Anybody who didn't experience these epic intros and by extension these games in the 80's, missed out on so much.
🙄 I'll take NBC's intro over these any day of the week.
@@blueblur2273 Sorry, but I'll take Brent Musberger's intros over any of the NBA on NBC intros anytime.
@@willardlockejr2965 There is no need to apologize. You're entitled to your opinion regardless of how bad it is. 😉
@@blueblur2273 And you're entitled to your opinion also, regardless of how bad it is. But I have to admit, I do miss Marv Albert calling the play-by-play on NBC as well as Dick Stockton and Hubie Brown for CBS Sports. They were very professional and well prepared.
@@willardlockejr2965 I got your back on the NBA on CBS. Some people weren't born or were too young to remember that CBS televised the NBA. The CBS coverage was a part of my childhood in the 70's, my teens and my early 20's. I watched the NBA on CBS from the 1977 NBA playoffs to the very end in 1990(game 5 of the NBA finals).🏀
Musburger is the absolute best in the business.
I want to know who wrote the copy. That was important but Brent Musburger deserves credit for the delivery with the highlights.
Except 1990. Brent was fired after the 1990 NCAA National Title game.
yuck
I miss the NBA on CBS!!🏀🏀
Man, the best ever, the commentary the theme music, this will never be repeated. The 80's and The NBA this video is a time machine. I love it! they don't make them like Brent and Dick Stockton anymore.
Yep them and Pat O'Brien and Tom Heinson
The best ever is the 90s egg brain
Man! This was Good Ol Days..I remember being a kid just waiting for that intro! Forget playing with other kids outside I was in the house waiting for that voice of Musberger and watching Magic v Bird..Classic!
This was my first memory of the NBA. Seeing Dr. J get his NBA title. That music and narration will always be part of me.
This video was NBA FANtastic!!!!!!!! Thanks for the ride on memory lane.
A quick note, James Worthy did not play in the 1983
playoffs due to a broken leg. I don't know how much difference that makes since he was a rookie.
Rookies back then usually made immediate impacts. So Worthy would have definitely added an offensive boost and speed to the Lakers offense. But against the Sixers they needed better rebounding and stronger interior defense. These are two things Worthy doesn't provide. With Worthy healthy I see the Lakers possibly avoiding a sweep but still losing in the end.
McAdoo was also hurt
Lucky for him!
They had a highlights show on the BBC in 1987 the hight of the lakers Celtics Detroit rilvary ...it was awesome to watch the superstars playing Bird Magic kareem ect ...like sport from another galaxy for us Brits ..
Brent Musburger was the best NBA 1970s commentator
Living through this brings back memories
AWESOME COMPILATION...THANK YOU....GOOD TIMES AND MEMORIES
Thanks for the post.
Got huge influence to do broadcasting basketball and football (in Japan now) from watching CBS Sports and Brent Musburger and this Chicago's "Alive Again".
And former Michigan State Spartans Magic Johnson (Magic’s mom was be loved janitor in middle school I attended in East Lansing, Michigan.)
This is an AWESOME upload! The feelings I get from these openings are unmatched. It takes me back to the best times of my life. Thank you so much for this. You have no idea how much it's appreciated!
Love it
Larry Bird and Magic Johnson revived the NBA in the 80s going through it problems in the 70s having the nba finals on tape delay
I remember those days…way before the internet. When the finals were taped delayed I can’t remember if the winner was announced or leaked out before the taped game was televised.
@@davidpage3893 I remember those tape delayed days too. CBS was tape delaying the NBA finals too. I stopped watching tape delay once my family got cable TV(Oct, '81). Cable TV had NBA basketball on the USA Network and WTBS-17(Atlanta)would televise Hawks and playoff games(they were the forerunner to TNT) and the original NBA on ESPN.
1981 was Gary Bender
This video doesn’t get anywhere near exciting till the music starts in 83
The GOAT
Cover your eyes at 0:04 if you don't want to see your birthday on tv!
1990 is Jim O’Brien
LMAO...Pat O'Brien.
CBS' last NBA Finals in 1990 (Detroit vs. Portland) came after CBS fired Brent Musburger on April Fool's Day. Pat O'Brien previously did the intro for Game 2 of the 1989 NBA Finals because Brent Musburger was away on assignment at the College World Series.
The golden age is the 90s guy
The Intro Music from 83-88 is the best.
Yes and sorry I hate that they tweaked it for the '89 Finals. It was like New Coke. The theme used '83-'88 was epic. What wasn't broken didn't need fixing.
Agreed ...the "updated" version is terrible...absolutely no need to update a masterpiece theme....
IT SUCKED - LIKE YOU DO.
SUCKED
@@kyle1910CBS did the same thing to its “Pots and Pans” NFL music that year. Completely unnecessary.
In my opinion, the "Golden Era of the NBA" was the Seventies (Chamberlain, West, DeBusschere, Maravich, Frazier etc) - not the Eighties. SORRY.
🤨 Dropping a bunch of random players names is the Neanderthal argument and doesn't actually prove anything.
Yer in the MINORITY, SORRY.
@@irishgrl Wrong you are FOOL. LOL
@@91dodgespiritrt 😂 70s SUCKED for bball! The game was DYING ON ITS FEET! Losing viewership! Playoff games on TAPE DELAY AT 11PM!!! if not for Larry & Magic, there wouldn’t BE an NBA! Now YOU are the fool!
@@blueblur2273 Try coming out of your mommy's closet and reading a book Oabout the NBA sometime and watching a 70's NBA game on youtube. HA, HA,
