I didn't even know Linda Ronstadt was Latino until my husband brought this CD home for me in '87, I was blown away by her voice and I learned to understand a little bit of Spanish while listening to these amazing songs....

I remember being totally shocked when my mariachi father, Luis Gonzales Vargas, first told me that he loved the way that Linda Ronstadt sang. I thought he was referring to maybe one English song that he may have understood. Instead, he named off several Spanish songs that she had recorded. I wasn’t aware that she had recorded anything in Spanish until that day. I listened in awe of her talent. My father is now 97 years old and still sings. He brought a lifetime of music and song to our family as Linda Ronstadt brought to the entire world. Amazing talent!

Her voice, her passion and her Mexican ranchero music knowledge from her grandparent heritage get this, among a carefully and beautifully selection of old mexican songs. Of course the band is superb! Unas de las primeras canciones Mexicanas cantadas por una mujer que escuche fueron de Linda Ronstadt porque era una niña cuando salió su álbum de rancheras. Me acuerdo que me gustaba mucho como cantaba “Los Laureles”. Me parecía tan hermosa su voz. Y tengo que decir que fue una inspiración cuando fui aprendiendo de mi cultura. Me identificaba con ella porque era como yo; nacida en Estados Unidos pero con una cultura Mexicana.

And to think as a younger guy,I was given the opportunity by parents to go watch Linda perform songs from this album,and i passed on it,how i can kick myself in the butt for doing it now days !! I will regret this for the rest of my life because they said her performance was like no other.The best concert they ever attended.Now i watch this,and can,t stop watching this video,makes me so proud to be an American of Mexican descent.

At a very young age I sang one of her songs"I've been cheated" all the way through ,46 yes later I'm loving her music and life history 💖 Trying to locate my own families history, coming from Sonora Mex.My father stated that there was a relation to Mariachi De Vargas( but which one) .As he has family all over southern of Az.,Tucson , Sonora,TO Nation .As Dad is now nearing his final days with us , the history of our family is going too. When I hear her sing these songs I think of him riding on his favorite horse around the family ranch ,hunting ,riding ,being with all the family. spending time where Dad loved it most Thankyou Ms Ronstandt for your God given talent and love for music ❤️

I saw her in 77 or (76) at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix singing rock/country. I've seen her singing "Canciones de Padre" songs with world class Mariachis. I've seen her singing her songs from the album with Nelson Riddle. Her voice and interpretation of the songs is perfection. I got to see her one last time in 2018, but of course she wasn't singing due to the Parkinson's. It was a speaking tour and she told stories of her life; growing up in Tucson, early years in the SoCal music scene, past boyfriends, etc etc. The stories were great.

As a white English speaking American I have no good reason to like this album, but every reason to love it. Though I may not understand most of the lyrics, the melody and arrangement make me smile whenever I hear it and I have had the CD since it came out. She put this out at the peak of her vocal talents and sang every song with the deep love for her Spanish roots and songs she heard as a child. Goosebumps every time

Yes , yes , yes if you feel this with not understanding it ! imagine us that we do ! It's a total climax in our hearts and you saying all this , it's like total explosion of pride for us Mexicans . We need more songs that can unite humanity no matter the langue or skin colors .
¡Qué voz tan hermosa y privilegiada! No había tenido la oportunidad de escucharla cantar en español, con el mejor Mariachi, el mejor concierto que he escuchado, honrando sus raíces mexicanas. La felicito enormemente, me gustan sus éxitos en Inglés, pero esto sobrepasa gratamente mi admiración por ella.

Hace varios años.estube por casi veinte años radicando en Estados Unidos y en dos ocasiones tuve oportunidad de verla y escucharla.y sentía tal emoción de escucharla mi corazón y mi alma se inflamaban de tal emoción al escuchar los cantos de tierra México que viva Linda por siempre.💖😍
