Let me say this. I am a black man, I LOVE horror films with nightmare on elms, the thing, the void, hellraiser, event horizon and aliens being some of my all time fav films. Never in my life have i saw racist horror films til now. Whats a racist horror movie? Well whenever you hear Peele is involved just expect: white hate, white people bad, white people being the villain, woke content, social justice. 😑 it never fails at this point. I have never seen horror films be racist or boring like how they are now. So hard pass on this film.

Original Candyman was genuinely creepy. Everything about it creeps me out still to this day, it has the same effect on me today as it did when I watched it as a young kid. It's just really well made and honestly I doubt I will even watch this 2021 movie. I agree with your points here Matt. Did you see the social commentary before the story in the original? You know in the wake of the L.A Riots and the beating of Rodney King around a year before the original movie came out. Its just so forced nowadays, hardly any original story's being made.

Well it's true, Subways Red Bull Company and schools are now fighting back against woke/SJWs as they are understanding they aren't making money and firing SJW/woke teachers, businessmen/women, and executives as they'll hire people with standards even give people what they want. Studios of games, comics and movies should do the same thing next and take note.
History always repeats itself! in the 70s there was a tend of blaxploitation movies and feminist movies (some of those blaxploitation and feminist movies were actually good unlike the crap of today as they actually had characters and story first and foremost even had feminist icons who can be allowed to be sex symbols that men desired while women look up to like Pam Grier for example) it was big for a while then diminishing box office returns happened as audiences lost interest in them. There were also problems with riots and the extreme left in the late 60's and early 70s, the answers to those things were masculine action movies and escapist sci-fi/fantasy movie like Alien, Star Wars, Superman, Close Encounters, Star Trek the motion picture and more starting in the late 70's and early 80s.
I did saw this year in theaters Nobody, Conjuring 3 Quiet Place 2 , Kong vs Godzilla (has some flaws), Demon Hunter and Suicide Squad 2 as they earned my money as they stay out of agenda/SJW politics and just do escapist entertainment.
Think all this trend of sjws, hardcore new wave feminists, attacks on masculinity and white males, lgbtq/gender/identity politics and just all this political correctness going around; i think all this will eventually die down in the middle or near the end of the decade and we will have sort of renaissance of "creativity" in animation (despite there was some gems in the 2010s), comics, movies and sci fi and all these franchises.
Now take Rocketman is my favorite movie of 2019 as it's a LGBT movie that any orientation can enjoy as i'm heterosexual and it wasn't extreme SJW/woke/virtue signaling agenda crap but pure entertainment as it had good storytelling, good characters (i mean Elton John in real life is gay and the movie wasn't trying to shove stuff down throats), great performances, superb direction, great visuals and a message that isn't so preachy and i saw it in theaters with my mom in 2019.
The main reason why i believe this is because all the major studios and owners of all these beloved classic shows, series and franchises/movies will reach a point where they realize they're just not making any money whatsoever, that a majority of people are just not falling for all these woke agendas. And if continue down this path these franchises and IPs will be completely destroyed.
Vote with your wallet. Don't give money to these agenda-driven vanity projects. We need to support good media with quality storytelling and relatable engaging character arcs.
They simply cant carry on like this and there's nowhere else to go, eventually things will change for the better it may take time still but it will happen eventually we will have a return of all our classic things in a great way; they will wake up and fire woke/SJW employees/executive and hire people with actual standards and give people what they truly want. When companies realize they're losing more money than they're gaining they'll change their tune soon.
And any of the damage woke has done, can be repaired someday. Woke will die out and rot into obscurity never talked about again as the mid to late 2010s and early 2020s will be shuddered. Not fondly remembered as the late seventies eighties and nineties when times and entertainment was quality.
it looks like companies are finally backing off against woke nonsense and this woke/SJW/virtue signaling/cancel culture phase will die out in the middle of the decade and we'll have a new reniassance in entertainment, games, movies, comics and more. This woke/SJW/virtue signaling garbage will rot into obscurity.
Money speaks volumes to these companies so once they realize they’re losing money on these titles due to sjw/woke/virtue signaling/cancel culture agenda pandering hopefully they’ll back off.
There’s a saying that strong men/strong feminine create good times, good times create weak men/women, weak men/women create hard times, and strong men and strong feminine women rise out of the ashes like a phoenix out of hard times. I think we are in the times of weak men/women who will create hard times. Once we do get through these hard times though we should see a boom like we did that started in the late 70s and 80s. Yet i'm right though they do seem to last about a decade

The appeal and what was scary for me in the original Candy Man was it was dirty and grimy, to know cabrini green was a real project in Chicago and that it was almost portrayed accurately as far as the atmosphere was scary. To me a villon as ruthless as Candy man in a deteriorating violent project was what was appealing and unique to me. Like you said that scene with the kid in the bathroom it was hardcore...the cinematography was great in the original and the music too.

