I had my first DnD game last night with a group of friends. Without spoilers for Baldur's Gate, we had to protect this woman from a band of pirates coming for her. Right when the combat started, one of the city guards was leaving the room, and I was going to let him go. But my friend rolled persuasion (Char 6) and convinced him to stay in the fight.... We definitely would have lost without his tanky health pool. Something so small did so much! Love DnD.

Also he incorporated the bard persona realy well from the start, where he is always trying to charm everyone and talk his way out of situations rather than going for actual confrontation.
My very first character was a human valor bard, all the way back in 2014, sadly, I never got to play him more than 1 session. My friend who ran the game moved away due to financial reasons, and the guy who took over ran "politics and dark souls" the dnd campaign, where he jerked himself off all for telling all the players to figure it out when no one spoke Draconic and the only quest he was allowing was coming from a dragon who spoke only Draconic... Currently, my favorite combination is hexblade warlock/forge cleric.

That was so smart of Carl to turn a street fight into a theatrical performance, I loved it! Really hope to see the party get even more imaginative and confident in their characters during next sessions!
while the fight was happening i was like "uhm in the middle of a street, just attacking some guys seems questionable" after the fight with those safe i was just laughing how it worked out
Big hint for those who are new. If the DM tells you the name of a city/country/continent, etc and the names of the rulers etc, write them down. The DM is going to reference it in the future.
Hopefully they'll read your comment, Paul. It's spot on - none of them knew to take any notes (which they definitely SHOULD do). Nothing I do in my games is pointless; literally every general fact or small detail has some importance.
To be honest you should not take notes on things related to the basic info of the setting you're playing in (unless you realy want to), thats why we have compemdiums with these info, and if it is a custom made scenario the DM is the compemdium. Otherwize the players will be writting an enitre book of info by the end of the first hour of gameplay. Players should take notes of stuff pertaining to the adventure they are going on, cause thats their responsability, in my games if I tell ppl the name of a contact for example and they don't take notes and forget the name, then thats their problem to solve how they are gona locate the contact they don't have the name of anymore, but basic scenario backstory should be public knowledge provided in material acessible to the players (or by the GM when asked).
The half-orc, upon seeing the small ones return Ralof's gold, takes a few steps closer. Staring down at the gnome he snorts, "You, speaking with boy. Elaborate." Ok that might actually be my favorite half orc concept ever.
Chandler Lawson when Carl started climbing the building I will be honest, I though he was just trolling Bill’s DnD game... but it turns out he is just a genius at the DnD!
I play a GnomeDruid and My brother plays a Half-Orc Barbarian I'm constantly on his shoulder, He, not a very smart character so you can imagine the hilarity that ensues.
Altorin Currently playing a Pathfinder version of one of my most played characters, Lazam Janzin. The quintessential Halfling Rogue, with a utility belt of random situationally useful objects like flour, ball bearings, caltrops, chalk, a crowbar, oil, etc. His best friend is a big, ugly Half-Orc Barbarian named Thorn Bloodfist. Not only is he nearly always on Thorn's shoulder, but Thorn also serves as his pack mule for all his goofy little items. I initially had a 6 in Strength that was reduced to a 4 because of the Halfling racial penalty, but upon doing some math, we found out that I wouldn't even be able to wear my armor without breaking my light load (and getting disadvantage on basically everything as a result). Swapped around stats a bit to get a 6 in Strength post-penalty, so that I could at least wear armor and carry a weapon. Thorn carries everything else. Really fun way to interconnect two characters, opens up loads of RP potential.
1. hands down to this bard, he didnt let the chaos phase him, always kept the character and let his charm take the best 2. the warlock goes to reach him with her spell and fails, enemy goes to reach her and kick... slips on a banana peal and falls next to the enemy... what a great group of heroes and villains, truly inspiring 3. ''can i punch him and at the same time sneak my hand in and steal from him?'' spoken like a true thieve, i like it! 4. Bill: so how are you gonna atack him? Carl: with my flute. seems legit 5. Once again, Heather proves herself and roll a 20... like usual... 6. SERIOUSLY! hands down to this bard, both for the gameplaying strategy on its own abilities but also for the roleplaying the guy is seriously doing, saving an entire party with a show really fits him, i never took bards seriously for fighting with flutes but i'll consider one when i play
I really laughed when they said roll to conga. Mainly because in my campaign, we have a joke that whenever we move great distances, we conga instead of walk.
