I love interior decorating I don't quite know how to do it but I pretty much know a gorgeous room when I see it. How beautiful it is to walk into a gorgeous home and feel like instantly comfortable even if it's not your taste. Your home is just lovely.
Awesome tips once again! Love your term “hot spots”... excellent way to think about it. We all have them, we just don’t utilize them. I certainly will now, so simple and stunning! Another “Thank You” for sharing.
Hi Jayne - thinking about having certain spots to decorate simplifies the process so changing it up on a whim, seasonally or for holidays is fun not a chore. Thanks to you for watching and joining in with a comment!
I love your tips in all your , like putting crinkled paper underneath the Christmas balls I thought I was one of the few that did that glad to know I'm not alone
I love them too! I was in a thrift store as they were being donated. I practically laid across them until they were priced so I could buy them. Then reupholstered in linen.
Kelly, I hope you never stop doing these videos! It's so wonderful to visit your beautiful, warm home and see the pieces I've heard so much about - like the corner hutch...is this the piece that cost you a large tip? I love history like you do, and my favorite homes to visit are those where the furnishings have a story, whether in their provenance or maybe how the owner found the piece. I wish you had talked about the mirror vignette over (and I wish I could use 'the voice' of your upholsterer) the chairs you call Victoria and Albert. How did you fasten the cherub to the mirror? I've never had any luck with Command fasteners. In fact, everything has fallen off the wall, usually that night. I know the three of you all use Command fasteners all the time. I was also noticing the tassel garland. I just purchased from eBay and etsy several different amazing yarns that I want to make tassel garlands with. Some of the yarns are linen or silk. The basket with the twine and shiny balls makes my heart sing. One thing I saw in a magazine several years ago (I believe it was 'Victoria') that I fell in love with was an old glass jar with twine, old wooden thread spools and scissors. I thought that was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen! Speaking of 'Victoria', that was my favorite magazine, and I was given a subscription to it at the very beginning by my mother, and I still have them all, packed away in a box.
Oh yes Victoria - I poured over those pages too!! Each issue transported you to a place of beauty & calm. I attached my cherub to the wall/mirror with clear plastic 'wire' around his neck ( sorry little cherub! ) and then I tied it around the hook the mirror is attached to so I didn't have to make another hole. As for the command hooks, I am pretty new to them. I started using them here b/c of the lath & plaster walls ( CRUMBLE!! ). They work well for light items. Have a lovely day my friend. ( no new video this week - I have the flu :( )
My Soulful Home Oh, no, I'm sorry you've got the flu - nasty, too, because you don't even feel like catching up on magazines or decorating books! Poor, strangled cherub, but that does make more sense than using command strips. When we lived in Germany, we hated to try to hang anything. The walls were something they called putz - it must be something like plaster because a 16 penny nail would bend right in half! We had to use those things that have three little prongs. I wound up hanging about a fourth of what I took. I was so glad to get home - I really love to have the artwork around me that I love. I hope you feel better soon--I'm sure Edith and Emmet are happy to have you stationary, though! - Rebecca 😘
HI Alisha - will put that topic on the list. In the meantime, I have a podcast episode for you to listen to - How to Decorate with Complimentary Colors: www.decoratingtipsandtricks.com/312 . There is also one on Finding your Signature Palette: www.decoratingtipsandtricks.com/330 . I think these will help. Thank you for watching!
