    Purchased these from Tire tack after re-stock. All four pads, these work very well and of all things, very little brake dust and max stopping power. I was in traffic on the St. John bridge inPDX and made a panic stop. Brakes grabbed and I stop immediately, a little tire screech but never the lest, I stopped on a dime! The brake dust is virtually all gone now, not as much as before with the old pads. Great buy, great purchase, great video! Another one from AF!

    pretty consistent with what i found with 4 piston brembos on my s197, about 9-10 hard stops from 80-20mph before theyd be cooked, worked great when cold, worked even better when a little warmer. only issue i've had is the dust is caustic as hell, DO NOT let it sit on the wheels at all if you get them wet (for those that daily their mustang) as they will etch the coating, i have EBC redstuff for daily driving (good cold/hot bite and very mild dust and soft on rotors and the dust doesn't eat the finish on my wheels) for now and swap pads for aggressive stuff.

    My close friend just bought a 2013 mint condition Lexus ISF and I convinced him to put a better brake pad on he went with the same Hawk pads you did, his system is a brembo system as well he hated the squealing with the stock Pads he was tell me it looks like someone just slapped on pads and didn’t even grease anything. I told him he could probably resurface the rotors but he ended up getting brand new OEM brembo rotors and he was going to go with Akboinio pads I told him to watch your video and you convinced him and he’s happy as hell with these pads right now!

I could only get the fronts for my Equinox as it shares parts with Camaro so I'm having to put EBC yellowstuff in the rear. I know it's just a crossover SUV but she is BNR tuned. 😍

    How do these compare with Hawk Performance Ceramic? I'm satisfied with the Performance ceramic below 100mph, but over that speed, the bite & stopping distance just isn't there for me. I can't panic stop above 100mph. I need a more agressive pad, but I also don't want extreme brake dust.

    Do you think the hawk HPS 5.0 would hold up to 2 to 3 track days a year as a novice and 2 to 3 autocross events? Other than that the car is mostly daily driven.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 года назад

      the 5.0 do not have the temp range for track use plus the shelby is a heavy car with lots of grip i think you would kill the pads

    I have EBC blues on right now and I can fade them pretty easily on the street.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 лет назад +1

      the Supra calipers are not that great by todays standard so to maximize what you got do the XP8, i have installed them on cars that did not have monoblock calipers and they still worked amazing. i know 100% these pads will transform your car with so much more confidence, I drive that route often and i totally get the fade your experiencing which is why i always upgrade all our cars.

    • @DailyBeater
      @DailyBeater 5 лет назад

      @@autofanaticcars As far as caliper weight goes yea, they are pretty hefty Iron. I think I recall stopping distances of 60-0 of 109ft and 70-0 of 149ft back in 1993 with oem pads and tires. Brake and tire tech has come quite the distance since then :) I'll give the XP8's and Hawk 5.0's a try and see what's what. What would be interesting is a side by side braking comparison of the Supra and GT350.

    Ive used the HPS 5.0 pads on a 2013 mustang GT both on the street daily and for a full HPDE day at VIR (5 x 20min sessions) and they were excellent. I did not experience brake fade at all. Granted, I'm a huge novice on the track so I'm sure I wasn't pushing the car nearly as hard as it couldve been pushed. Plus VIR is a nice big track with lots of opportunities for the brakes to cool. But nonetheless I was really happy with the HPS 5.0 pads

      cool are you using these now on the GT350 yet? if not you should def give them a go i think youll really like the. VIR is my favorite track its been years since i was last on it with the Porsche Cup teams years ago. love the long straights and speeds you can get.

      @@autofanaticcars nope, just the OEM pads right now on the gt350, but I'm doing a track day in July so I'll be switching pads. Probably something more track oriented than the HPS 5.0, but I might pick up the HPS 5.0 eventually for street duty... VIR is a blast! Cannot wait to get the shelby out on that track.

    Auto Fanatic is the kind of guy that says I wish all cars had GT350 brakes.
    On a more productive note, consider getting your wheels ceramic coated and most of the dust won’t stick and what does will come right off with a garden hose.

    I have a 2015 Mustang GT 5.0 Performance Pack, and I am caught between getting these bad boys or the ceramics. They are so similar in price but if I'm not mistaken, the ceramics should have much less brake dust.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 лет назад +4

      do not put the ceramics for less dust they do not stop good in the cold and have horrible bite, these are the pads you should be looking at for the street and for spirited driving

      @natedagreat850 5 лет назад +1

      Auto Fanatic noted. Thank you so much for the quick really. Really appreciate it. Thank you for the content as well. While I have you, the reason I’ve been looking at new pads has been because of squealing coming from pretty much all 4 corners at random times. There is more than 50% life on each pad and there is no apparent wear on the rotor and only happens on light braking. Any idea what I should look at?

    so how do these compare to the OEM brake fading? which can you say can handle more heat. I have OEM pads now and done some track days, they held up extremely well and very little fade so im worried these wont hold up the same

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 лет назад +1

      as i mentioned in the video if youp ound on them non stop without time for cooling they fade and you loose the pedal but that is due to their heat range of 750F, the OEM pads are around the same temp range i believe so. If your going hardcore on the track the Carbotech XP10 fronts and XP8 rear is what i would suggest. On the street this to me is the better all around pad i feel.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 лет назад +2

      whenever you see a fixed bridge caliper like this it was done by design to increase stiffness and reduce deflection because the stiffer the caliper assembly the less deflection you get under intense braking and better pedal feel. You would be so shocked if you saw some aftermarket big brake kits i have installed to see the calipers flex visually while the car is up on a lift. it is a pain to remove pads for sure but i feel it is worth it.

    • @altypeRR
      @altypeRR 5 лет назад

    • @autofanaticcars

      comparing these front calipers to the ones on an AMG, GM vehicle etc these are far stiffer and better. Ford def did this for a reason not to take an off the shelf caliper for the Gt350 i hear the new GT500 has even larger caliper pistons and rotors i can only imagine how insane that it.
