    For some New Leaf trivia:
On December 10, a heavy snowstorm is programmed to occur. With snow replacing the grass on December 11. On some years, however, a Fishing Tourney can also happen on December 10, and since most special events are programmed to have clear skies, this means the normal snowstorm will never happen. It'll be clear the entire day, then, suddenly, they'll be snow everywhere on the 11th.
Also, since most NL players seem to not know this, it is possible to save scum on Toy Day in NL to get all of the gift delivery perfect, by simply saving after receiving the magic bag from Jingle, then saving each time you give the correct gift to the correct villager. If you make a mistake, just reset.
    Anyway, happy holiday!

Actually, the GameCube can go much higher than 2099, and if you set the time to 23:59:59 it will tick over to 2100, and continue to count normally past there. It's just that the clock can only be set by the user to 2099, and attempting to change the time after 2100 will default back to 99

Hello. I like your video. In Japan, Christmas is often family and friends holiday, where you have parties and eat food. But Christmas Eve is couple holiday. You go out to do things with your partner. It is very romantic. The day before is sort of for giving small friend gifts. Japanese do not give gifts in public settings like parties so I think it's best to give them before!

I'm fairly sure that in the original game, "Toy Day" was just the event on Dec. 23rd, and Jingle's event was not given a specific name (it was called "Jingle Comes to Town" in a guide). But later games just used the name "Toy Day" for the actual Christmas event.

Now I’m curious-if you could do the collision glitch from the island and walk back to your town while it’s still in “summer mode”, would the igloo and snowmen render on the grass? It would definitely be silly and out of place but also kinda interesting to see.

7:11 Fun fact "holidays" like Christmas eve eve isnt only a thing in Japan! Here in the nordics we all it "small Christmas eve" and here its often used by divorced parents so that both parents can have Christmas with the kid(s). One of small Christmas eve with one parent and one on actual Christmas eve with the other. When i was a kid we also used the 23rd as the day you give "rissengrød" (literally rice porridge. its a kind of traditional Christmas food here) to the "nisse" to make him happy for Christmas almost like a Christmas gift for the house nisse.

    • @ZeldaTheSwordsman

@@Most-sane-deltarune-fan 1. With the GameCube versions, porting them might be more practical (because the GameCube is a real bugger to emulate). In the event of ports, I would expect them to either only port Population Growing and Forest e+... or just port Forest e+ (which is, after all, the platinum master version of the game) and give it the localizations from Population Growing where needed.
      2. Forest+ actually doesn't _have_ the 2030 limit AFAIK. The 2030 limit is a symptom of Population Growing for whatever reason (my money's on "broke it while removing a Japan-only holiday") replacing/dummying out the lunisolar date calculator with a (partially-botched) table of pre-calculated lunar dates, and said table only goes as high as 2030. I don't know if Forest e+ shares this table, or has the lunisolar date calculator restored.

At 3:19, notice how the player doesn't stop while the screen moves-- in my experience, changing screens like this prevents the acre from fully loading, so that may be why there are no houses (notice how the house is around the middle of the acre rather than near the screen you entered from, meaning the game didn't need to load it before the player entered). Did you have noclip active? Noclip is how I skipped over the 'stop player movement and load next acre' check.
EDIT: Ack, you figured it out before I commented! I wrote my comment while watching the video and checked the description afterwards. Well, at least you got confirmation! The noclip code I use has a toggle, whereas yours seems to be constantly active. Try running into the screen transition rather than walking into it, that should be more consistent!

    • @Hunter-R.

I was extremely determined to do this though so I had dressers in my house with full outfits saved. I remember not taking many outfit changes with me, if any now that I'm thinking about it. I just had to catch him a lot. It's still my favorite furniture set and I'm never changing it ever. Regarding the GameCube clock, I want to say that if you set it to December 31st 2099 and let it pass midnight, it goes over into 2100 as normal and continues to keep correct time; though it resets back if you ever try to adjust the clock again after that.
Not 100% sure on this and I don't feel like booting up Dolphin to test, but to be fair I believe the GameCube clock still has a definite end date to it _at some point_ similar to Animal Crossing's.

So, for the lighthouse events, the January and February events are two separate vacations, so they both happen each year, and they have separate rewards. The lighthouse model you mentioned is the reward for January, while chocolates is the reward for February.
Also, interesting thing with using the clothing trick to get multiple things from Jingle, is that if you do that, other player characters in the town won't be able to get anything from him that visit, because he runs out of presents, and he even tells them that you tricked him, referring to you by name. I discovered that because I just have multiple characters in my towns for various reasons, but I'm sure that back in the day, some kids probably ended up angry at their siblings over that.

So basically, you're telling us that Animal Crossing will have its own Y2K bug?
Or more closely to the Year 2038 Bug (32-bits integer/Unix Time) glitch.

So saving makes the game stop counting the clock. But question for you- if we never save, how far can the game correctly count time?

i have a speical interest in animal crossing. very speical to me. your videos are very nice and comforting and im glad other people like the niche of werid ac logic and facts. (even if i already know 90% of the stuf lol)

I presume it wouldnt be that hard to extend the AC GC year limit (unless it uses 32 bit signed unix time)

  • @kingbrettpro

Heh, I don't care if I can't play AC beyond 2030. As long as I can play the NES and FDS ROMs I injected into my virtual memory card via Dolphin, I'm happy. Animal Crossing is my favorite game in the series due to the ability to play NES Games, a feature that never saw the light of day in the games that came after it.

Wow, does that mean that if you left your game on for a year after the 2031 new year, your villagers would acknowledge 2032 and so on?
