- Another gem from the album "A Special Part of Me", original release in 1984 by Columbia, recently re-released and mastered, with two expanded tracks of the hit "Simple", by Funky Town Grooves. This track, "One Love" is one of Johnny's vulnerable style ballad pieces, amongst both up and smooth tempo numbers. Included is the remake of the soul classic 'Love Won't Let Me Wait" (duet with Deniece Williams) a hit on Billboard's adult contemporary charts, and the album peaked at #5 in UK Pop charts. This is my lucky night and I am so happy to have "stumbled" on two beautiful compositions sung by the incomparable and unique Mr. Johnny Mathis: "One Love" and "When the Lovin' Goes out of the Lovin' ". Mr. Johnny Mathis would undoubtedly have been knighted if he were British. What a gifted, sensitive and gentle artist he is. I can only express myself in superlatives when I refer to him. I saw Johnny Mathis in concert at least 15 times and met him a few times. He's as beautiful a man as he is a singer.

I saw him live in Chicago in 1976 and I swooned. He is a great flatterer and I sucked it all up. My husband was glad for me to be so moved by this crooners voice and presence. We went back stage and it was great to see him close.

I've loved the voice of Johnny Mathis since I heard his first song, when I was a young teen. I've got all his albums and for me he's one of the greatest male singers of all time. I never tire of listening to him. His love songs can rip my heart out of my chest and bring tears to my eyes. Barry Manilow has the same effect on me. Guess I'm just a hopeless romantic!
