I have been using this video for practice every day for the past six months! Still working on the advanced version, but i'll get there one day. Thanks for your fantastic videos, they are a tremendous help!
For a humbling experience, try playing this with brushes! Great video by the way - I’ve been watching this and your other videos since 2020. Still as useful as ever :) Thanks!
I'm glad I'd already got to grips with the first few pages of stick control and had a decent handle on singles and doubles before I came to this, but doing this routine at various tempos, slow to fast every day for the past few months has taken me on to levels of flow and smoothness in my playing that I thought were beyond me. I've started to incorporate some of the advanced patterns now as well and I'm also playing it with a samba foot ostinato underneath, as is recommended with Alan Dawson's rudimental ritual, which is ultimately what I am working towards. This turns it not only into a great hand routine but also a great independence and coordination routine. Thank you very much for posting this, my awareness of it has enriched my drumming and life hugely.
I’m glad you left that stick click mistake in there You’re so damn crisp it reminds us mortals mistakes will happens to everyone and the important thing is to play through !
It's cool to practice with you. Observing your decontraction and finger technique was a source of inspiration in my own practice. Because I used to rely too much on my wrists, it resulted in causing twitching, pain and finally blockages in speed... Thank you very much.
Thank you! You're wlecome! Yeah...the finger control is the right way to understand and develop rebound control...and then, you feel it in every technique you use! Decontraction is the way!
Good stuff..i was wandering if you can share a technical exercise to build my left hand as gudd as my right..i have a torn ligament any suggestions..thanx
When you practice try to spend 1/4 of time on right hand and 3/4 of time on your left When you practice combinations of single strokes, start with your left hand When you play drums, play SIMPLE grooves leading with left on hi hat Stay loose, don't squeeze the grip... Good luck!
Hi Luca this is a brilliant excise this has made me play the drums a lot faster you are the best!i just want to ask you what drum pad were you using because i just want to buy one?Again you are the best!
Hey Luca, thanks for sharing this. What is the execution of the double drag? I use to do that as a single drag tap. Which is llrllrL rrlrrlR. On my ear you are doing something similar to a ratamacue. Does the question make sense?
Hi Hernan! You're right, the sticking I'm doing on the double drag is llr llrL rrl rrlR. It's sound similar to the Ratamacue llRLRL rrLRLR because in this case is in 6/8: 3/8 = llR llR (R on the first and the last eight note) plus 3/8 = L (a dotted quarter note)
Superb Luca, when I get to the paradiddle combinations on the Intermediate version I am done man, I can’t get a clean execution at then moment. Any tips?
Start practicing with the metronome one pattern at a time: just paradiddles, then only double paradiddles then triple, until you're able to play them a little faster than the warmup's speed. Notice that when you start the double paradiddle with your left is on the "and" of two (in a 3/4 bar) Stay relaxed and focus just on the accents: Ta Ta Ta Ta / TaTa TaTa TaTa TaTa / TaTaTa TaTaTa TaTaTa TaTaTa Don't worry about the stickings you only have to think about the accents!
Nice job! When playing the 7 stroke roll, the next one starts on the upbeat right? Does he explain the rudiments a lil on the DVD or? I'm thinking about buying it.
Thank you! Yes the 7 stroke roll starts with a 5 stroke roll and you add a double stroke with the left hand on the up beat - rr ll R ll rr ll R etc...(if you listen to the click track you clearly understand) On the DVD Tommy explains the rudiments he use in the warm up, one at a time....a really well done product!

Thank you! I agree...Playing with brushes is the way Alan Dawson suggest to play his "rudimental ritual"...another great one!
I remember playing this with my lessons teacher every saturday 5 years ago. Surprised I still know most of it by memory
Great. So your teacher was stealing stuff from Tommy Igoe, and asking money for it. O, no. "inspired" by Tommy Igoe.
@@basb6230 chilllll bro 😂😂I bought the dvd to practice at home. Shiii with that logic my band teachers are the FBIs most wanted

Thank you Li Zhu! The pad is a Pro Logix model, unfortunately I think that one is out of production now, but you can try the new models 👍
Thank you ver much Luca!😄

Made it to para diddle diddle-diddle comb. whew !!!
What is a para diddle diddle-diddle
Did he do a pre-warm up for the warm up on his leg?
Yes! Running a marathon...than you're ready to play on your leg! 😁
Hey brother! You used to have the complete advanced version up on RUclips! Where did that go? Did Tommy ask you to take it down?
...they removed that video for copyright violation...after 7 years it's really strange...I can't understand why...

great job,Luca! i see your grip, i see this have pad sticks from Dom Famukaro ) could you tell who was/is your teacher, if it's not a secret? :)
Franco Rossi in Italy, and Dom Famularo!
Single drag sta per single drag tap?
Esatto!
donde se podría descargar el audio de la versión original?
No sé, tengo el DVD original
habrá alguna forma de que puedas pasarmelo?
i i dont see the difference between the single drag and the 5 stroke roll, they're the same correct?
No...The single drag is: R ll R - L rr L in triplet, the 5 stroke roll is: rr ll R - ll rr R in 16th!
@@lucacasagranda3806 that last R should be an L right? 5 stroke is rr ll R ll rr L
cool thanks!
le pad a lair duuuurrrrrrr
Holy shit this is a thing of beauty. Is it transcribed somewhere? I don’t know a lot of these rudiments
Yes! You can find on the web the pdf files with all three versions, or buy the Tommy's dvd...enjoy!
I thought about going to advance... Nevermind 😂😂 i will be in beginner for a while.
beginner for a while...intermediate for a while...advanced for a lifetime! ;-)

I got tired just watching this
It's funny how his whole body moves when he plays left strokes but when he plays with right hand only his hand's moving.
Tempo as 150
It's luke skywalker from the last jedi!
Lots of accents in there..
🤔
you're holding your sticks way too high up man.
oh man, with those sticks you have to...
Ugh he cant keep a beat , or the same stroke height
