at the Opera House i was the second hardest workin' man. Or maybe just the loudest! He played this song like five times. it had just come out. It was beautiful.
@brendanbuyers2009 I agree. You almost never see a him fumble on stage. And it would be my guess after seeing James Brown for a long time that he did the two splits back to back..........yes, because the first was was a little incomplete and he seemed to've lost balance a little bit coming up out of it.......not to mention it didn't appear that he went all the way down with it. But immediately after the first split we see him explode into the next split which is just classic.
this is the black elvis presley by far james brown band was always tight and if you were not tight he would get some of your money, love you james brown RIP
What was this concert for? Looks like a Farm Aid. This looks like around 1985-86 which would make JB 53-54 years old....he was still killing it with the splits and hair
@HarlydarvySenior So true..that was eactly how jb thought in my opinion. If he did a move and didn't like the way it came across , even if it looked good to us, he would do it again until it looked right..Another good example is when he did the mike throw and split on I got the Feeling at the bb king concert, he had a face that said ' nah I can do that better' and he did the move again straight after.
"I" am the M.C. who had the 'honor-and privlige' to introduce James Brown once or twice, "I" cannot remember exactly, know what I mean? Please allow me to introduce the 'new-emcee'! That is Mr. Peter Fonda, movie star, very well renowned, and a 'great-humanitarian'! Thank you, thank you very much!!!
This is from 1987, one of the last times he probably did splits. This is where he also probably got hooked on some kind of drugs, either illegal or prescription and ended up in jail for 2 1/2 years beginning in 1988. Too bad because if he has kept himself in shape (he was only 55 here) he could have been more athletic for more years.
@PaulDA2000 - This was a bad filming of the performance. The one I saw originally (and have on video) gives a much better angle of him doing the two splits starting at 2:48.
was at a 3 day festival in ireland like a mini burning man band playing brass band super band hot girls playing one male vocals doing james trust me his spirt was in the house the place went insano buzzing off our tits having a wow experience the sound was perfect the moment the buzz this guy is music the go nuts type king of soul king of dance king of the stage get up and let him do his thing and boy they did his spirt was in the house .
i don't get why brown so often left out maceos fantastic sax solo in living in america... that solo was a masterpiece ... same goes for maceos awesome sax riff in papa's got a brand new bag ... after brown usually says: "can you blow like maceo?"
He was 54 here and dabbling in some kind of drugs (look at his eyes) but he still did two splits starting at. That is the last time I've seen him do splits (at 2:46) and I saw him live a dozen times in 1987 and 1988, the year he went away to prison for 3 years.
Pete Rojas most of his live arrangements were different from the original songs, and those arrangements changed numerous times over the years for many of the songs.
Let me add, he could SCREAM and SCREAM on key. Brilliant!

One of the greatest things I love about James Brown is his cool ass walk.

What year was this? Had to at least 1985. He would have had to be at least 52! and doing the splits, even though he struggled a bit.
@@darhyllacy3671This was on July 4th, 1987, he was 54

He didn't actually it was edited out of this broadcast
What would JB think about all of the crap in Ferguson and Baltimore? Blacks living in America?
Super highways?
Not like in Germany...that's for sure.
You can go 120 mph, past a cop, if you want.
this is the edited copy...

They weren’t ready for the soul.

he might be fuckin jacked up, but the band is nails. still a cool jam
"I must break you" . . . in a heavy Russian accent.
thumbs up if u came here because of southpark
This seems slightly different than the original song.
Pete Rojas most of his live arrangements were different from the original songs, and those arrangements changed numerous times over the years for many of the songs.
It was better than the studio version.
