  • Although not a new blade this is the updated version. Benchmade makes a great blade and this is no different. If you need a good edc blade that doesn't draw much attention, then this is the blade for you. Again I'm not paid or sponsored by ANYONE so my reviews are genuine. That being said I only review the things I can personally put my stamp of approval on and feel confident enough about said product to recommend it to whoever is intrested. Please sub and like and I'll keep pumping out more content. Thanks

      These are the new ones... The picture isn't updated yet that's all. I bought another one for my wife 2 weeks ago from this link... www.amazon.com/dp/B00JPFWGSA/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_pL4QEbG778PJD

    Did you order this off their official site? Or from 3rd party seller?

      Smokey Mountain Knife Works actually. Its been a while though. I actually carried it for a good 6 months. Now it stays on the front of my 5.11 Push Pack. Fits perfectly

      Though I did order the Freek directly from them. Sometimes when paying over $200 for a blade I like things to be official as possible incase I ever run into any warranty issues. Not sure about BM but some companies don't like to warranty blades from 3rd party sellers. I'm actually going to make a quick video about that soon

    Hi, which knife do you think is better for self defense the Benchmade SOCP Dagger or the Tops CUT 4.0?

    • @Tier1GearEDCReviews
      @Tier1GearEDCReviews  3 года назад +1

      In my honest opinion for just self defense. The SOCP dagger... The CUT 4.0 will definitely do the trick of course but is a little less concealable right out of the box. If you get an UltiClip or the Tops spring clip for the 4.0 it will conceal and carry soooo much better. Also you can use it for many other things. But strictly for self defense the SOCP is a much easier carry. Hope that helps🍻👊🏼

      @@Tier1GearEDCReviews Ok thanks and what do you carry for self defense?

    • @Tier1GearEDCReviews
      @Tier1GearEDCReviews  3 года назад +1

      Honestly being a reviewer it changes from day to day. I always have something cool in the pocket. But if I had to choose 1 blade to carry every day strictly for self defense it would definitely be something with a ring and curved handle like the CUT 4.0. Just because you have more of a grip that’s comfortable and is long enough to do some serious damage if needed. Plus it’s awesome at Bushcraft lol. The SOCP is a 1 trick pony basically. Yeah it has a sharp edge, but not much of one.

    Why do you have not the double edge version SOCP 176?

    • @Tier1GearEDCReviews
      @Tier1GearEDCReviews  3 года назад +2

      I didn’t want that one. They both technically stab just as well as the other but if you needed to cut something like rope or straps, the blade isn’t really long enough to be effective. However with the serrations, they dig into stuff like that a little better and rip right through it. Basically it’s an emergency situation blade for me. I’m not gonna be cutting all kinds of stuff with it. I have other stuff more effective at that. But if the situation was to happen and it was my only knife. I’d want it be able to perform. Another thing is a double edged blade creates a clean, easily stitched wound.... A serrated drop point? Not so clean🍻

    • @MrJohnny333
      @MrJohnny333 3 года назад +1

      @@Tier1GearEDCReviews Do you think the drop point SOCP has a stronger tip than the double edge SOCP?

    • @Tier1GearEDCReviews
      @Tier1GearEDCReviews  3 года назад +1

      Oh yeah 100%. Where as the double edged one has no spine whatsoever, the Dp has one to kinda strengthen it up a bit. Being that thin anyway it’s not that huge of a difference. If you plan on scooping one up then either will serve you well. Unless you absolutely abuse it, I don’t see breaking really being an issue.

    • @Tier1GearEDCReviews

      @@squintygreeneyes The Kabar TDI Pocket Strike and TOPS I.C.E. Dagger, C.U.T. 4.0, and Devil's Claw 2 are all wider, but don't have a similar sheath design and are bigger in general. Unfortunately I have not found a similar option with just a longer blade.