I had no interest in going to see it but the girl Im dating insisted so I went along. Oh my God this movie is heavy handed, its not scary and its not needed, not like this. The original film did acknowledged racism about Candyman's origin but it was subtle, it wasnt woke and the movie was mainly focused in being a horror movie, adult horror and Candyman only killed 2 people, the movie so scary it traumatized me. The new movie took advantage of the character of Candyman and converted the story into a critical race theory, its woke, its anti-white and anti-police. They missed the point of Candyman. The critics are praising this movie for brownie points, not because its a good movie.

You know, the original Candyman was a great atmospheric film. This new one sounds like a politically motivated, biased agenda-driven yarn that really makes me feel like; why do I want to see a horror film that sounds like it has absolutely nothing to do with horror? Instead we want to get our point across and use the film, like so many to push opinions on the masses. I never held up that this would be a good film but Jesus it sounds horrible.

I finally saw this myself recently and I agree with pretty much everything you said here. This film sucks. In all honesty this is the worst film in the series to me personally. Other than some nice direction, some interesting kills and a moody score, there is honestly nothing this film has going for it. It's preachy, it's dull and it fucks with the mythos of the original film in order to make Candyman into a platform for social issues first and foremost. I am so sick of this style of storytelling. Subtext is fine. But it's at its best as an extra ingredient and not the entire dish. This approach just leads to piss poor characterizations and a serious lack of investment and suspense.
Each sequel kept trying to recreate the majesty and magic of the first film and failing to do so. No matter what spin they tried to weave upon the fabric of the original, it always seemed like a patchwork affair. They either didn't try hard enough to be unique, or they tried too hard. None of them found the right balance. None of them were sweet to the sweet.

They should've went in the direction of Candyman wanting Anthony to become his host in the human world. Similar to Freddy's Revenge. Anthony is an artist like Candyman. It could've been that he was trying to transfer his soul into him as a baby and Helen ruined it but now he's back or something like that idk lol. Vanessa Williams definitely should've been in it more and Tony Todd as Candyman should've been stalking Anthony in the film. Not a BS deaging effect in the end. Instead of Be my Victim... Be My Witness or something.

See this was my issue - it’s clear that he wanted to kill Helen and baby Anthony to immortalize them all as the family he lost when he was murdered and separated from the lover he got murdered behind. Essentially Anthony was suppose to be the “son” of Candyman. They did nothing to really connect that. No flashbacks. No story in there or anything.

Just got back from seeing Shang-Chi. This new Candyman should take notes. I didn't really see much woke/PC/SJW stuff in Shang-Chi. I felt they put story/plot and characters first over all the skin color and gender (there is strong female characters in Shang-Chi, but to me they took nothing away from Shang-Chi himself, he got to shine too). I didn't see much of white people bad and Asians good. There is a few white characters in the movie, but they did nothing bad to the characters. Ben Kingsley returns as his Iron Man 3 character, so his character was "dumb" already, but Shang-Chi's father has a henchman that is white, but they don't make him look bad at all. There is a point in the final fight where he refuses to listen to Shang-Chi's mother's people, but he soon opens his eyes and stuff to everything going on and decides to have his people team up with Shang-Chi's mother's people and fight the bigger threat going on. He's even a character I would like to see more of in Shang-Chi 2 or something. But yeah. The new Candyman movie should take notes from Shang-Chi. Shang-Chi shows you can still do a non-white movie without having to throw in all this woke/SJW/PC nonsense.

