“The Thing That Should Not Be” by Metallica is inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft, a renowned science-fiction and horror writer. The song references Cthulhu, a fictional ancient creature from Lovecraft’s stories. Here’s the backstory:
Cthulhu is an enormous, hideous being that dwells deep beneath the sea.
The people of Innsmouth, a port town, fear the “Deep Ones,” who are human-like underwater residents. These Deep Ones both worship Cthulhu and breed with the towns people.
If someone sees Cthulhu, they supposedly lose their sanity, which explains the mention of “madness” in the song.
The lyrics convey the terror of encountering the unknown and the consequences it brings They also do a song called The Call of Ktulu.

@213amp my first time we on the Justice Tour the opening band was Faith No More even before no more came out the crowd was Chanting Metallica Metallica. Metallica into no more 2nd song the singer got so Pissed off you could not hear them we walked off the Stage it was great and Metallica was so loud back then my Ears Rung for a week but it was fine I walked with a smile because I just seen the Baddest MotherFuckers on the planet 🤘😁🇺🇲🤘

Yay! One of my favorites! Its based on one of HP Lovecrafts stories...and now im obsessed with Lovecraft. They call him the father of cosmic horror.. movies like the thing, aliens and in the mouth of madness are based on his short stories.

A god who is older than time itself. It is said that when he awakens you will either go bat$h¡t crazy or be or have everything about you be (including your soul) be utterly destroyed into nothingness. Beeteedub I saw in the comments somebody recommended Hangar 18 by Megadeth. If you decide to do this, can you make it a double reaction? It has a second part called Return to Hangar.
