Your confusion lies within your lack of understanding of Racism, not uncommon. Racism is not defined by your profession or financial success. The fact that you were told your skin color didn’t matter is another way of not acknowledging you as a person and your views and experiences because of it. People of color rarely go to schools where the teacher or the materials are a positive representation of them if mentioned at all. A Racist is not defined on whether they are a good or bad person. They are born into a system that automatically benefits them due to the color of their skin. This doesn’t mean they don’t suffer from poverty and other problems in life, it means they will more likely not be judged by the color of their skin. Racism is a system of oppression which created institutions of inequality, injustice and divisions thus creating White supremacy and Black inferiority to justify those inequalities in housing, education, and medical areas created from untreated trauma from the institution of slavery. Whites are the main beneficiary of the system and Blacks, people of color and other minorities are the main oppressed by this system. I love these athletes who are intelligent and have hearts of gold. They care about people, they care about people who might need a role model, they are treating others as they would like to be treated-- but they go further than that. They have integrity and compassion, and spirit. They will stand up or kneel for what needs to be called out, and they do it respectfully and they put their money where their mouths are. Not all athletes, of course, but the ones like this man and many others are making a difference. It is a shame that Kaepernick and other members of the league who did the most respectful thing a person can do since the beginning of civilization-- they knelt in silence. No slogans, no shouts, no angry t-shirts, no angry fists, they simply knelt in remembrance of far too many unarmed, young, black males who had been shot and killed without just cause and all they wanted was for the nation to talk about that. But, Trump, the blow-hard bigot, didn't want to talk about racism; but, instead, he wanted to display racism as he did with that disgraceful birther movement against Pres. Obama. This time, he decided to throw mud on the characters of these good men who respectfully knelt in silence and called them "sons of bitches", unAmerican, and accused them of disrespecting the flag and even our troops. They most certainly did not. Why do people kneel in prayer to God? Out of deep and abiding respect. Why do people kneel before a monarch to receive a knighthood or medal? Out of respect for the monarch, their country, and in humility for receiving a prestigious award that honors them. So, if it is clean drinking water, life-saving medicine, scholarships, keeping kids out of trouble with activities to challenge them and help them develop and grow, or to call attention to an injustice... these men are leaders and are admirable citizens and human beings.
@Mr Creative Guy00 This is such a cruel and inhumane comment that's just heart breaking why mock poor people many young children looking for hope at a better life?
@J D My sweet people are not robbers - they are seeking life and opportunity and hope. They are humble, sweet and hardworking. Unlike this racist post during this racist times, they have love in their hearts.
Grinds my gears when people say, "Should just stick to their sport/singing/acting.." as though these people aren't fully rounded humans with interests and passions beyond their sport/singing/acting. Imagine hearing someone replying to another person's every opinion on life, "But you're a chef, never mind the crisis in the school system - just stick to cooking food!" or "Why are you talking about politics? You're a delivery driver, get back in your van and shut up!" It wouldn't wash. We don't tend to assume that people are merely all about their jobs. But for some people, if that job means the person has wealth and measure of fame, they want them in a box thoughts and all!
People only say that when they disagree with the person philosophically or politically. If they agree with their personal or political views, these people become outspoken heroes in addition to being an athlete, entertainer, etc. They also have them as guest on their show (i.e. Fox News is more than happy to have people like Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, and Curt Schilling on their shows).