Roll to enter the building Rolls a 4.... You walked into the door Rolls a 1... You back up a distance and proceed to sprint back towards the building dropping your shoulder as if you were to ram the door then last second you leap into the air. Crashing through the 8'x8' window. Ruining every guests meal and drink in a surrounding 20 feet.
Rolls a 20.... As you walk in, the door’s loud squeak goes away. The bartender, amazed that it stopped making such an obnoxious noise, opens and closes the door repeatedly to see if it stopped for good. It did, and the door is now as silent as a church mouse. The bartender, overjoyed, shakes your hand and gives you 50 gold for fixing the door.
Can we just commend Matt's ability to roleplay his character? When he said he only knew common vocab words, I thought he would just speak as if he were unintelligent. Instead, he went all out and actually spoke with only vocab words. The moment he went to ask a question and just said, "Inquisitive," I knew we were in for something great.
Yeah, that was great. "Elaborate." I thought, 'Why is he talking like an idiot? Does he really talk like that? Oh, he's in character. Oh... this is interesting... proceed.'
Glad to see Heather back. She went from silent and a little unsure to being a really involved and invested player. That's amazing, you probably made a new lifetime player here, and maybe she will introduce some of her friends by proxy

from DM-to-DM I love the beginning intro info-dump. I love being dipped into worlds like this and really need to get better at introducing my worlds in an easy but in-depth, yet concise manner. It's pretty sweet how you did it. I'm glad i'm....late 2 the show so i can binge all of this
Oh yeah, and props to you Bill! I loved how you connected the weird dark robes guys and the blonde elf patron. That's something for me, as a newbie DM, to learn and master.
Quick thinking, Half Beard (Carl)!! Love the table setup; it helped everyone get into the game faster. Time to find out who the yellow haired elf is, and if he knows where anyone can find a cat.
So cute how these students are being just a little bit shy around the table. Let's hope that in time they'll get over their shyness and learn to really play out their characters, that's almost the most fun part of a game of D&D. Very fun game though, and they're obviously enjoying themselves. Keep it up guys, big thumbs up!
this show is amazing. i watch it in tandem with TFS at the table...i only wish this was just slightly longer, but I understand why its short i wish i had you as a teacher back when i was in school...
I had one in 7th grade, Mr. Fahs. Did not like the teacher until I went to this 9th period club. Once I started playing the game, I really saw him for who he was and why he was like that. I thought he was pretty cool after that and I think that is the reason that I did so well in all my science classes all the way through college (maybe). Anyway, if it was not for him, I may have never started playing the game to begin with.
Cool to see how they're goofing around in the beginning and then gradually go quiet and attentive, as they can't help getting in to the story and its details.
Imagination is still the best, but I have to admit that as I've become older, I have the financial means to fulfill my childhood desires for all the cool D&D toys ;)
yep modifying it for an upcoming pathfinder game Richard Stroker, a cavalier focused with polearms with the Order of the Cockatrice edit: and if aloud I want him to ride a large Rooster.
Great Work Bill! I do love that you created a whole new continent with countries that have different backgrounds, I wish that new people could later join the series like Cooper with his dragonborn(I imagine that he will be a paladin).
I give props to that bard that was very quick thinking on his part a pretty sound plan to come people down it may have almost failed but it done beautifully P.S. ELDRITCH BLAAST

This is probably a little after the fact, but I have just discovered the channel and have to heap some praise on the dice tray. As a woodworker I have to say that it is simply stunning.
When trixe gets a pact boon she NEEDS to get the pact of the chain(egro having the cat but better) brotip: if she wants she can turn her familiar into a qwipper and see whats beyond the waves
Congratulations! You have uncovered one of my DM secrets; using other languages to spice up your world! (and yes, your discovery has powerful meaning in my original world)
And the tiefling shouts "thank you for watching our performance!!". Jumps off the roof and casts featherfall. Gracefully lands, rolls forward and bows to the crowd. Daaaaaaammmnnnn!!!! i would love to play again.... :(
The irony in this one first they are deciding not to cast a spell that might get them arrested only to 5 seconds later commit a double murder in the middle of a crowded street. Good job that their bard was quick thinking there lol.
It’s great to see people of all ages and backgrounds come together to simply enjoy a role playing game like this. Incredible story crafting by Bill, and all of the students are so unique to themselves as well as their characters. This episode gave me quite a few hearty laughs, I can’t wait to watch more. Thanks for the great content!
