As soon as I started watching this video I’ve decided I’ve got to redo my mr2’s headlights lol time to switch to the facelift headlights! Good idea on the chrome rings, those look amazing! Great job once again Spyderlee!
Noticed that the same hardware is on the Celica light assemblies, just in a different shaped house. Brought back the memories of Iwo Jima, fighting to get those cloudy oem lights off and the aftermarket ones on.
I can imagine, for example Celica lights aren't very perfect even an oem quality build. I guess since it's such an old vehicle the design is skewed, built is better than bought though. Also it looks as though Toyota decided to design both cars to have the front bumper removed for light repair, can't even touch the fog lamps on the Celica without ripping it off.
I'm not much of a body kit person, I'm more into performance of the car usually because the stock design is okay for me. I've had the idea of having GM's LFX in the Celica to make it fly, because it already moves my 4000lbs Impala 5.9 and 14.0 on paper; 2 tons ~ 1814.369 kilos, time may be different in UK. I only brag about that since not many US vehicles get those numbers completely stock, it's also slightly faster than a 5.7 Hemi Charger, and just as fast as the 1996 Impala SS, but the turbo Ford Interceptor Sedan is slightly faster than me.
Looks awesome, but tbf I think you’ll get some fine marks in the lights after painting them black. The plastic from headlights is black anyway and all you have to do is strip the chrome, degreaser will get rid in no time and it looks great. Good job though man!
I totally agree about headlights on the facelift models . I'm going to pay a garage to colorcode mine same as my red bodywork as i'm too scared to try and it myself .
Good morning mr spyder lee. Is it possible for a customer to send you the brake lights and have you worked on it just like what you did on yours. Of course with payment that is accordingly.
@@SpyderLEE I know! It's all about headlights I believe but you did a great job with this bad boy and I'm concidering getting one in the future. I've got an Mx5 now but I'll probably want to get something different in some time
It is the training LED which was popular in Japan of this me 20 years ago. It is Japanese soup stock to have made LED. It is Audi to have cribbed it quickly.
So it wont have water steam inside the headlight cover i want to change on my bmw the headlight cover its scratched and all that but im afraid getting water and steam inside ..
Mine still had loads of the black sticky stuff still on the back and lens so sealed it back up again. But you can buy it to put a bead round before you stick it back together. Can’t remember what it’s called though. Turns to liquid with heat
The projector on the new lights is actually the low beam. It is halogen as well. It was a mistake to mount the LED to the back of the projector shield. That is the HOTTEST part of a projector. That LED will melt/fail and is actually a fire hazard. Also the glue you used has disturbed the smooth edge of the shield, which will actually project onto the wall/road. Demon eyes are commonly mounted out of the way of the beam, so that the LED will not be harmed by the excessive heat put out by the bulb. The next time you have a halogen projector, turn it on and place your finger where you mounted that LED..you’ll quickly pull your finger out in a burning pain. I’ve even seen paper/cardboard start smoking by placing it in that location. Please consider this! I don’t want your car to catch on fire. That being said, this was a great informative video. Thanks for sharing.
What do you use to clean some of the inside bits of the headlight before final assembly? I have some JDM lights I need to open open and they have some smudges I need to clean on the inside. Beautiful results! How did you get your Spyder to Tatuine?
Love the car, you have done some great work on it. I know the "kit" is from Luxurypars but how long ago did you order and do you know if they are still active?
You should try some g3 cutting compound or toothpaste on cloudy plastic lenses. Also for sealer you should look into inotec sealer doesn't stay on your hands for day's.
@@speedfreek7627 for ever great product, its also paintable when it's still drying, they also do a sealer that once you've applied it you can start to fill with water ie swimming pool and won't leak. The topfix they sell is great also say you've broken a bumper clip/headlamp screw hole by removing incorrectly you can put a lump of topfix then screw the bolt in once dry unscrew and before you know it you have a new mounting that's threaded. Hope this makes sense. It is a trade product so you might need to purchase it online. www.innotecworld.com/products/repair.php
I've seen a few spider headlight mods, and I think you have configured two of the best headlight arrangements I've seen. Your latest version is good, but I'll be honest I like the look of your previous version better. Iirc, you put a facelifted projector in the middle of the older set up, correct? Anyway, that's what I'm aiming to do, is that something you would not recommend? (I can hit spyderchat for the wiring stuff if I do it...I don't care about the complexity, I just think it's a little bit more of a simple and cleaner look)
Yeah I prefer the projector lamps more. But I’m trying to be more legal friendly. It’s and attention magnet and straight through exhausts and aftermarket projectors are frowned upon 😂
Lee u r unbelievable... man give me it old heads I need them in Dubai dude I'll text u on Facebook lol U always do a great job and u bringing mrs alive again
I was waiting through the whole video to see all around the car and you showed it at the end when those stupid pop up videos show and I couldn’t see the car.
Lovely lovely car mate, though I think that you are a bit too old for the style, no offence. It stikes me as a car that a guy in his 20s would own. And you are in your mid 30s, but what the hell if it make you happy then rock on my friend.
Looks very much like a Porsche Boxster with those lights. Top work!
Looks a lot better than a boster
I’m really happy to see you working on this car again.
My workshop has never looked so clean!😅
lol that video must have been on a good day then!
@SpyderLEE you're not wrong! Great video though mate.
The new headlights look the bizz. Been thinking about purchasing a mr2 and now I'm sold. Subscribed

