    In this video I check out the BlinkX Time Lapse Controller and SolarX Solar Power Enclosure from CamDo. The Blink X allows for a lot of fine control over the scheduling of your timelapse. It can control the GoPro HERO5, turn the camera on and off, change modes, and take photos and video. This means you can program your camera to only turn on and take time lapses between 8am and 5pm. The Solar enclosure combines a water-resistant housing and always on power bank to allow you to deploy your BlinkX and GoPro Camera in remote areas for long periods of time.

    Construction site would be a nice way to keep the owner happy. Like someone else mention, to monitor wildlife would be another use. Seems to be designed for the outdoors with the case. I believe for inside there are more affordable options.

    Thanks Martin for your content I take advantage of this recent video of yours to ask you something about the external audio of the hero 3+, I bought the external audio kit which includes the dedicated usb cable and a lavalier but it doesn't record audio, you know if the problem is really the lavalier that you need a powered one or something else needs to be set in the menu...

    Wow amazing video! How did you set up the camera and did it overheat at any point? I have to shoot a 30 days timelaps for a customer in 2.7k, 5minutes intervall with 3600 photos for a 4 minutes video. The storage for that are only 20GB, so is it possible to run the camera for 30 days, when using a cable to power it? Or does it shut down for overheating? Thank you for yout time! Regards, Lukas

    Does the scheduling allow for the camera to be powered up into video modes? I do some rocket launch (spacex etc) photography and video is tough. We often set remote cameras 12+ hours ahead of launch for safety reasons so the gear sits and waits. For stills a Miops and DSLR is more than enough 'cause they're in sleep mode until a sound trigger. MIOPS won't trigger video at this point so if this can be scheduled for a time to start rolling video for "X" amount of time... Game Changer for that scenario. Does it work with hero 7 black yet? Thanks, good video

      Hi John, thank you for your questions. Yes the controller can power up the GoPro into video mode. We are currently working on UpBlink compatibility with the Hero 7 black.

    Nice solution, pricing is a bit steep but then it is more a professional implementation and then pricing is something that can be overcome.
    Suggestions for application; observations over time for traffic, human behaviours (parking, market, queueing) to measure efficiency etc.
    For example, a community is complaining about traffic running often a red traffic light.
    Rather than installing a quite expensive traffic camera (linked with a citation/ticket system), one could deploy this solution (preferably inconspicuously) to observe over time if the running thru red traffic light is indeed true. With smart analysing software, post production could give tangible numbers & statistics.
    A community complaints about heavy traffic going thru town centre. Using this solution, one could observe over time if indeed traffic is predominantly heavy goods etc. (rather than the tube-over-ground counting systems).
    And there are more "enforcement" & observation-suggestions one could think of.
    Such as observation of an intersection about traffic-flows over time, utilisation of parking spaces, for example.
    This solution could be an excellent temporary solution to find out if a more permanent solution is needed.

      Hi Inspector Gadget, thank you for your great suggestions! I will pass these ideas on to our team. Many of our customers deploy CamDo camera systems in amazing places, such as for monitoring glaciers, recording stadiums and skyscrapers being built, even doing underwater projects - cam-do.com/pages/applications.

    • @CamdoSolutions
      @CamdoSolutions 3 года назад

      Hi KennethRungsted, yes that is correct you can schedule a periodic time for the camera system to make itself available to stand near the camera and download images. An easier solution is to connect the UpBlink to the internet using wifi or cellular modem. Using our CloudX platform you can receive camera status updates, access the latest images, and more, from anywhere in the world - cam-do.com/pages/cloudx.

    • @CamdoSolutions
      @CamdoSolutions 3 года назад

      Hi Michaelmontano1, The best way to do a 6-9 month construction time lapse is by using UpBlink with CloudX (cam-do.com/pages/cloudx). This will allow you to access the camera images remotely and receive regular camera status updates. Check out our packages that contain everything you need to get started - cam-do.com/pages/construction-time-lapse-packs.

      Hi Sompong, great question. Yes you can access the images at any time via a scheduled window and standing near the camera or by connecting the CamDo system to the internet using wifi/cellular modem and logging in to our CloudX platform to retrieve images and video remotely - cam-do.com/pages/cloudx.

    I actually did a "competitor" for this, back in '14: chernowii.com/megalapse But I vouch for the BlinkX + waterproof case. My solution needs constant power from the mains and you better pray the camera does not turn off. Back then when Blink didn't exist I used this for some environmental work.

    I agree that as a tool for scientist & naturalist, this would would make a great professional tool. I don't imagine to many amateur videographers would make much use of it. But it's potential is great. If it was really water proof, it would be great for the study of coral reef growth & death, or marsh degradation. 🐠 Someone could film and study the rate of the polar ice caps melting? (So we can estimate when, we humans will finally destroy the earth, from pollution!) Or just film lettuce growing? How about building a border wall? That may take years to accomplish. And we can see how many people actually sneak across it, each week! FUN 😁

    • @CamdoSolutions
      @CamdoSolutions 3 года назад

      Hi Chris, you are absolutely right. Our rugged weatherproof enclosures are perfectly suited for long-term outdoor projects. The solar panel and low power consumption mean that the time lapse project can last for years! Here are some more applications that users are deploying CamDo systems in - cam-do.com/pages/applications.

    Yeah. Good luck with tech support. Every time you send a question they send an automated response than you have to fill out a form. Have another question you have to repeat the process. I wasted more time going back and forth with emails than the actual installation and I did not get this system. I made my own enclosure and used the exact components in this video minus the solar panel. My issue was the time zone coding in the firmware needed to be updated. When they finally got back to me I went to the site downloaded the updated firmware and discovered I needed a password Oh shit..... had to request the password via their support email system and had to fill out forms again. This is the kind of bullshit they don’t talk about.
