    Last fall I bought one of Dewalt's "atomic" drills kits. It came with a DCB107 charger. A few days ago I bought their cable stapler and it came with a DCB112 charger. I didn't think there would be much chance but I thought "what the heck..." and I searched for DCB107 vs. DCB112. Your video came up. It told me exactly what I was looking for. Basically the 112 charges a little faster. I've never been in a hurry when charging batteries so I think I'll just stick with the 107 until it gives out. Now I've got a spare! :-)

    Very interesting; I bought a DCF610S2 a few months back (great little driver) and it came with the DCB107. My DCK281D2 came with the DCB101 charger. I didn't even think to take into account the charging times, though I did notice the 107 took longer to charge the 12v max batteries (1.5ah).
    Two things I do like about the 107 though is the compact size, and the fact that it's wall mountable.

    Javier, you rock man! In 5:06 I learned about the main differences of 3 different Dewalt chargers, very simply. Great graphics too. The DCB 101 that came with my drill kit was "lost" (more like stolen) by a FORMER employee. Not to worry, I took it out of his pay, but, I see all these chargers, with no clue what the difference is other than the most obvious, size. I figured it would have to do with charging time or features, but, didn't really know. My biggest concern was, will it even be compatible with the batteries I have? You know how some of these manufacturers change up the pins and cases on their battery so it doesn't work on old stuff. Anyway, you convinced me to go find the DCB 101, or at least a 112, thank you!!! Keep up the good work. Hope to see more videos from you.

    I just got a DCB105 charger with my DCK255P2 kit. I all ready have the DCB107 charger that came with the basic kit That I originally bought. I didn't realise there was a difference with the chargers till I watched this video. Well apart from it would take almost 5 hours to charge a 5AH battery as opposed to under 2 hours.

    I wanted to know if I could charge a larger battery with the DCB 107. Now I know that I can and it will take longer to charge. I want to charge a 3.0ah battery with my DCB 107 charger to add work time to my mini shop blower.
    You answered my question dead on with the chart of charge times for each charger type. Great video! Thank you..

  • @rudiarntson3540
    @rudiarntson3540 8 лет назад +1

    Also I wanted to add that I have the DCB101, which came with my brushless drill and impact driver set, it does charge batteries very fast, which I value. I think I would definitely avoid the DCB112 due to its slow charging times, although the smaller size is more convenient for storage. DeWalt says that they now have the DCB115 to replace all the others, I am looking forward to Toolcraze's review on it's performance.

  • @Tomcat6541
    @Tomcat6541 9 лет назад +4

    Fast charging rates seem better, but fast charging rates are made with near capacity charge voltage. And higher charge voltage deteriorates the cells faster through heat, while a lower charge voltage provides a better saturation charge, less heat and a longer service life. Add to that, a better saturation charge will make the battery last longer on each charge... I have all 3 of these chargers for my 20 volt Dewalt tools. I keep the DCB 101 on the truck for rapid jobsite charging, but when I get home, I prefer to recharge the flats on the slower chargers. The DCB112 in my shop, and the DCB107 on the bar in my kitchen.. An awesome comparison would be to use an infra red thermometer to monitor temperatures during the charge cycles and timed output comparisons. The DCB 107 also charges the 12vMax batteries that I use for the LED lightbars on my mountain bike lol.. The compact size and light weight make these batteries ideal for 12 volt LED lighting

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  9 лет назад

      Tomcat6541 fast charging is perfectly fine as long as the charger properly monitors heat and keeps it in check which the "fast" charger dcb101 does an excellent job of. Makita has had rapid chargers that charge much faster than these with no problems, even Milwaukee came out with a faster charger recently. I wouldn't worry about fast charging, I've been using them for years and not one battery issue- and my main batteries get cycled very often

    Everyone has one of these chargers if they buy dewalt 20v power tools to work with all the time like I do. It comes with the Impact Drivers which have become very popular on construction jobs. I'm an electrician and have several impact drivers so I've got a few of these chargers laying around. Charging time is not an issue because you have to buy multiple batteries cause you don't have time to wait for batteries to charge while you're working. Something that may save you some money and bring that old 18v dewalt drill you've got laying around into the future is a battery converter that clips into the 18v allowing you to use 20v max batteries in your 18v dewalt drill saving you from having to buy a $300 drill then the batteries your company uses will clip into your drill 😉

    Good info. I’ve got a 107 charger and just bought a 12-20v max XR battery to go with my brand new DeWalt trimmer.
    The trimmer runs for about 7 minutes and that’s it! I don’t know if I have a bad trimmer, or a bad battery. The battery shows “charged”, when on the charger. But when I put it back on the trimmer, it runs for about 10 seconds and no more. WTF?

