MY Spanish. Grandmother was the salt of the 🌎 . my British grandfather lived to be 92 yrs old. They were married for 60 yrs. I would spend my summers with them for obvious reasons. When my grandma died I could not bare the pain of seeing her in a coffin so I stayed in my car at the cemetery. My mom was not a cryer & as the service was over I could see my Dad with tears in his eyes holding on to my mom as she fainted. I ran to her side & the mortician had smelling salts. Once she came to she said I don't want to go the reception in the limo I want to go with Arnold. My BEST friend for 35yrs before he passed away wanted me to learn the whole language and taught me all of the words/phrases I know. No one was supposed to care about the Nelson Riddle Band work either, that too was also a success. I totally admire Ronstadt for not giving a shit about what is supposed to sell. I think often times, the big record execs. underestimate what people will listen to and like.
Why isn't she mentioned much when it comes to female artist. I mean she has done a lot. From the crossover to helping in making the Eagles. Shes is in the R&R hall of fame. She was invited to sing in the white house during the clintons and received a medal from Obama for her vocals. So why isnt she mentioned much?
When I was little, I was under the impression she was fluent in Spanish because her pronunciation is perfect (I grew up with her 2 Mexican songs discs, since they were LP, then cassettes, then CDs). I hear how she pronounces and I completely believe she's Mexican (she nails the accent in the songs more than just well), but I see how she moves her miuth and I see a little bit of her non-nativiness, but is just so slightly that most people will never notice. There's a saying that we Mexicans don't like foreigners singing our songs, we are among the most difficult audiences to please, but her talent and the respect she has for our songs opened the doors to the Mexican audience (this has happened to this scale only with her and the Spanish hypertalented singer Rocío Durcal).

The minute I hear this song I get teary. My mom, 90 yrs old, can sing this song and "tu solo tu" so beautifully. Best memories, my aunts and uncles getting together and singing these classics. Gosh, I wish I could sing.

They're not less liked in other countries just because they sing in another language. I know many singers from Europe and Spanish singers who sing in 4, 5, or 6 different languages and they do it very well and are world famous too like linda was in the 70's.

She was chosen as one of the best female artists of the ranchero genre, and record, Canciones de mi Padre, won a Grammy.
Just described the scenario prior to her crossover, dummy. we all know it turned up the other way around

You are very wrong! Many English/American singers from the USA sing in Spanish and they do it very well. They're not less liked in other countries just because they sing in another language. I know many singers from Europe and Spanish singers who sing in 4, 5, or 6 different languages and they do it very well and are world famous too like linda was in the 70's.

I remember my first time in Mexico,Mexican ask me how do you know how to speak Spanish ? I told them I've learn it from my Grandma,she's a Spanish meztiza and also my Grandpa a half Spanish,and besides, our country the Philippines has been under by the Spain for350years so some of our dialect called Tagalog has a combine words from Spanish language ,so that's it,they learn some from me,about how some Filipino knows to speak Spanish language .....
