    My husband and I are hoping to move from the U.S. to Thailand, but were told that our registered investment advisor company won't manage our accounts if we live outside the U.S. for 6 months. Apparently, these companies will freeze your assets if they find out you're living abroad. We were told that we couldn't have investment documents sent to a P.O. Box. We were hoping to use a digital mail forwarding service. Leaving the U.S. without giving up our citizenship is more complicated than we thought. But, we'll keep investigating options.

      There's thousands of Americans living in Thailand still financially based in the USA. Renouncing citizenship for sub multimillionaires doesn't stack up financially. If you're rich enough to not care a bit about social security in your old age- sure, renounce.

    I'm on the left (healthcare, education, social programs for the elderly), but I feel most left leaning governments have lost their way. I don't mind paying taxes if they provide sustainable healthcare for example and spend the money responsibly. It mystifies me that people in America hate taxes but then don't mind paying 1000s of dollars in healthcare every month. Money is money. Here in Ontario my taxes are less than that of the average American when you include healthcare and co-pays. I pay nothing for healthcare, zero co-pay (deductibles) for healthcare. I get sick or have an injury and I pay nothing. I go get it taken care of. Is it perfect? Nope, but it is way better than people think. Americans have been lied to by their media.

    • @josiah5776
      @josiah5776 9 часов назад +10

      Believe me. Americans do mind paying 1000s of dollars in healthcare every month. They mind it very much. They especially hate paying high taxes after politicians promise healthcare, then having their healthcare costs rise even more. I guess this proves your point about the government spending money responsibly, which the US government certainly does not.

      I live in Ontario as well and I don’t know if you’ve needed health care recently but our system has gone to shit. Trudeau bringing in millions of Indians who have never payed into the system before along with increasing tax rates driving out skilled labour is doing a number on us. Waiting years for cancer treatment when it was diagnosed a long while back, a simple colonoscopy almost taking a year, lack of staff forcing healthcare facilities to hire absolutely incompetent nurses and doctors etc. Also, depending on your job and tax bracket, Ontario taxes are significantly higher than most American states and many high paying jobs in the states include healthcare insurance on top of the higher pay rates and stronger currency. I am planning to leave this country as soon as I have developed enough experience to be desired elsewhere (preferably Middle East or Southeast Asia) and most of my friends would do so in a heartbeat if they had the opportunities I have.

      Americans in that way are idiots especially when they spend more in healthcare without being free for every USA citizen, been from a European country yes they have been defunding the healthcare system and have a bloat at the management level and we have low staff after the pandemic still despite recent scandals for the most part works well instead of letting them try to implement the USA way of healthcare we should fight to improve the system again, er wait times are long because is free or cheap depending on the country so people without real emergencies go to the er creating longer wait times but if you have emergency with a red band you get priority basically skipping the line.
      It’s not perfect but at least we will not have tv dramas based on medical debt and denying now insurance patients like in “the resident”

    people have to do their research but in most countries things will change very slowly and politicians wont do much right now. in the west i think the far left is worse but after learning some languages and traveling i noticed that the far right is still a thing in many parts of the world with unhinged nationalism and religious extremism being quite common even in places were you won't expect it so you will face discrimination and things can also change quickly but its more cultural like obama in 2010 seemed to have a totally different ideology than in 2015. and lets not even talk about how much joe Biden changed over the years .i used to vote for the left in my own country but i saw them becoming woke and now i am supporting right wing politicians but i do wish the left would have a renascence and return to what they were like just 15 years ago. in many other countries the left is more sensible most true communist countries tend to become like that because of a revolution not elections and since the fall of the ussr it happens way less. the only countries i can think of that went full old school communist after 1990 is Venezuela and maybe Bolivia and nepal most countries that became authoritarian recently were taken over by military coups or religious extremists. in the west we do have a problem with wokness like in the uk its undermining freedoms and quality of life. but it still isn't that bad and wokness is really more like a distant spinoff of the far left that is nothing like what you see in non western countries and only became a thing in the last 10 years .

    How do we factor these changes in our future NOMAD plans??
    Those changes that l worry about, in Q1 and Q2, may not happen in our life time. But it may impact our aduld children's lives.
