I love, love your subtle classic Christmas decor. I found it hilarious when you said if you have one crock you might as well have another one. That recipe box is amazing! I live in California and love Pasadena! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
The recipe cards were probably typed on an IBM Selectric Typewriter. This typewriter used "balls" with different fonts....Courier, Script, etc. I loved typing on a Selectric.
I'm so jalous for your beautiful weather in CA. But for Christmas decoration...sorry, but Montreal winter is just enchanting. All decorate my house patio with christmas light, my son will build his snowma in front of the house, the entire house smell pine and cinnemon. I cut some branch of my pine and cedar trees to decore my house.my husband will go take out christmas tree ( no plastic one please!). I love collecting christmas tree decoration. I love red and pink poinssettias and if you wait like two days before Christmas, they are half price. When you look outside from the house windows, and it's start snowing...it's just like you live in decoration snowglobe.
Hazel was the first name that I thought of too when I saw the recipe box.... what a treasure! I love the simplicity of your decorations ... just beautiful. I want to sit in that chair and have some tea. Sometimes Christmas decorations are so elaborate that it is unattainable for homes with busy parents, kids, and pets. Thanks for making it real!
Break out the popcorn! Thanks Kerry!! Hope you enjoy the videos and if so you may enjoy my podcast too decoratingtipsandtricks.com or listen on any podcast player, such as itunes. Thank you!
Adding touches of greenery and a few ornaments can transform any space to look festive. Your kitchen looks beautiful and cozy!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! Merry Christmas!!!!!
I love your kitchen so much that I am doing mine similar to yours, or as close as I can. Currently I am making some curtains for my kitchen, wish I could get a closer look at yours but I think I can see them well enough. Oh, the recipe box definitely belonged to "Edna J. Huntington"
Everything was beautiful, however, I was looking for the pops of red that she mentioned earlier in the video. I think the red would've helped bring out the christmas feel like red berries inside of the green garland or really cute red ornaments/ balls or sonething, otherwise she did a great job!💕
I can’t believe I found this only a few minutes after you posted it! I always love visiting your kitchen-it’s so comfortable and warm. I could really spend awhile visiting with you and your lovely furbies there! I’ve been meaning to ask you if Antique Store Heaven did your stove restoration? I’ve seen them featured several times on the show “Restored.” Is the marble table where y’all eat your daily meals? It’s the perfect size for a family of four. I really love the way you decorated for the holidays in your beautiful kitchen!! Happy holidays to your family-both two and four legged! 🎄😘 - Rebecca
And same to you Rebecca! And thank you for your email on the sealing wax - so thoughtful of you! I wish you could come over & let me share the Panettone with you! Yes Antique Stove Heaven did restore our stove!! It is a wonderful family owned company. I have to check out the show Restored. xx
My Soulful Home I do love Panettone! We would buy it while we lived in Germany-it didn’t have so far to travel! lol Yes, I think you would really love the show-and probably see many familiar houses, if you’re the type to drive around various neighborhoods...and visit open houses! I know you’ve mentioned you do that! I would really love to have an old gas stove-one of the houses I’ve saved on Zillow has an older gas stove in the basement-I suppose as a canning kitchen. It’s really wide, maybe from the late 40s to 50s.
My Soulful Home We lived in Heidelberg for about three months in 1996-1997 then Mannheim for a year and a half. My husband is a civilian Army employee and from 1988-2010, he was emergency essential, meaning he deployed just like the Army does. He went to Bosnia in 1997 and Iraq in 2003. He left that type job when we came to Pennsylvania in 2010. He now works at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland (where the Army does testing). They were going to send him to a small outpost on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border in 2010 at a time when things were very bad there.
You have done such a beautiful job of decorating your kitchen...the hardest room for me to decorate for Christmas. I can see from your video that I just make it all too difficult for myself. The Charlie Brown tree is just too adorable! BTW: You have the most amazing thick hair...I am so jealous! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours Kelly!
Yes it doesn't have to be hard and best not to be too overdone, unless you are ordering out all of December! Thank you re: the hair. I started taking a daily multi-vitamin and I swear it is 1/3 thicker than normal . Sometimes it is too much of a good thing - haircut on Sat. actually. xx
I didn't get to have children so I know many of my things will someday wind up at the "swap meet". LOL I hope people exactly like you discover some of them and will enjoy them in their homes! Merry Christmas!!
Thanks for sharing! I really like your natural approach to decorating. I love decorating with mercury glass & silver, and I'm a little obsessed with dough bowls. Even though I like a little bit more sparkle for christmas, I think I will incorporate this natural look with my silver for winter. Merry Christmas!
hi, this is penny from upstate ny. i just painted my stairs with the white risers and white on the side walls. i want to paint the part of the stairs that you walk on (don't know what they are called) black. i was wondering what kind of paint you put on yours and if it is slippery. don't need to slide down 13 steps! thank you in advance for your help.
Everything looks lovely!!! I so appreciate everything that you do! My daughter and I went to Jacob Maarse last night and really enjoyed ourselves!!! Then to Pie n' Burger!!! We had such a great time!
Leslie - LOVE Jacob Maarse! I have worked with Marina & Hank on several philanthropic benefits around town. Pie & Burger YUMMY!! Thanks for coming by and Merry Christmas!!
Thank you for the simplicity but still beautiful ideas. Want to enjoy Christmas this year without stressing over putting up and taking down decorations. Merry Christmas!
One of these days your going to branch out to vloging one of your spray painting escapades and its going to be epic!!!!! After listening to the podcast I really want to paint some manilla envelopes gold even though I don't need them. My important papers would look fabulous in them though!
@@MySoulfulHome in a beautiful glossy white box! Especially if it had one of those gold metal label spots on it! I mean you could spray paint one of those ugly metal file boxes and up cycle! Whoop whoop! Ooo on a smaller scale that would be lovely for a seed saver box!!!
Your home is breathtaking. Such a perfect family home. May I please ask you where your table and chairs in your kitchen is from? Such a lovely change from an island counter. Thank you!
Looks lovely, Kelly! It’s festive, but subtle and sophisticated. Really, with the color scheme, don’t you think you could get away with keeping most of what you’ve set out well into the winter?
Hi, if you haven't named the lady who created the recipe box filled with cherished recipes, i would suggest "GRACE'" for the blessings you will enjoy each time you serve her recipes ...........
Your "Charlie Brown" tree looks like a tinsel tree made in Manitowoc Wisconsin back in the day. You said you got it in the original box? Did all the branches have their own sleeves to store them in? Beautiful!
I just found your Channel! I love everything that you did. I'm going to look into the boxwoods for sure. Random question, what brand of jeans are you wearing in this video? I'm on the hunt for a great pair and those look like they would fit the bill perfectly!
I just discovered your channel and I love your home and style. Just beautiful. And I’m in love with the hutch you have in your kitchen. Is that an antique or from a store??
Hi Ashely! Welcome to My Soulful Home. So glad to have you along with me here. My hutch was a find at my local thrift store. It is old pine. Keep an eye out you might be able to find something similar. Good luck!!
The lady who made the recipe box is really a gracious Gracie ☺️
Beautiful kitchen 😍

Selectric - I love it!! Thank you for that information Catherine. Merry Merry!
So pretty! Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks Donna! Merry Merry !!
Christmas decoration can be so tacky. Keep it simple, not in hundreds of colours, add some Xmas lights, that is what I do. Love your style. Magnifique
Yes!!! Thank you Claudine.
