I’m 58 now and about 15 years ago my family and friends and I stopped exchanging gifts. It’s wonderful because, as you mentioned, now we can just enjoy being together without the commercial aspect. I am someone who buys what I want, I’m hard to shop for, and at this point in my life I want to own less-I’m definitely a “fewer things of the highest possible quality” person, so I love not exchanging gifts. I do love to cook for others, and do a lot of holiday entertaining. For me, holiday gifts are really for kids, and those I want to thank, like my postman, hairdresser, etc.

I was wondering why you put the tree in an empty room where you don't have furniture to sit and enjoy it? Wouldn't it make more sense to have it in the snug where you can sit and also see it while cooking? The reflection of lights from the patio doors would look nice in the evenings too and to have its lights on in the morning while having your coffee is relaxing. The table runner could go on a shelf long ways hanging over a bit and some Christmas items displayed on top. If it's too long hanging over, fold it under in the back. 🎄☕🎀
It shouldn’t be long until I get some furniture in there haha!

Took a trip from NYC to London the last week of November and we stayed in Vauxhall so Battersea was so close. We loved everything and of course had a Grind and went to M&S to bring back delicious Christmas treats.

Toaster Suggestion! Granted, it’s very niche, but as I know you love sourdough bread (which is very long) and baking … I suggest you swap your two slice toaster for a fourth slice because the length of your bread will fit in the toaster better!!

I’m also in team no sleep but I have a baby so it’s not my choice 😂 I would highly recommend pink noise to try! I can’t go to sleep in silence anymore as it’s too “loud” and my brain won’t switch off, white noise I find is too harsh but pink noise is lovely to help switch off and sleep 😊

For years i had a brain that never stops not always bad as solutions to problems that arose during the day come then without looking for it but i gets tiring over the years and ive found breathing exercises that allows you to empty the brain and have restful and restorating sleep.
I don’t struggle with my sleep at all.. I can fall asleep most of time straight away and sleep all the way through but my husband does shift work so he get insomnia which then affects my sleep🤦🏼♀️ it is a form of torture not being able to sleep so I really do sympathise with the insomnia club members! ❤ also watching this after being kept awake all night by a tossing and turning husband 😅

I only get around 4 hours sleep a night and I have two kids. It’s hard but we still get the things we need to get done DONE! We are strong women lol ❤xx

Read a book in bed at night, it really helps to knock you out. You need to put all your appliances in one of those full height cupboards for easy access
I can EASILY fall asleep now....I have an 8 month old baby, and I'm a SAHM. I'm EXHAUSTED come 7pm. 😅

I find it easy to sleep when my partner is in the bed but when he's not there I can't at all. It's the worst feeling tossing and turning trying to sleep so I feel for you 😢❤

It’s a fact that men in general sleep better than women. There’s several theories but I think it’s a part of our nature to plan, analyze, & solve problems. It’s been pinnacle to our survival💖
