or less.
epic car dood
would like to see this more often
These are fantastic cars...but unfortunately, they aren't underrated by Toyota people. These are significantly more expensive than Miatas!
