Yea. I've always wonder what happens if you refuse to give your pass or run. What kind of authority do Skii patroll have? Are they allowed to physically restrain you if you try to run? Would they call the cops? Although I doubt the cops would care much about a report of a snowboarder going down the mountain too fast.

Is that what you do when someone hits you in a car? No. So why would you do that on skis? People can get seriously hurt because of that kind of shit. Ski in control or don't go fucking skiing. Just because no one got hurt does not make it ok.
@@jurisprudence6549 Not sure why this requires an explanation, but I'll explain it... Cars are for transportation, and there is no way for a car to hit another car without causing damage to the car or the people driving them. Which is why we have all sorts of rules about where you can drive, how fast you can drive, stop lights, signs, licensing, police, etc. all to mitigate risk of a collision. Skiing/Snowboarding is a recreational activity where there is an agreed upon level of risk of all sorts of potential hazards in order to participate in a fun activity with others. Whether you're skiing, surfing, kite boarding, ice skating, or going to a roller rink, there is always a chance you might run into someone, or someone runs into you.
Just like there's a big difference between riding go-karts, bumper cars, or race car driving vs driving an SUV to the store to pick up groceries. You wouldn't expect to run into anyone while getting groceries, but you could very easily run into someone with those other "driving" activities because that risk is expected.
There's also a reason why we have terms like "getting out over your skis" for skiing, because occasionally, people get into situations where they lose a little control when trying something new. We don't have those terms for transportation because it isn't a recreation where people are learning and challenging themselves.
You would really enjoy life more if you removed the big stick from your ass.
@@oolong2 1. Not every vehicle accident results in damage or injury. 2. It's not as different as you make it out to be because people can and do get severely injured or die on ski hills. 3. One of the more dangerous types of crashes on ski hills are when two people collide. 4. It's definitely ok to try new things on the ski hill, trying to get better is awesome (never said it wasn't) but you definitely shouldn't be trying shit that is gonna cause you to be out of control if you're around a lot of people and causing the potential for an accident. Practice your skills when you're in a safe spot to do so and you won't run into some one. 5. I don't understand why thats so fucking hard for you dip shits in this comment section. 6. I don't have a stick up my ass I just want people to understand safe skiing practices so we can hopefully avoid more injuries. 7. Sure, accidents happen and if no one is hurt then be cool about it but if someone ever ran into me on the ski hill I'm gonna have something to say to them other than "haha oh man, that was so funny. I'm glad we are ok" more like "dude, you need to be more careful and not ski out of control if the potential is there to run someone else over.

@@etwanican_7439 He was lying on the ground so it couldn't have been too long after his fall, but yeah we don't have the whole context so we have no idea how soon the other guy jumped after he kid. He probably couldn't see and just assumed the kid landed and was gone already.
oolong2 - probably. That assumption should never be made. Honestly though jumps are so dangerous for that reason. you never know if the person in front of you landed or not.

So quick story. Me and a few friends will always go to our schools ski club. And on occasion on weekends. However throughout the 7 or 8 times we went last season I got hit by not 1, not 2, but 3 different kids with down syndrome. Long story short I am now called the downy magnet...

honestly like what the hell is wrong with them, taking their ski pass and not letting them ski the next day 5:12 for literally nothing. All he did was go around the person? take the douche's ski polls and chuck them in the woods with the rest of his condescending bullshit.
Which resort is this, so we can track down the ski patrol and kick the shit out of them.
I've been snowboarding in Germany, Austria, France and Switzerland, but never in my life have I seen interactions like these. Crashes and unfortunate accidents happen everywhere, but every single time I have crashed into someone or the other way around it is always resolved by a gentle wave and a questioning thumbs up from the one at fault. If the other guy lost their ski it feels like a custom to help them retrieve the skis. Bystanders will also help. I don't get how easily these people start so many avoidable fights.
How many times have you collided with people on the ski run dude? Maybe you should just hang up the ski boots. You know that shit is extremely dangerous right? I've skied my entire life and I have literally never run into another person on the mountain. It is honestly scary to see the attitudes of so many skiing youtube commentors who apparently do not give a flying fuck about people being safe on the mountain. I hate these videos because of comments like this. It is not ok to ski out of control and run into people. You can seriously fuck someone up doing that and the nonchalant attitude of so many comments on these youtube videos is just baffling. Where are all the real skiers at saying "ski in control and don't hit runs that are above your level." "folks downhill from you have the right of way" because apparently that is sorely lacking from the youtube ski community.

Just finished a weekend of skiing in Whitefish, MT and every chair lift has multiple signs that say almost exactly what I said above. "Ski in control and in a manner in which you can safely avoid people and objects in front of you". So all you youtube morons can think of me what you will, I know for a 100% fact that what I'm advocating is not only important for safe skiing but it is also a standard rule of the mountain at just about every single ski resort.

@@FcChelsea99 Yes, and my gripe is that the people in the comments seem to have 0 concern for this happening and mostly think its funny that they ski out of control and run into people and then I see people skiing irresponsibly on the mountain and it gets on my nerves. People just don't seem to care about the others skiing around them and have no desire to actually practice their abilities they just want to race down the mountain out of control and hope they don't run anyone over. A five year old girl died in Switzerland this winter from some ass hole running her over, it's very dangerous to ski out of control and people don't seem to care so it pisses me off.

People should stand to the side, but technically you are wrong. They are the downhill rider even if they are moving slow or standing still. Uphill rider has the responsibility to avoid them

I believe in the skiers code i see everywhere it is actually printed not to stand in dangerous areas and keep off of steep trails to the side. Not to mention when people are flying down a Black Diamond run it's probably bad practice to just stand in the middle of it all. Looked pretty steep. I get it traveling with a group you want to keep everybody together and my legs need a break halfway down sometimes anyway but please find a decent spot
@@joe5834 exactly. Guy seemed to be saying he had right of way cuz he was a skier when in fact he was just standing there. So dangerous. Kills me seeing people sit in the middle ALL the time.
If you are above anyone on a ski slope, YOU are the uphill skier, and THEY are the downhill skier, regardless of whether they are standing still or moving. I get it, they shouldn't be standing in the middle of a run, that's dangerous too and they are inviting more risk, but the uphill person ALWAYS is responsible for maintaining control and avoiding collisions. The only exception to that is in the parks. If a downhill skier cuts across the transition or landing of a jump, they are in the wrong.

They don't think, that is a problem.
Some people are just learning to ski, they hit the jump, they fall down and just get stuck behind the jump, trying to understand what happened while slowly recovering from the concussion. it's not really their fault.

@@LLesof I agree but when you crash into someone that is standing behind a jump how can you know if he was just chilling out standing like an idiot behind a jump or he was trying to recovery after a fall? The moral of the story is that when you go skiing you are not alone, on the same track there are lots of people with very different levels of skill. You must be careful, always.

That ski patrol guy towards needs to be fired. This will be my 4th season working and 12th season skiing at the same mountain coming up, so I know what I'm talking about.