Willie Stroker the Rock Gnome did all of his attacks while perched on the shoulder of Maximillian the Half Orc. That's impressive for a first-time player. And it was Maximillian's idea that started it. Good job!
Mentioning Skyrim at the beginning was totally foreshadowing. They're playing like a video game. Do combat, use your skills, murder the suspicious guy, persuade your way out xD I love it though
i wish you could write eng. subtitles for the videos. i mean not that i dont know eng. or something but trying to hear everything right for an hour can be a little tiring.
Bill, I think it's great that these kids wanted to play D&D after learning your love of the game. It's also wonderful to see Anna and Heather as I DM a group of 8 amd only one is a woman. I feel there's a lack of girls playing the game in general. Maybe it's just the area I'm in or if it's more global and I wonder what can be done to help make girls more interested Role Playing.
Growing up playing RPGs, there were not a lot of girls in the game. I think the culture is changing though. I see a lot more females at conventions, at local gaming stores, and at MeetUp gaming events. I think it's great for everyone. I periodically run games for my own kids and their friends, with ages ranging from 8-13. They play very well together. In fact, sometimes the kids play better than adults! They are creative, cooperative, and even strategic. I think the future looks bright for tabletop RPGs.
I started DMing about a year ago... Most of my sessions are couples. The women in the group tend to take better notes and at the end of the first session are asking when's the next one.
I am in a party of 6 with 2 males. It can be done. And honestly, the girls, I think, are more invested in the game, take better notes, and help arrange for a time to have the next session.
I literally just played my first session of DND today and I've come across this the same day. I watched all of season 1 and I'm very glad I can watch season two more or less from the start. Very pleased with finding this
First we had Yuri Longsword, now we have Willie Stroker the woodworker. They weren't the heroes we deserved, but they were the heroes we needed. Next season we need Richard 'Dick' Palmer or Hugo Rocklance

from DM-to-DM I love the beginning intro info-dump. I love being dipped into worlds like this and really need to get better at introducing my worlds in an easy but in-depth, yet concise manner. It's pretty sweet how you did it. I'm glad i'm....late 2 the show so i can binge all of this
Glad you enjoyed it! Welcome to Kikapulan!
Seeing how you ruled the bard situation made me realize that bards do not have to be enemies but can roll together to enhance eachother
A true DM. Way to go. You followed the story and let it happen!
Also big fat kudos to the one wearing the band shirt that's way before her time. Go Heather :D
How many of us know about D-S-o-t-M?
this show is amazing. i watch it in tandem with TFS at the table...i only wish this was just slightly longer, but I understand why its short
i wish i had you as a teacher back when i was in school...
Yes!!
That face he made when he realized that Ralof was also from Skyrim.
You made it more visual with all the props and what not .. when I played in the 80's it was just a grid map and our imagination!
Imagination is still the best, but I have to admit that as I've become older, I have the financial means to fulfill my childhood desires for all the cool D&D toys ;)
I lost it at "THANK YOU FOR COMING TO OUR SHOW"
1:09:34 so close to a Blues Brothers reference Carl, you had it right there...
Very nice dice tray! 15:54
Willie stroker xD genius!
yep modifying it for an upcoming pathfinder game Richard Stroker, a cavalier focused with polearms with the Order of the Cockatrice
edit: and if aloud I want him to ride a large Rooster.
Great Work Bill! I do love that you created a whole new continent with countries that have different backgrounds, I wish that new people could later join the series like Cooper with his dragonborn(I imagine that he will be a paladin).
Diego de Leon T. I can imagine it. “I’m so righteous dude”
Deathven Nice! Look foward to your character and carrying the team.
i like how interactive your being with comment section, shows how much you care about this.
Subbed. d_
Finally! Best wishes for this season.
I give props to that bard that was very quick thinking on his part a pretty sound plan to come people down it may have almost failed but it done beautifully
P.S.
ELDRITCH BLAAST
Awesome background to this world, by the way!
This was one inspiring masterpiece of an episode.
Thank you! Hopefully you'll enjoy all of season 2!
Me: Found the series at 6pm and have been binge watching, has to wake up at 6am for school tmrw and has to write an essay, do a project, and take a test. "I can watch one more"
*checks time*
Its 1:30 am.
I CAN MAKE IT WORK.
When I heard Carl I was assuming the female human druid known as Carl was coming back
Man this reminds me of when i started playing, and all the wackey stuff we tried to pull out of our asses to stop bad things happening. Or to start them xD. Keep up the quality content!
