Normally they arrange it in such a way that male have male flat mates and females have female flatmates.
There are of course one person apartment available.
Can we get small Private Apartment, one room type or Studio type in Paderborn for WS 2023. Not sharing .

You usually don't need a lift because it's only one floor. In high rise building dorms there are lifts.
The apartment can be shared between male and female. You can go into any room if you have the permission of the other person to do so

Since one room has one bed, it'll be registered in the name of a single person.
But any gender can share a flat in which there are different rooms.

It's very difficult to find an accommodation in a day. Airbnb would be very much suggested in this case