    Tool Craze, I have the DCB107 charger for the DeWalt 20V drill. When I plug my dead battery into the charger, the light on the left stays solid red. What does that mean? Trying to understand what it should look like when the battery is fully charged. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  8 лет назад +2

      A solid left light means its charged, but obviously if the battery is dead and its showing full charge, then either the battery is busted or the charger. Here's the charger manual I found with a quick google search www.manualslib.com/manual/792113/Dewalt-Dcd771-Xe.html?page=9

    Javier, a bit late now I know, But just wandering if you have pics of the bottom of these charges that show the output. In Australia we have the DCB115 that looks like your DCB112 and we have the DCB105 that looks like your DCB101, I have not paid attention to the charging times, but I haven't really noticed a difference. I had a look at the bottom and both have a 4A output, But the VA output is different. DCB105 has Output: 4A 22V - 195VA and the DCB115 has Output: 4A 22V - 88VA, so wandering if yours are the same or if one is 2A and the other 4A ???

  • @codyrobertson4630
    @codyrobertson4630 10 лет назад

    Javier bosch did the same thing with their 18 volt brushless kits. They are putting the (Bc660) 1 hour charger in the kits. For some reason they are not putting the BC630 (30 min) charger in any of their kits anymore. The old BC630 is fast and it can charge a dead 3.0ah battery in 30 minutes. Bosch probably figured that with a brushless tools you won't need to change as many batteries to get you through the day.

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  10 лет назад

      Cody Robertson I don't think that's a good move, I care about recharge times. Even with brushless tools you can kill a 4.0 battery quickly. In part 2 of the hammer drill challenge in wood it only took around 14 minutes to drain those batteries

    I have the the dcb101 and dcb115 (came with my blower). Use the 101 the most because of the quick recharge time.

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  8 лет назад

      +Dubious Jesse interesting, I didn't know they came out with a another charger model. It's hard to keep up with all of the new dewalt chargers. I did some quick googling and it seems the dcb115 is about as quick as the dcb101. I found a dcb115 being sold in acme tools and they say it can charge a dcb205 5.0ah battery in 90 minutes which is the same charge time for the same battery with the dcb101.
      Also interesting that this new charger came with the blower. When I bought the blower it came with the dcb101 charger.

    I have a DCB107 charger for my heated jacket. When I plug it in, literally nothing happens. The light never turns on, it does not charge. It's always been kept indoors, never been damaged, it worked for the last 2 winters just fine. Any idea how to fix it? I can't get the screws apart on the bottom because they have an exceptionally strange head.

  • @andywagner212

    Main thing is, look at the output amps on the charger. For work I have a dcb101, it has a 4 amp output which is great since I'm using 6ah flex volts. If you have a 3ah batteries or higher dont go with the cheaper chargers. Get one that has an output of 2 amps or more.

  • @MatthewFant

    Once again, couldn't have possibly done a better job myself. Very cool, very informative. And I completely agree on a very critical point: if I'm buying a brand like Dewalt, I expect awesome performance, and the best of the best. That's why I never really got why they released the entry level dcd771 drill. If you want a cheap drill, there's no shortage in the marketplace. Even from their sister brands. Now the chargers too? Come on Dewalt. Really?

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  10 лет назад +1

      Matthew Fant Thanks Matthew. Exactly! they have their other brands for that or a good idea would be to make the batteries and tools compatible. It would be awesome to use my dewalt batteries on some black and decker lawn tools or vice versa. And I really dig the pricing on 20v max porter cable bare tools

      I have the heavy duty Dewalt Hammer/Drill/Driver but in XR 18v, with full metal collar, etc.. I needed a lighter weight smaller for just drilling and driving and when I didn't need all that weight behind the drill. Just picked up the DCD771c2 kit for $90 at HD.. Perfect addition to the tool kit.. may add one or two 2 mAh batteries.. but will see how far the 1.3's take me. So for me, staying with Dewalt, even if a more lower functional drill than my 18V XR, was worth $90..