this might piss people off who are overly sensitive to the subject matter and this isn't any attempt at racism or being disrespectful just an observation giving the benefit of the doubt of people who question the official narrative but there's this notion or conspiracy that George Floyd is still alive that his "death" was a false flag/hoax in order to push the divide and conquer aspect. Now I'm not saying for a fact that's what's going on but you could look into it yourselves if you want if you're open minded and can look at things subjectively as oppose to objectively.
Again this isn't a knock on anyone who believes the official narrative of things but today people lack critical thinking skills and tend to believe whatever the media says to be true without question. I just think it's interesting and makes sense that they would push an agenda to get people easily triggered because they know how the human mind works and how to stir the pot to make people react without rational thought.
With that said you can choose to investigate and look into it or keep believing what you're being told.
Even if it's not the case it's still a tool they use to push the narrative of things to get a reaction out of people. It seems like it anyway that and to score points with the minority.

      trust me.
      Here's some advice to studios.
"Your show/game/movie failing isn't the fans' fault. It's yours!!!"
When you're in the professional business of making entertainment, the goal is to make a lot of profit. And to do that, you got to make the fans happy. By that, you need to give them what they want and treat them nicely. That means don't go turning their favorite characters into shadows of their former shelves (ex: making them dumb, weak or bad people); don't go taking a story that's about someone and making it about someone else (don't do what Kevin Smith did with He-man); don't go changing a character's race, gender or sexual orientation (it's better to make an OC if you're going for diversity); don't go making mary-sues/gary-stus; don't go belittling/insulting your fans if they criticize or rant about your work (calling them "racist", "sexist" or whatever won't earn you money or popularity); and don't go putting modern politics into a franchise that isn't about politics (people go to entertainment for escapism, not to be reminded about the horrors of the real world).
Follow these rules and hopefully you won't see a dent in profits. But even then, fans are not obligated to give you money if they don't want to. They have a right to their opinions and interests and they can always spend their money somewhere else if your work isn't to their liking. This new he-man Smith show was a flop on netflix and turned off many old school fans like me off and what i got after five episodes was crap, even Netflix subscriptions are down. Go woke go broke they say! at least Blade Runner 2049, Dark Crystal Age of Resistance and Cobra Kai were the only 80s movie revivals done right by actual fans of the material and who understood the material even passion projects and were not soulless heartless passionless moneygrabs like Ghostbusters 2016, Robocop 2014, Elm Street 2010, and so on.
Remember that episode of classic The Simpsons called itchy and scratchy and poochie? in that episode the executives thought of making a hip character that speaks to the 90s generation and it backfired by fans even comic book guy, however Roger Myers studios realize they were losing money due to poochie and wake up as they decided to get rid of him showing you don’t mess with the classic formula. Poochie was a soulless byproduct of committee thinking just like this new revival was.
Same thing happened to New Coke in 1985. Now companies like Subways and Red Bull and some US schools are fighting against woke/SJW nonsense as they are waking up and realizing that they are losing money due to pandering, they are finally waking up and changing their tune by firing sjw/woke employees/executives/businessmen/businesswomen/teachers out and hiring people with actual standards, it's finally happening people with actual standards a tired of SJW/woke pandering and fighting back.
History always repeats itself! in the 70s there was a trend of blaxploition and feminist movies (some of those feminist and blaxploition movies were quite good unlike the crap of today because they had characters and story and even actual likable feminist heroines especially when you were allowed in the 70s/80s/90s/early 2000s to be a good looking woman who can be a sex symbol and feminist hero icon like Pam Grier for example or Red Sonja for as men desired them while women looked up to them). But it was big for a while until box-office diminishing returns happened as audiences lost interest in them.
There were also problems with the extreme left and riots in the late 60s and early 70s, the two answers to those was both masculine action movies (although Dirty Harry and Shaft did kind of started the trend as pioneers for masculine action heroes) and escapist sci-fi and fantasy movies like Superman the movie, Alien (now that has an actual likable feminist icon heroine character you actually love and admire unlike Black Christmas 2019 in this revival as both genders admire this character), Star Trek The Movie, Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and more that started in the late 70s/early 80s. It looks like woke/SJW era is slowly/burning out/dying out now that companies, businesses and schools are waking up as they are realizing they are losing money than gaining it and now changing their tune. Hope the entertainment industry is next and take notes.
There's an old saying that strong men/strong feminine women make good times, good times make weak men/women, weak women/men make hard times and hard times create strong men/feminine strong women. Looks like now that strong men and feminine strong women are rising up from hard times out of the ashes like a phoenix being reborn.
And when this woke/SJW nonsense dies out in the middle of the decade, we'll have a new late 70s 80s and 90s again as in a new reniassance in entertainment, comics, movies, games and all.