As a white American male, I can never personally know the viciousness of institutional and/or societal racism, but I’d have to be intentionally blind to believe that it doesn’t exist, or worse yet, to think that we should just wipe the slate clean, forget the past and just embrace a colorblind society where we are all completely equal. That last part is an admirable goal, and I do my part everyday to bring that goal to fruition, but we don’t achieve racial harmony by pretending that we didn’t endure hell before we reach nirvana! The closest I can come to understanding this young man’s situation is by recounting my experience as a formerly closeted gay man. I finally came out to my friends and family in 1995. I cannot begin to properly explain to you the emotional, psychological and even physical hell I went through when I decided to stop living a lie that had taken everything from me but my last breath. It became easier to do with time as I became more confident and more secure in myself, but make no mistake, it truly was the hardest thing I ever did for myself! Other than telling myself that freedom is so very worth every demon you must slay to achieve it, what got me through all this was the knowledge that the next person who will have to walk my path (and I knew that there would be many, many more) might have an easier go of it...they might not have to hurt as deeply or for as long as I did. If I could take the hurt for them, then at least there would be purpose to my pain. And purpose for the pain is a huge help in getting me through all this. I don’t intend to be anyone’s martyr but I do know the meaning of “family” and we in the LGBTQ community call ourselves family...a rainbow family who is there for our rainbow siblings when our blood families abandon us. And if you’re part of a family worth having in the first place, then you love them enough to take on their burdens when they’re not able to handle it themselves. I had no one to help me as I was growing up gay, so I know all-too-personally the agony of loneliness and of being just a bit too unique. And if I can keep anyone else from going through a fraction of what I went through, then I am there, and as long as I have a breath to draw, I always will!
Hamish Martin I genuinely don’t get how my words set you off so intensely. Of course, I’m not going to shut up and I genuinely understand how blessed I am to have such beautiful souls who add immeasurable joy to my life, and it seems you need some of that in your life, too. I hope you find in this world all it seems you are desperately lacking right now. I’m reporting your comments by the way.

Athletes are allowed and encouraged to be activists, and even criticized by FOX News anchors when they aren't (see the recent controversy about Lebron and Hong Kong)... until they're talking about racial prejudice. Not allowed to talk about that.
I tired of that "educate them" bullshit these people know damn well what they're saying and doing. It's okay, just remember all that y'all have done and said. A great recompense is coming
Some of these comments are blowing my mind. Are some of your seriously gonna say that sterling hasn’t been racially abused and all of this is made up. I’m for the UK and this debate has been ongoing and we all know that it exists and should be stamped out of our beautiful game. How far do we think our own national squad would go without the children of immigrants? There are so many young boys of colour that are coming up behind theses athletes and they get to stand on the shoulders of them and stand up to racism. Almost all of the great premier league teams has a player of colour that propelled them to some degree of success, don’t just value their goals but value their opinions and feelings!
The last bit by AJ, I totally disagree with, Not belittle a racist, but to take them under your wing and educated them....... the best way to deal with a racist, is to stand your ground, show them you're not afraid.

Ask yourself how many countries have aided the U.S. with our issues such as homeless veterans, a minimum wage that will never catch up with the current cost of living, hunger, disease epidemics, more jobs that pay a living wage. This is just a small portion of issues that our country is ignoring while building up other countries. We provide money and resources to many countries and usually with no R.O.I.

I’m so proud of all my black athletes luv
New respect for Anthony Joshua
They know what they be doing ... no need to educate them
Grinds my gears when people say, "Should just stick to their sport/singing/acting.." as though these people aren't fully rounded humans with interests and passions beyond their sport/singing/acting.
Fox News is more than happy to have people like Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, and Curt Schilling on their shows).
...Yep, Laura was so silenced by him you won't even find her connected to this story.
🤣
Who else expected this video to show the boxer actually silencing LI during an interview or him addressing something directly she said at the very least???
I'm a little bummed out. At no point in that video did Anthony Joshua silence Laura Ingraham or Fox News!
Had Laura Ingraham been around 56 years ago she’d have been telling Muhammad Ali to shut up and box.
So athletes, do your thing!
U can't educate someone that doesn't want to be educated or change racism.
It’s pathetic when some who do so LITTLE criticize those who do so MUCH.

Good man
Much love and respect....it takes a bigger person to see beyond themselves. Stay blessed.

That's quite accurate
Its a form of mental illness, I am beginning to believe, when you pre-judge a person based on skin tone. Someone you have never even interacted with.
Nobody is born racist, they are taught to be like this. They have to unlearn this behavior. Im not saying that you treat them with kid gloves but educating them about their ignorant behavior is a lot more useful than just screaming 'RACIST!!!" in their face.
@@andyd3447 I believe all the education a racist deserves has been provided right from the days of the civil rights struggles. There are places in this world where there is ZERO access to clean water... the people of these countries desperately need our help.
@@dnevs79 I understand you and my apologies for my previous approach. I agree that other countries are in desperate need of clean water but the United States have been known for breaking bread with other countries that are less fortunate but we can't continue to ignore the issues we have at home.
