    Twice I had tax preparers tell me I didn't have to file. One used to work 10 years for the IRS. The other was HR Block. I've beeñ retired and just collected social security. So one year only I didn't file to save $150 from HR Block. Because it's been free to do with AARP I only have that one year with no filing. So if they go back 6 years would they have a problem with the missing year or could they see by the years before and after why I didn't file that one year?

      It sounds like you’ve had some varying advice about filing your taxes. Generally, if your only income is Social Security and it falls below the taxable threshold, you may not be required to file a return. However, it's always good to confirm with current tax laws, as these can change.
      Nevertheless, if you're concerned about other tax years, it might be worth discussing with a tax professional or even reaching out to AARP's free tax assistance services for more personalized advice. This way, you can ensure all your filings are compliant and avoid any potential issues.

    The Inflation Reduction Act provided a colossal $80 billion in additional funding to the IRS. This is the taxpayers money. $80 Billion investment in the IRS needs to result in a taxpayer friendly, significantly more efficient, streamlined version of the IRS, we need a greatly improved “IRS Version 2.0.”

    Hello Noel,
    My question is those software or tax preparers that offer audit defends or representation do they really help? Thanks in advance

    • @NoelLorenzanaCPA
      @NoelLorenzanaCPA  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hello,
      Thank you for reaching out with your question. Yes, tax software and preparers offering audit defense or representation services can indeed be helpful. These services are designed to provide you with assistance and guidance in the event of an IRS audit. They typically include representation from a tax professional who can help you understand the audit process, prepare the necessary documentation, and even communicate with the IRS on your behalf.
      It's important to review the details of these services before opting in, as coverage and services can vary. Some might offer comprehensive support for any kind of audit, while others might have limitations. Overall, having audit defense can offer peace of mind and valuable support during what can be a stressful time.
      Best regards,
      Noel

      Code 570 appears to be a freeze on your account for some reason. Is the IRS asking for more information about something?

    Everybody should send paper filings to the IRS, so they have an endless backlog and are unable to do anything else other than process those returns using all their budget. Only the rich should pay taxes, really. Everybody else is a slave anyway living paycheck to paycheck, basically.
