Thing you learn first hour of welding class: welded areas are weaker and more brittle than original. This axle has already been welded and has failed again. It takes a whole lot of confidence to think this weld is going to work better than the previous one.
I would think that the weak "links" would be the heat affected zones after welding. As you're going to weld on your lathe anyway, wouldn't it be just as strong if you bored the hole as you did, tacked the shaft to inside of the hub, and then filled the hole with weld? Thanks for sharing.
There is a reason this was made as one solid forged piece. This shit job won't last on their grossly overloaded truck. I love reading the comments and seeing all the people who praise them for this crap. They, like the people doing the work, have no understanding of the forces on the axle.
Most of the 1/2 shafts on our vehicles were made in 2 parts and friction welded together followed by stress relief and then heat treating. We had lots of failures on both the weld and the shaft shattering.

Полная охинея! Лопнет на первом километре полной загрузки машины!
Несогласен, при полной загрузке, учитывая как они грузят он вряд ли тронется.
Good Job

Полуось порвало не от крутящего момента,а от люфта на подшипниках....
Может и подшипники а может мост гнутый , это не важно полуось уже не спасти.
