    Have both the standard and mini and love 'em. Spot on about the sheath...the mini clip is a lot better and holds in place when drawing the dagger. They're pretty much the exact same thing, just an overall inch smaller and the blade's shorter but slightly wider throughout. Carry the standard in the middle of my CP rig and the mini under my ifak pouch by my lower back on my gun belt.

      @@leinadqse5300 You have a point. I actually have the full-sized SOCP dagger. So every time I go to draw the SOCP dagger I would always stub/hit my finger on that raised part at the top of the sheath. Hey Zach! I have a couple of questions. I have one of the full size and love it, but have problems with it poking me constantly because after awhile it gets annoying and noticable, and also the size, because it seems to kinda bulge out the back of my pants. I carry it to the left or right of my spine on my pants. The pocket clip is somewhat of a pain as well. Anyways,I was wondering if the leather sheath prevents an easier access, and does it stick out at all? Is it comfortable to carry for you? Also is the new pocket clip any better, and will the new pocket clip and leather pieces fit on a full size?

    • @zachstuff
      @zachstuff  5 лет назад +1

      Great questions AKC! I will be carrying it this week and report back. I know depending on where you carry it, the leather may bend over the top of the ring to draw the knife out, which would create a small obstruction it seems. The new pocket clip works well for me as it grabs and does not allow for the sheath to come out when you are drawing the knife! Check back with me later this week and I will update you. Thanks!

    If anyone is watching this in 2021 just spend the extra money and get the Spartan Blades CQB tool. It's made from better steel and you can request them to fully sharpen it. The SOCP daggers feel cheap, they have no beveling anywhere; it feels like it got punched out of a sheet of steel and that was it. The blade is also SUPER dull.

It's meant to be used almost exclusively in an overhand grip and with a stabbing motion, to create space between you and someone trying to grab your firearm. Therefore I don't see the serrations being any help or hindrance in that regard considering the motion would be forceful enough to make it not matter significantly at all.
      The serrations were probably added to give the user a redundant cutting edge for fibrous materials on his person, which obviously is at odds with the narrow focus of the tool.

    Isn't the point of a finger ring to make the SOCP Dagger easier to grab. So why then did Benchmade even think to attach a thick square piece of leather directly covering one side of the finger ring? Wouldn't adding that thick leather square just make accessing the finger ring more difficult/annoying? At least with the Mini SOCP Dagger Benchmade finally figured out a pocket clip that will actually keep the sheath attached to your pocket when you go to quickly pull out the SOCP Dagger. The original SOCP Dagger had a sheath with a standard Benchmade pocket clip wrapped with useless skateboard tape and the entire sheath itself would just end up coming out of your pocket along with the SOCP Dagger!!!

    • @jacobsalcido6466
      @jacobsalcido6466 4 года назад

      The way it's carried, even without the leather piece, it would be against a plate carrier, your skin, pants, edc. So the leather really doesn't hinder the draw. Works similar to a doggy door if that makes sense. But it keeps it from stabbing your love handles with that jimping haha.

      @@jacobsalcido6466 I actually carry the Spartan CQB Tool in the original large Benchmade SOCP Dagger sheath. I not only removed that shitty Benchmade clip covered in useless skate board tape, I added instead the NiteIze Eclipse that's essentially a super robust alligator clip that keeps the sheath from coming out of my pock at a draw the CQB Tool. I also dremeled the top of the SOCP plastic sheath because on one side there's a raised plastic lip, which I always seemed to stub my finger on as I tried to draw the knife using the finger ring. I don't get it, as a self-defense oriented weapon why would you want a smaller less pointy cutting edge? Here's what I personally did, I took off the standard pocket clip with useless shitty grip tape on it from the original full-size SOCP dagger sheath. Then I added to the sheath the Nite Ize Total eclipse - www.amazon.com/Nite-Ize-Total-eCLIPse-Self-Locking/dp/B00HUV8FWW. Here's the game-changer, I carry in the full-size SOCP dagger sheath with the Spartan Blades CQB Tool - spartanbladesusa.com/shop-all/cqb-tool/ - www.bladehq.com/item--Spartan-Blades-CQB-Tool-Fixed-Blade--33499. Also, I used a Dremel to remove the raised plastic lip that's on one side of the top of the plastic SOCP dagger sheath because I always seemed to stub my finger on it while trying to access the finger ring!!! The Spartan Blades CQB tool is also made of 154CM, which is better steel than the 440c of the Benchmade SOCP Dagger. The Spartan Blade CQB Tool also does not have that triangle hole in the middle of it like the SOCP Dagger does which to me is a huge weak/possible fracture point!!! The Spartan Blades CQB Tool actually fits perfectly inside the Benchmade SOCP Dagger sheath with the perfect retention level. I ordered the Spartan Blades CQB Tool directly from their website and the very next day Spartan Blades actually called my cell phone and asked how I would like my CQB tool ground. That was the first and only time a knife company ever called me and ask me that!!!! I told them that I was from NJ and can't legally carry a double-edged knife on me in public, so Spartan Blades only ground one edge sharp for me but they ground the entire edge. In the photo of the Spartan Blades CQB tool from their own website and from BladeHQ the CQB tool is only shown with the front half of the dagger sharpened, for me they sharpened one entire edge from tip to the very top near the triangle indent!!!

      Interesting carry and swap out. Looking at the CQB tool you linked, it does have the triangle hole same as the Benchmade SOCP.

      @@zachstuff That's where you're wrong, the Spartan Blade CQB does not have the same triangle holes as the Benchmade SOCP Dagger. The Spartan Blades CQB Tool actually has triangle indentations on each side of it. They just thinned the metal on each side enough to get the retention to work!!! Check this video out and you will see what I mean - ruclips.net/video/tdJ8KsD93AQ/видео.html

      I see the thinned out metal now. In the image on the 2nd of your links it looked like the same hole. Thanks for letting me know about being wrong!

      Why not use the sheath the Spartan blade comes with?

    • @ThomasConnolly
      @ThomasConnolly 4 года назад

      @@factspirate99 Because the sheath that the Spartan Blades CQB Tool comes with is very wide/bulky and the retention on it is to strong. The Benchmade SOCP dagger sheath is very narrow/slim and fits in the back/side pocket of my 5.11 pro taclite shorts/pants perfectly!!!

    Where are the pros for the Mini ? In a real Fight every inch counts.
    Maybe a Stab might be less deadly with the Mini, which is good on the street If you don't want Go to jail for the Rest of your Life.