Ouch they’re a lot more expensive than I would’ve thought and I’d still have to take them all apart. Any advice on where to find used ones?
Facebook mr2 groups are the best price for second hand. Or email dick on mr2roadsterrecycling@gmail.com
Impressed with your whole car, great job
I like how you show the end result first, so glad I found your channel!
Yeah I always find myself skipping to the end first to see if it’s worth watching. Thought I’d save the trouble
@@SpyderLEE good man, subbed for more!

That’s the problem with the mr2, nobody seems to do aftermarket ones.

I’ve fancied getting a celica a few times and do a widebody rocket bunny style. But I’m struggling for room. Need to get a unit or something

Spyder lee I have an 03 mr2 live in the US, just wondering if u can make custom brand new headlights and taillights like yours?
I wouldn’t have time mate sorry 😐
Bummer. It was worth a try 😅
There's nothing like good lights, with you all the way mate...
Hi Lee,
Do you know if there is anywhere to buy the headlight covers?
Hi. I think you can but not sure where from
That's one beautiful MR2! Nice video. Easy to follow. Subscribed.
Thumbs up bro!! You've given the spyder community yet another awesome improvement for our list of things to be done :)
Keep'm coming
Fantastic MR 2 very nice body kit &,colors great job👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
They really are awesome! Great work!
Literally perfect timing. I have just removed my headlights as I need to clean and paint the insides!!
Thank you very much

Any problems with condensation? Didn’t look like you used any butyl to seal them.
Seem to be ok so far. There was loads still left on the lamp and lens from splitting. The oven softened it to seal it back together

hi where to buy new headlight covers from? thanks!
Man, you brought back memories of my mr2. Did something similar, diy custom made halos. Long gone now...:'(
You sure are a clever bloke, great inspiration mate cheer fellow MR 2 owner
Gorgeous looks great!!
Nice touch Lee. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming!
That's one CLEAN spyder! Following, maybe one day my Fastback Fiero and the MR2 can go for a cruise
Mr. T on his Sunday's best. 😂
Have you thought of putting on a hardtop?
Could be the same color as the hood and would really tie the car together
Yep on the list, want to get one this year. Waiting for summer for all the cheap ones to appear

hi Lee, could you help me to find new headlight transparents covers as mine have faded on my MR ? thanks a lot :)
Very cool! Thank you for sharing!
I'd struggle to not have the demon eye and the sidelights both on disco mode like all the time. Too funny

What grit sand paper did you use?
800
@@SpyderLEE thank you. I presume it doesnt decrease the beam of light?
I wouldn’t have thought so, that bits more for styling than function. It doesn’t affect the actual light reflector
Minted work my man👍
THanks 🤘
I've seen a few where the chrome part was painted the color of the car. I'm not sure if I'd do that way or not. But I agree that chrome is horrendous.

Uk law 😞. Projectors need to be self levelling and self cleaning.

Isn't the Low beam the Projector Lens? You said they were Highs
No, the projectors are the high beam. The normal big round lights are the lows
@@SpyderLEE Hmm thats weird all other cars are opposite 🤔
Are these lights road legal and will pass mot
The colours can be turned off. They are just stock lights without the colour
