  • Whilst putting the stub axle, bearings and hub back on the vehicle, I measure up some genuine and Bearmach spacers

    Genuine spacers should have a letter etched on to them which denotes their size. I reverted to the old method of nut, lock washer and lock nut. Just set the preload each time, no need for an arsenal of spacers.

    So, that brings up the question: pre TD5 preload vs TD5-to-Puma end-float system. And if preload, what torque for the first nut?

    Perhaps put the cut out at the bottom so it doesn't retain water

    You can see why folk do away with the spacers like pre TD5 and just tighten nut by hand to remove any excess end float without adding pre-load.