Lol @ "roll to eat food". Just imagining rolling a nat 1 on that. "You just kind of rub it all over your face but don't actually manage to get any in your mouth." Hahaha!
This is probably a little after the fact, but I have just discovered the channel and have to heap some praise on the dice tray. As a woodworker I have to say that it is simply stunning.
Idk how my first two characters just happened to be the same class race and background as Matt and carl but iam here for it
Awesome!! Hope you enjoy, and please subscribe. We appreciate the support!
The wait is finally over!!!
The live show save, brilliant. Love it so much! Thanks for jet another great episode.
Great episode! Love how yous guys avoided going to jail.
Finally had time to finish this episode, its nice to see Heather back as her druid self!
Heather: “lets be friends with him!”
Anna: “he took my money :(“
"I won't let you make a silly name"
*next person*
"WILLIE STROKER"
Oh, I love how much fun everyone is having!
The cotton candy spray paint will illuminate the dink dink. I can speak thieves cant too!!!
When trixe gets a pact boon she NEEDS to get the pact of the chain(egro having the cat but better)
brotip: if she wants she can turn her familiar into a qwipper and see whats beyond the waves
"Vrajathor Dumneziu" - almost translates as God Wizard in Romanian, if that was intentional, hats down sir!
Congratulations! You have uncovered one of my DM secrets; using other languages to spice up your world!
(and yes, your discovery has powerful meaning in my original world)
Awesome! Love the setting and the group vibe. And good call on that inspiration point, it was both a practical and hilarious moment :D
And the tiefling shouts "thank you for watching our performance!!". Jumps off the roof and casts featherfall. Gracefully lands, rolls forward and bows to the crowd. Daaaaaaammmnnnn!!!! i would love to play again.... :(
Best performance I have ever seen!
The irony in this one first they are deciding not to cast a spell that might get them arrested only to 5 seconds later commit a double murder in the middle of a crowded street. Good job that their bard was quick thinking there lol.
good point
It’s great to see people of all ages and backgrounds come together to simply enjoy a role playing game like this. Incredible story crafting by Bill, and all of the students are so unique to themselves as well as their characters. This episode gave me quite a few hearty laughs, I can’t wait to watch more. Thanks for the great content!
Well thank YOU for watching and subscribing. We do this all for the fun and to spread the word about role playing games. Cheers!
I'm imagining him playing one of those trash recorders as he's fighting this small child
Carl goes on a roof randomly and ends up saving the day, that's what I call a good game, looks like you all had fun
So fun, thanks Bill and students for a great gaming session! The thieves cant RP by Sean was a good move!
Willy Stroker. And I specialise in playing with my wood. ...I mean I'm a "carpenter".
Finally! Been waiting for a while for this one
That moment when people got upset with the restrictions on the first season so you literally write a book for season two and read it to kids
LoL...yeah, pretty much.
Willie stroker... Sounds like a name my dad would come up with...
i wish you could write eng. subtitles for the videos. i mean not that i dont know eng. or something but trying to hear everything right for an hour can be a little tiring.
Bill, I think it's great that these kids wanted to play D&D after learning your love of the game. It's also wonderful to see Anna and Heather as I DM a group of 8 amd only one is a woman. I feel there's a lack of girls playing the game in general. Maybe it's just the area I'm in or if it's more global and I wonder what can be done to help make girls more interested Role Playing.
i can tell you thats not true at all. i know many in town and online just need to be in the right areas I guess.
So happy Heather is back.
yaaaayyyyy
Milo so vicious :P so cruel! beheading a poor guy in the middle of the street....
Sean: "so I have a pretty high sleight of hand.... *I steal it back from him* "
So glad I came back fro Season 2! Yay, Heather came back! Also, man, Carl is a natural.
I'm laughing out loud!! That's hilarious!
Two years late, quarantine has me looking for new hobbies and stumbled on this gem while exploring DnD, that ending was hilarious, a total piece of art!
Never too late, my friend. Welcome to the world! Check out our Discord channel if you want to get into games. We have a lot of friendly DMs and players who are happy to welcome new players to the game!
@@BillAllanWorld thank you! Although English is not my first language, I would love to give it a shot, where can I find the discord link?

William Stroker would've been more subtle, but it's DnD we do what we must lol
Holy cow that ending, the bard always comes in clutch in the least expected ways
Great job with that deception Carl! 😹😹
Hey, now there’s a real life Carl
Willy Stroker, the Woodworker showing his slight of hand. Yes please.