i love the 1990 candyman and this disappointed me. the third act and the premise they went with ruined the movie for me. i like the idea of there being multiple candymen but the whole twist villain and his plan was dumb. it sucks they were hyping up tony todd and they don’t even use him until the last 30 seconds. the main candyman wasn’t too interesting except for the camera angles where you only see him in the reflection. i missed tony todd’s booming voice. the first movie did commentary well and it wasn’t shoved down the audience’s throat like in this movie.

Halloween Kills looks a lot more better then to this crap, i sick and tied of directors and writers are comparing to real life nowadays because of what happened because it makes them stronger this movie is just stupid as fuck, you don't need candyman killing so many cops so how come in original he never killed cops?? but now he does so this is like horror fantasy crap. even those cops were good guys in movie they weren't dirty cops making cops look bad saying this psycho is good guy?? give me a break then sequel would be like black version of Scientologist title would be called Cult of Candyman jeez because white and cops are evil let's make them that bad people in movie let's make this movie like reality but with horror
fantasy in it look i never liked old Candyman but in olden days their has been dirty cops. but did film writers or directors compare real life to riot that happened in 90's??? NO they are just looking at real life staff look people watch movies to escape reality to enjoy entertainment not to look at make a movie to make it like a reality like 2020 geroge flyod and Black life matter bullshit, cops are bad, white people are evil sick and tied of that we are in 2021 now and still almost end of year they can't even move on, they made this movie fiction but with real life political crap in movie to make everyone feel better and make fun of cops and other white people gender and it makes white people to hurt with blacks that's why they made movie i hate Jordan Peele more like i wanna pee on his head and on his movies, i think this movie is pale of shit. not to be racist that is my theory of why they make this movie for just like in 80's
Vietnam with Rambo 2, Missing In Action all that because Richard Nixon told movie industry to make movies to charge American soldiers to fight Vietnam and make USA a lot stronger then ever and with like this today with Riot, Black life matter, people are getting hurt or offered with cops witch not every cop is bad. but to make this movie to charge people to say police officers are bad, look what are they doing nowadays this generation has gone of hand this generation is fucked in ass right up, oh movie has to faggot characters in it to jeez writers and directors are just comparing movie everything comparing with real life wow they fucked in head. that's why trailer did nothing for me, that's why movie looked to political i hate talking about this as well, this is like disease, people watch movies to escape reality this movie didn't need to be political this seems like movie that is more about political then to horror fantasy
classic horror film... this needed different directors, different writers, what if a white or Asian like James Wan directed this movie?? i wonder what people would say.. when people watch this movie they won't talk about movie they will talk they will make fun of cops and any gender of person and talk about how political bullshit. people won't talk about how movie is good movie is they will like movie because political and having main black guy killing cops and making cops look bad. that's why i hate this movie.

Haven't seen this one yet but I want to just to see how I personally feel about it. When it comes to Black Lives Matter riots human beings are inherently destructive no matter how many Black Lives Matter that came there to riot there will always be bad apples mixed with the group who just want to steal and hurt others. What it is though is most minorities or people of color get more hatred and abuse is thrown their way so eventually they snap and strike back and do things like riot even though I don't support hurting others in riots I do understand why POC people get pushed that far. The thing with Black Lives Matter is it was invented to support Black people because POC people generally get it the worst in the United States so Black Lives Matter was created just to help and remind people Black Lives do matter. The thing is Human beings being inherently destructive will make it impossible to ever truly get rid of racism and violence all we can do is hope to tamper it down.

    • @yashamaga13
      @yashamaga13 Год назад

It was invented to scam money and divide people. Do some research and open your eyes. Zero poor people got anything but the founders bought mansions. They also caused over $2billion of destruction in almost entirely black neighborhoods and were responsible for the death of more than 2 dozen people (again, mostly blacks)
Also, wrong. Apparently youre unfamiliar with Affirmative action and diversity hiring. There's zero things that one race can legally do and the other can't. But there is one race that gets constantly coddled and held to the lowest standards.
