If we talk early days of league then this holds some water. Faker and dopa were very innovative for the time and pushed league midlane standards. They were always ahead and you can learn a lot from them.
Nowadays it doesn't really matter. Midlane fundamentals are pretty much established and figured out while solo queue results historically doesn't translate to good pro play results, people gunning for rank 1 to get pro team offers is not uncommon and many solo queue monsters have been pro with varying degrees of success

Apdo and Faker is an alternate worlds of any online competitive games.

Honestly, best in solo queue doesn't necessarily mean he would do well on the professional scene. A lot of pros do well in solo queue and then tank quite badly on the professional scene. Yeah, Faker was known to be Godly in solo queue hence scouted for SKT, but the difference is, Faker isn't toxic, so the team atmosphere improves, which makes the team much better, and not everyone finds the same success. In fact, no one has found the same success professionally after doing well in solo queue, so I think that speaks volumes.
Team Dark was also quite horrific, and I was watching that game against SSW live. If he really chose players that were "as good as him" for the team, then he wouldn't have been that good professionally, because Team Dark was terrible. Yeah, he wasn't there, but if the criteria for the members is as reported, then it's a reflection of him.
Also, I really question his foresight for the game when his foresight in real life is subpar at best. He stuck with ELO boosting for "more monetary gains." That is simply short-sighted. Look at what "the best player in League of Legends" has now? A building named after him. Last time I checked, there's no Dopa Tower/Apdo Tower. Given this kind of visionary, or lack of, even if he was successful professionally, he likely would've went to China after winning one Worlds, like many did, whereas Faker was loyal and hard grounded to one region, and in fact, one team, to have this level of success and fame. Korea is very patriotic. Faker has this level of fame in Korea because he stuck with Korea through thick and thin, that's why he's a literal celebrity in Korea.
Finally, achieving what Faker did, he was selected for the Asian Games, and through that, he won Gold, which now exempts him from military service (even though he might have been exempt due to dropping out in education) but now with the Gold medal, he is considered to have served the country and doesn't need to be conscripted for sure unless he chooses to. Again, just short-sighted, and now he's in military, so no streaming or ELO boosting for revenue, while Faker is raking in cash from advertisements to rent.
Not to toot Faker's horn, but Faker visionary of the game and scene is clearly far superior than anyone else's given his choices that led to his success, so is Dopa/Apdo really equal or better? I don't think so.

Yeah, the bigger part of being Pro is keep your emotion under control while on big stage. It's really really hard to perform at your best in front of so many people. How many of us is just straight up freeze in front of class of 100 people? And we saw people making fun of Faker meditating before a match or his lack of emotion, but that's the result of warrior mental hardening over a span of decade.

hey let's be real here, with his personality, Elo-boosting was the right way to make money, done, that's it! as he matured he realized he's unsuitable to go pro, so he wouldn't make anything other than tarnish his reputation in pro league. mechanically and game knowledge, can't say that he's worse than Faker. I'm faker fanboy since 2013 but his foresight for himself is, IMO, right. streamer, elo booster, making as much as he could. the same case as to someone like Marin with a difficult personality, but happen to be in the right team and win world once, still a goat but coudn't last long.

It is fascinating reading all these piss low comments about Dopa, like they actually know him. "He doesnt got the mental for being pro", "Hes just a Solo Q player and would barely being a substitute midlaner." You dont know anything about him. All we know is, that this man got an insane knowledge and understanding of the game. Nothing more is needed in a competitive professional game. The unreal thing was how he could transfer it into Solo Q, where every variable is being unknown. Because there is always a different player in your team. Better or worse. Not in competitive play. Where every player and team knows one self and their strategies. Imagine Dopa would be a midlaner and shotcaller with 4 professional players. And yes, he was also mechanically gifted. In lower games he played stomp champs like katarina and fizz with ease and many more. Could swap to toplane if he needed to and play things like fiora. And then, in a certain higher elo he will switch to Twisted fate and something like Orianna, where as Macroplay dominates the game. Haters gonna hate. But he was one of the greatest and talented players known to play League of legends! 👊

Dopa was indeed a great player. That's no doubt. But Faker knowledge of the game was far superior than Dopa because Faker was a creator. He define the meta of mid lane role back in the day. But Dopa manages to innovate Faker's creation thats why he remains on top while Faker was sinking. Unfortunately, Faker catches up and manages to innovate. And not just that, his mentallity changes from a solo player to a team player. Now what differs both Dopa and Faker was how well Faker can manages to be insync with different type of pro team while Dopa only plays for himself still while innovating. So even if Dopa plays for Pro, i really doubt he'll win any trophies, maybe domestic title. Look at Chovy, he was never successful because he only plays for himself despite innovating certain Faker techniques. And when he realizes that he has to play for the team, it was too late, because T1 was too big of a wall for him to defeat.

