Konrad Imirowicz was a kind-hearted man.
When I was younger, he had mentored me in Scouts, helping me rank up and advance.
This woman (My Father and I had lived with her before) had convinced my 10 Year Old brain that he was a mean man. But, over time, I realized that what I was made to believe was all lies. He was a great man, and a great cook (Showed me how to make French-Toast S’mores one day)
I won’t forget this man, n’or the impact he had made on my life.
A Friend, a Father, and my Mentor

Even if he had custody of the 2 older kids and even if the kids chose to live there willingly so as to have more freedom due to him always being drunk, that still does not negate her responsibility to call CPS if the living conditions were as she describes. Her job is to protect her kids and by her leaving them to live in a feces riddled moldy home with a drunk is repulsive. This woman likely has narcissistic personality disorder. Her emotions while testifying are inappropriate to the situation, and she seeks to blame her ex-husband for his terrible fate. The brother testified that his sister called him while he was at the hospital to tell him to get the PIN for their father's credit card. He said she showed no concern that their father was seriously injured and in the hospital. It seems that the mother has conditioned the daughter to be self centered and manipulative and vindictive. The daughter retaliated against her father because he did not meet her demands. It is easy to imagine the mother encouraging her daughter to be flippant and vindictive.

I kept an eye on everything, whether it was cleanliness of the house, what they ate and their school grades. When they were teens, they chose to live with me. This woman angers me with her acting so detached with what happened. She seems to find humor in what ended up in the death of her ex and the entire situation. She’s almost as much to fault as her daughter is. There’s no way, a loving and responsible mother would let her children live in such filth and with an alcoholic dad. And yeah she probably didn't mean to kill him. She was pissed and thought he'd wake up when it started to burn but he didn't. Probably a dumbass who didn't think about how quickly those chemicals can damage someone. She intended to harm him and as a result he died. That's all they need to prosecute

Many of us are "blaming" Mom for not getting the 2 older kids due to their Dad's living conditions. IMO, if the 2 oldest WANTED to be with their Dad due to WHATEVER...had Mom insisted they return to her...those kids would have made everyones life a living HELL!! If the filth wasn't acceptable to the kids...they'd have begged Mom to come get them!!

Austin may think his father's drinking was normal for how Austin lived it. Like others who experience how their family lives, they believe this is normal, whether it's abuse of family members or abuse of alcohol etc...

I agree, and Austin seemed overly sensitive to talk of alcohol use by father.
