Fun facts about medieval executioners:
They were paid by looting the body of the condemned (below the neck).
They could perform weddings.
They were required to stand at the back of the church.
They were often poor and shop owners were known to give them food/goods as charity
wow
@Joseph Bleifus same, they would be VERRYYYY rich
Not charity, I've read that they had the RIGHT to pick food for free.
Wow
They also did surgeries. Most of the time they made their money as surgeons. One famous executioner mentioned how he only did a handful of executions in the 30 years he had the role while he did hundreds if not thousands of surgeries.
There was an executioner from Naples I have read about who was famous for making the execution as painless as possible. His family had used this tradition for generations before him. He would take a ball made of steel, and spin it while putting it against the convict’s back. This would end up putting them at ease, and making sure that it was the best death possible for them. He unfortunately ended up dying in an accident involving a horse, with the only other person to know the technique dying of disease shortly after, meaning this spin technique is lost forever.
why!!!!!!!!!!!😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
yeah that doesn't make much sense
- Lisa What do you mean? The technique would hit the person’s nerves in such a way that it would make them feel nothing due to their nervous system blocking out pain.
There was also british executioner Albert Pierrepoint. He prided himself with hanging criminals as fast and humanly as possible. It usually took around 15 seconds from entering execution chamber to hanging. His record was 7 seconds.

conclude because how could you watch ppl die and if that was not enough you torture those prisoners
Eren Solak no, it’s not enough if the prisoners killed and possibly tortured others themselves. They caused immeasurable suffering for the victim’s families. If they didn’t want to be on death row they shouldn’t have done the crime. Yes I know some people are innocent, but that’s extremely rare nowadays (rare for them to be put on death row if they don’t have 100% proof)
@@CHloE748 a study showed that up to 6 percent of people sentenced to death in America were actually innocent.
@Henry Suyou can always Google it to confirm 😂 My bad I got the percent wrong - it's 4.1 percent of people not 6. The study was released in 2014 and done by the National Academy of Sciences. Not exactly a few decades ago 😊

150 dollars isnt worth a human soul no matter how terrible of a prison they are.
In Florida when an execution is scheduled, the warden makes a selection from one of seven approved executioners, the list is not written down, it's kept in the wardens head, and no executioner is used twice in a row, a rendezvous is arraigned, and a prison van that is curtained off, so that the driver can't see who he's picking up is sent to transport them, the selected executioner, gets in the van, and dons a black hooded robe, that conceals their identity, and is taken to the prison where they do their task, after they do they are paid in cash, so that there is no public record of their identity, and they are taken back to where they were picked up, they take off the robe, and slip out the back of the van, so that the driver, never sees their face, the warden only knows their name, and their phone number, but otherwise cannot identify them, and the list is passed from warden to warden verbally, again so that there is no public record of their identity, but it's believed that all are members of law enforcement.

Commenters; allow me to ask you a question. Were you an executioner, would you prefer to know the details of crimes committed by the prisoners you execute, or know nothing and just get it over with?
On one hand, knowing of their crimes may instill you with some sort of twisted sense of justice, whereas not knowing would make it easier to emotionally distance yourself from the act of killing. What do you guys think?
All Correctional officers have access to an inmate's file so they know exactly the type on inmate they are dealing with , inmates crimes are never hidden from correctional officers
