    Hi, late reply, but a fun way to display your discoveries, and i'm surprised you didn't find more outside, is a glass case. I live in an old house, land granted in the 18th century, barn long gone, original house burned down, and i have dug up so many old things, first started displaying in a large bowl, but now are in a small glass case, almost like a little terrarium. I have found a rimlock from the barn, silver, broken transferware....have fun with it, its the history of your house. :)

    You could display those items in a shadow box or mini shelf and place them in a utility room/laundry room. I'm that way(excitable) about pretty white porcelain, depression glass , old atomizer perfume bottles and glass trys,or anything that I think is functional,but hard to find.

    I always get excited when I find that someone saves one of these old homes. Also, I have seen some homes that have a white interior, but seem to lack the element of beauty and interests that captures the eye. White is actually a difficult color to work with if not decorated right. It's wonderful to see how you mix so many textures to make so much eye candy and especially with a late victorian house. Just love it! Keep it up!

      Thanks Igor - sounds like you think I pulled off the white! Thank you!! The house REALLT need the freshness of the white and the wood work was not high quality. Thanks for coming by today. Have a look at the before videos!!

    Oh Kelly... LOVE your tips! Yes,, “Longaberger Baskets” are pricey, but totally worth every penny! I have a house full of their Basket and my dishes are from Longaberger. Use my basket to store many items in!
    I love that huge “wood cutting board” on your kitchen island. Don’t you just love finding treasures in your walls! My Father built our large kitchen and we had to take a 20 foot long wall out from storm damage and my Uncle had signed his name to one of the studs, they also left other little treasures in the walls.
    Love your story on the Trophy... that would be something I would do, run across the room. I am also feisty at Auctions when it’s something I have been searching for!

    • @MySoulfulHome
      @MySoulfulHome  5 лет назад +1

      What a delight it must have been to see your uncle's name on the stud in your wall! Hope you took a photo! Yes, those baskets are quite price, but I am now picking them up at estate sales for a song. I researched the company, but didn't know they made dishes too.Thanks so much for watching and for sharing in your comment.

    So glad that you showed that it’s about small touches that can be decorative and seasonal at the same time! I’m just getting ready to decorate for fall and was thinking I have to put all my current decorations up and put all new fall objects! Thank you, I like all you have in your home, I aspire to have the same type of decorating style!

    That small square Crystal thing is not a ink well it is called a salt celler. It was put beside a plate with a tiny spoon and filled with salt for people to salt their food. Before salt shakers. And your rusty "spoon" is a rusty knife. Nice finds though.

    Hello, Kelly. I've been very worried about how close the fires have been to you, and if all those you care about have been safe. It's so horrifying to watch the news and see all the destruction and hear of the terrible loss of life. I so love your kitchen - each area has something beautiful to see! I love that you painted a longaberger (sp?) basket black. That's such a great idea! I see them in thrift stores (but never a cooler) and wouldn't mind having one in black. I can't believe you have that fabulous (and spooky) passage to your basement! And the things you found, like a little time capsule, are the sort of objects I love! It would've been phenomenal to find a handwritten note with them!! I could see them displayed on a small antique mirror (or old, tarnished tray) with a feather in the ink bottle. Sort of like this image which was from Victoria magazine (source: discardedforlorn.blogspot.com). 3.bp.blogspot.com/_wBHWbRqGiOs/TI6GGdW5poI/AAAAAAAAAK8/3cdluVbCeu8/s1600/vic.jpeg I hope your pups (and family) are well! - Rebecca

      @MySoulfulHome  5 лет назад

      Hi Rebecca - thank you so much for your concern. We are fine, but so terribly sad for all the people in harms way of the fires. Thank you for watching and for your WONDERFUL idea for displaying the "buried" treasure I found in the wall. I LOVE your idea and the image from Victoria. The feather will give the display some needed height. :)

    Can’t see the “ink well” but I believe it’s a salt cellar/dip as I have 3 collections of these I inherited. Each guest had one in front of them during dinner to be able to salt their food as they like or to use to dip things in.

    Hi Kelley, Interesting found you had in the wall of your house! I do not have ideas of what you could do with it but can tell you this.: When we demolished a wall inner house we found a birds nest and a stamp of 1886 in it. Many many years later only I learned that one put such things when building as a token of good luck.

    • @MySoulfulHome
      @MySoulfulHome  5 лет назад

      Oh my goodness a bird's nest!! 1886 - that is the year my house was built. It did seem the items I found were put there together on purpose. the items were too random to have accidentally just come together in that wall. Thanks for sharing!