    Help please for DCB 101 DeWalt Charger!! (I have some DeWalt tools) working with 20V Lithium ION Battery. In Canada it works with 110V. I am taking it to Europe where there is 220V. I have an adapter plug. 1/Can I use the battery charger in the EU without damaging it? 2/ What Volt converter /adapter do I need for this charger? Include image links + info please. Your help would be great. Thank you!!

      avaavauser not sure if it would damage it or not, sorry :( although I do know that a charger bought over there will charge our american / Canadian 20v batteries. Except their 20v max batteries are called 18v XR batteries so must be the newer slide pack style chargers

    Interesting, I would have thought the highervthe number the faster the charge times, ex:112 faster than the 101. I was just looking at a manual and noted the charge times, and was surprised to see the 103-102-101 all faster than the 112, but the 107 is slowest of them all. The 113 and above all faster than the 112. Stay away from the 107 and 112 for sure.
    ---Unless someone can verify it has some magical reconditioning chip in it that revitalizes batteries?

      the slower chargers are all simply budget chargers Dewalt tosses in some of their kits to cut corners and ultimately cost on their end to maximize their profits. There are no special features on these slower budget chargers. I don't blame dewalt too much for cutting costs as they sometimes pass the savings onto us the consumer with lower priced kits than what you'd find in other cordless brands. Take the DCD771 kit for example, when that came out it was a dewalt branded cordless drill with charger and two batteries for $99 when the competition had similar kits for closer to $199. How did Dewalt do it? They made a lower spec'd drill, threw in one of these budget slower chargers and threw in a couple of low capacity 1.3ah batteries. All methods of cutting cost for a lower end product for the consumer. The good news, they offer lower priced options, the bad news is that it waters down their brand image knowing you might get sub par performance in a pro brand.

    Hi looking for confirmation and advice....will a UK dcb 107 charger charge a USA xr 20v max battery? I imported a Dewalt drill kit from the US to Thailand . We run on 240v not 110v which the US charger works on, So rather than post everything back the cheapest option it to buy a new 240v charger . So can someone confirm 100% that a UK dcb 107 charger will charge a 20v 5 amph usa battery? though this video is excellent and seams to answer my question very clearly. Would still like confirmation from anyone 100% 18v dcb 107 charger will charge a XR lithium 20v USA battery. anyone?

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  8 лет назад +1

      from what I've heard, you can use usa batteries and tools with UK or other country dewalt 20V/18V xr batteries and tools. I believe the only difference is the charger is designed to be used to a specific voltage that the country uses, other than that they should be interchangeable.
      I recently bought a camera from Uk and the camera and batteries work fine with my usa cameras, batteries and charger, although I can't use the uk charger that came with my camera because it's for 240v but I already have usa chargers so it's fine

      Tool Craze Thanks so much for the heads up...Iv'e done lots of checking my self and yes for all out there you can charge 20v 18v 12v 10.8v even 16v dewalt xr batteries on UK chargers all compatible only differences as you say is the US uses 110-120v system!!! UK/Thailand most of the world 220v-240v. which means have a DCB 107 dewalt XR 12v-20v charger absolutely mint new unused usa 110-120v input charger at a ridiculously low price just $35. (I've had to fork out for a new 220v-240v charger Dewalt and the Ebay suppiler didn't want to know so much for dewalt global customer service....... Big thanks to you anyway bro for all you excellent help and advice keep up the vids. ant

  • @chafedbm

    I received a DCB112 with the brushless drill and impact driver combo. I don't pay much attention to the charge times, but then again, with these brushless tools, I'm not charging them a lot. I did notice that my DCB112 emits an electrical buzz or hum whether it is charging a battery or not. Does anyone else have a DCB112 that does this? I am considering calling up Dewalt and getting it replaced. Faulty chargers = Fire Hazard

  • @kevinisawake

    POOR PEOPLE - also want Dewault Branded Hight End Tools hence the reduction in size, features and COSTS. If the Chargers and Batteries cost less then we can just buy the bare bone tools for cheap - once every 3 months or so.

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  6 лет назад

      Instead they should make another brand that's still good but lessor features and performance for less, oh wait they already do. It's called Porter Cable.
      Making inferior tools only waters down the brand name which causes confusion.

      Hagan Ace Hardware told me to contact DeWalt. I finally talked to a human there, and she had me email her some info. I expect to hear from them soon.

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  8 лет назад

      you could also do a store return for an exchange of the same item where you bout it from, that's way faster and easier than dealing with the manufacturer

    • @GunBigotHater
      @GunBigotHater 8 лет назад

      The Ace Hardware told me to call the manufacturer. They took some info on the charger, and asked for some codes on it, then asked me to plug it in for 15 minutes to see if it got hot. It did not. I told them so in an email, and recently was answered that they WILL be sending a new one to me.
      DeWalt is back in my good graces.
      DeWalt has a good reputation, but reputation is just people talking. When you see first hand, the reputation is solid; you know it's real. Their NO HASSLE WARRANTY is now SOLID.
      I will by more DeWalt stuff, and would recommend it to friends.
