Cutting people's throats for fun is also embedded in human history, both via a grand scale and via a personal scale.
So we do not define ourselves by such atrocities, nor should we ignore the limitlessness human potential for creating a torturous experience for both ourselves and for others.
What we should focus on is, "potential," what we can imagine and effect from this place forward.
THAT...is the true litmus of a human being; what do you aspire to?

What makes you more than the parts that society has pigeon-holed you into?
What makes you something unique and special?
All that is really required is to just think about it. We are all unique by birthright.

Truth and reconciliation is problematic because it places us in the past (Dr. Harjo). We need to move forward and spiral up. We don't need a pause -- we need to move on and be proud. I challenge all future Indigenous generations to stand-up and make a call to action.

The past needs to be healed from within the spirit world before we can move forward. That's the whole point of truth and reconciliation; it is rooted in the past.