I think it was a little premature to say Chovy is not successful but the truth is international titles will always mean more since it is against the best of the best amongst all leagues like the LPL. And until Chovy can prove his mettle internationally there will always be people who will never put him above Faker for that reason not that I think anyone can be put above Faker at this point especially if he wins one or two more international title. To me he is already the GOAT of LOL.

    • @WildRiftGameplayandTutorial

@@oreoyo5639 winning titles domestically and back to back isn't something to brag about especially when the meta doesn't change drastically in just a span of 2 years. If any, Caps should be the best example of being seconds best in terms of being consistent and map awareness, team playing just like Faker. The only difference between Caps and Faker is that there are good teammates and a mindset of Asian players. Chovy? Nah. He has never won any domestic titles in his rookie year. He was never changing until just recently but still fails. I really think what Chovy is lacking was the ability to see how he would lose the game in order for him to win. All he thinks about was how he will convert his mechanical talent into a win.

Why is Dopa/Apdo even considered a rival to Faker? It ain't even close. Dude is a god in Solo Q ain't even kidding. But like competitive is just a different breed of battlefield. Like, look at Poby who subbed in for Faker. Bro is actually a god in Solo Q that he got recruited by T1 and he looked like an absolute joke as Faker's replacement going 1-7 that tournament. This dude ain't even close to today's best players and he sure as hell ain't better than Faker or at least Chovy who is considered the second best midlaner in the world.
We need to stop judging people based on their Solo Q performance because if we do, do we put Tarzaned in the best junglers in the world? When Peanut, Oner, Canyon, Kanavi exists? He was rank one four times and he got so bored of the game that he don't even bother climbing anymore.
Dopa/Apdo is great, I'd say even a god in the game. But you can't compare competitive League to Solo Q. It's a different game.

    • @angelofthegospel1611
      @angelofthegospel1611 9 месяцев назад +2

It just shows how good Faker adapts.
He was just a sole Rank 1 SoloQ player as well, but with ideas no one knew.
Same for today, he used tactics that are the gold standards right now.
The comparison often made is because what Faker did to Pro-Play, Dopa did to SoloQ
For example Faker formed Mid lane saga and meta where you never die to jungle ganks and try to waste enemy time, and go more on a 2v2 with your jungler way than for example going solo.
Dopa invented a lot of wave managmenets and concepts techniques in solo Q what a lot of coaches now sell for a extreme high price and other solo q players like Agurin adapt.
No other solo Q player formed solo q like Dopa
same as no other Pro formed Pro Player like Faker.
its not about inividual level of power, where they booth exceed, its more on the revolutionary side of the game

at the end of the day, lol is a 5v5 game. as good as apdo is, faker has insame team presence, which is what actually wins t1 games in the competitive scene. for context, t1 once played without faker after faker joined, and they were coordinating as well as a bunch of headless chickens. for most of their games, faker doesn't have the biggest number in anything. what he does have is insane control. he makes the game move as he wants.

lmao solo q literally doesnt matter for pros. Chovy has beaten faker uncountable times in solo q. Faker has beaten Chovy uncountable times in solo q. NA pros have beaten faker. Faker has beaten NA pros in solo q. Numerous LCK pros have beaten Dopa uncountable times. It doesnt fucking matter. No one cares about Dopa anymore because he is just a really good solo q player, like many others.

Eh i think soloq is a nice comparison as a stat of mechanical skills 1v1 but I don't see how that makes you a GOAT given LOL is ultimately a team sport. Professional LOL and soloq is way different. Just coz you are the best at soloq doesn't mean you would immediately translate to winning in a professional league.

Never understood the hype around dopa. Hes just a good player in soloq. There have been several soloq gods. But with dopa people somehow think hes the goat. Its just soloq. Not professional play

First of all, Faker was one of those "Random SoloQ hero" back in the day. Second, Dopa/APDO has been improving the meta for the last 10 seasons. Third, he's not like the others "SoloQ gods", he actually have a good macro that could, in theory, apply to pro-play (Unlike Magifelix and many others) and a long etc.
