I've never heard of Louhi before personally - the Kalevala somehow eluded my general mythological knowledge base - but the fact that you identified her as an anime character in around 3 seconds I find both deeply amusing and kind of heartwarming.
That's why I'm extra surprised about them including Kalevala in FGO in the first place, it's not known outside of Finland much at all because it's basically just our folklore versus something like the Norse stuff which kinda covers all of Scandinavia instead so it's much more known in comparison.

The fact they give us Abby (the quintessential foreigner), and put her in the pretender class, from all the classes posible, is really sus. That said with the anniv and last oc i just gived up in try predicting what they wanna do next.
Ngl. That reveal is really cool. Showing her standing alone in the middle of dark forest holding a lantern... With that mysterious appearance too... 10/10
@@bloody5081 Disagree. When even nasuverse OCs can sell massively well the "well they're not well known so they wont sell well" excuse doesn't really apply anymore. And even if its true just give them the welfare or lower rarity slot and it wont affect their sales

I'd argue that most servants when they were first released aren't well known to most of the playerbase. They gained their popularity through how they are written in the game itself. Take the lb6 faeries for example. How many of the players who grailed them did so because they were fans of their irl mythologies, and how many did so because of their character design, gameplay and story? Well known characters written poorly aren't going to sell, and previously unknown characters written well are going to sell, I really think it's just that simple.
I only really know about the Kalevala through JRR Tolkien. He made his own Kullervo story with the tale of Túrin Turambar in the Silmarillion. That story is expanded on in The Children of Húrin.
As someone of Norwegian descent, I’m glad that the Finns finally got some representation. Here’s hoping that we get Julenisse or the Kraken, or any other being from Scandinavian and/or Finnish mythology and folklore as servants one day

there are 4 things that i have been waiting for new servants: 1. the original ver of the pseudo servants 2. the components of fused divine servants 3. more male counterparts for the genderbends 4. phh version of losbelt servant. this announcement fulfilled 1 of them, restored my faith on fgo, i don't think ill stop playing it for another long, long time (please buff Gil further for me Gilfanboi)

Don't really think so. Servants from the more unknown mythologies probably don't sell well as the ones from popular mythologies.
