  • Let's take a look at one of my favourite Hardscaping tools, the Stihl TSA 230 battery powered cutoff saw. This versatile medium size tool is great with it's diamond blade for detail work, including cutting around downspouts, curvatures for flagstone and pavers, and much more!

Just bought this saw, I think it's going to change my life. Thanks for helping me avoid buyer's remorse!

How have you found it so far??

I’m really happy with it so far. Like you mention, it’s a nice in-between size, is super convenient, and has a blade small enough to enable some gentle curves. There are some other brands offering similar saws now, but I can’t speak to them- I imagine they are of similar quality.

We looked at this saw but it appears to max out at a depth of 70mm. That’s perfect for 60mm pavers, but 60 mm pavers are becoming rare in my area, most are now 80mm. High five on that circle cut!

Thanks for the recommendation! Can you share what rating of diamond blade you use for flagstone?

I just get the only option they have for the Stihl diamond blades.

Hey yeah I use it all the time! The batteries have been solid, holding a good charge etc. The only issues I’ve had are the belt had to be replaced twice, and the handle mount broke off so I had to rig it up. I’ve used it A LOT and have been really impressed.

How long does the battery take to charge? Does it have connections for wet cutting?

It takes about 20 mins or so. I have two standard batteries and a higher capacity one and typically only need one in the saw and one charging on days where I’m cutting a lot. Yup sure does have a water attachment quick connect just like the gas versions.

Not quite cleanly through, but thorough enough to easily break it!
