Players: *complains about player dialogue choices not affecting gameplay*
Hoyo: Oh okay. Which ones do you want dead?
*insert players who likes skipping dialogues*
Hoyo in future story quest: Want more?
I think it's the same players who expect their decisions to actually spawn a different route in the story from a Gacha game (which is completely delusional, even HSR, the game that prides itself on your decisions mattering, doesn't do that. They're not going to create an entire branched storyline just because of one decision)
To the extent where decisions can affect the world, I'm glad they did something like this. It makes each person's playthrough feel more distinct and personal
This doesn't affect the gameplay whatsoever. Some otherwise inconsequential NPCs disappear.
I bet you didn't even notice which ones were gone post quest, it's so unimportant
So, at the end, none us canonically dead, since players can choose their options, and in some worlds they are alive, maybe kill a playable character would be more impactful, someone we have known for a log time, that way hurts the most :))
This war in Natlan makes the civil war in inazuma look like a play date
REAL THO
real😭😭😭
It made the inazuma war look like a slap fight between Sara and Kokomi
Which makes the hatred towards Ei seem all the more unfair, because her choices didn't really lead to any grave consequences at all??
Meanwhile Mavuika is honestly a really irresponsible leader, whose entire nation would have perished if not for the Traveler. People did tests and if Traveler doesn't help at all during the war, the death toll can increase to 90k, and the average player will have a death toll in the thousands.
This is all Mavuika's fault for valuing culture over actual lives. I agree with the Captain.
It's only because Traveler purified Chasca's sister that she was able to awaken as a hero in the first place. Mavuika had ZERO plan to ensure her people's safety when the Abyss would eventually attack because Ororon awakened. She would have failed miserably, and was lucky Traveler was there to save the day. (Compare that to Folcalors, whose plan was successful regardless of Traveler's interference).
Ei might have ordered a strict rule, but she didn't cause a death toll of her own people in the thousands.
@@darklordsatan4383 She still approved the vision hunt decree, and we dont how many people died in the civil war
"This isn't an incident Paimon, This is war."
-Traveler, Cooking up with their lines as the protagonist in the Natlan quest.
"this isn't a disaster paimon.. this is a war.." ?
you know, the quest hit me hard, especially this line
im from Ukraine, and i remember thinking something very similar to the Traveler's line two years ago when my mom woke me up and told me that we'd been attacked (i smh slept through the explosions)
even the game makes you remember the hard reality you're living in(
And this why war... War never changes...
There's no mercy in war. It's a collision of powers.
I really like that there is no optimal path where you save them all. You can't be everywhere all at once, you're just one person. It really makes you feel powerless in the face of an actual all-out war, it's great
It makes me want to make a Natlan TED talk.
"Why everyone needs to become a strong warrior, even the children and baby saurians"
Ivan Drago: if they die, they die
Now I’m too scared to take the quests! 😭 I just wanna save them all! 😭😭😭
Only the strongest person gonna survive
true, this really make me think, is this what happen with my great grandparents during the WW ? TT_TT man....in my case , my option only saved less people TT_TT , im sorry people of natlan TT_TT
Player : "we want our choise is matter in this game"
Hoyoverse : "okay, now choose... if you save the NPC in route A, the NPC in route B will be die, and vice versa"
Player : "N-No, not like this!!!..."
i feel so bad man 😭
"WHAT WE MEANT IS MC'S DIALOGUE TO NOT BE SAME OPTION THAT DOESN'T MATTER WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE!! NOT A GODDAMN ANOTHER 50/50!!"
I like it, because, this is how war is
@@StraightAssLightning its not 50/50 its either he dies or they die situation oof
@@Skilled_slayer007 it's 50/50 in life scale. You won't 100 percently choose one over the other, right?
imagine how suffering dain, pierro and captain who cant save their people, its really hurt to see this war result
Sad
And he was absolutely right when he said how many hundreds or thousands will have to die. Because more than thousands did die, and this was after Mavuika did not fail. Capitano's world isn't based on fate or destiny, he knows disaster and he knows what failure looks like. Natlan was lucky to have the traveller to divert its fate, else natlan would've lost to the abyss like Capitano said.
Dain and Cap yea, Piero doesn't seems much affected to me, he still struck me as a villain who doesn't care much about people, like if he already was bad even before the events of the cataclysm.
Look up "Light in the abyss". A fanmade video shows what it really meant to be a citizen in the godless nation
@@blackister4768 My guy, Pierro is literally the one who insisted that dabbling with the Abyss is a bad idea but King Irmin rejected his pleas and look what happened.
I saved the mother and daughter in this quest and I was deeply saddened by those Fatui who sacrificed to save them.😭
Really wish I can tell Capitano at the end about their heroic sacrifices and honour them.
Same, never thought id be sad to see fatui die
@@weeblordgaming6062 That's because then, they were not Fatui but your brothers in arms.

What ? how ? I mean I had the conversation where he asks to check on his mother and I thought I will encounter her as the story progresses and I never met her. It is only because of this video that I am knowing that there were options and were able to go on side quest. I feel bad now. Can you tell how did you do that ? I was seeing no other options. Whenever I clicked on other locations it said something but I was not able to teleport there so I went wherever I could teleport. Man I want to redo this quest now but I can't.
@@SurajThakare0
Hi, thanks for your reply. The mother and daughter I talked about were from here(1:41,choose north)
However as I see in your reply you seemed to be talking about Tepoz’s mom. In order to save her, you have to choose South(from 0:54),then do the optional objective.
5.0: this is just baby game👶
5.1: 💀, wth why outside fake sky Teyvat is destroyed
Just watch Wei . U will get the answer

U at least went to piss, I went to lunch with the game open 💀
the minimum number of victims is 1500 for the entire quest
Don't be, it's just some random npcs lol
@@cottoncandyUwU420 bro how many was your toll 😂
@@lunix3259 I haven't checked . Story was really immersive.... But my focus was touching every region as much as I could, talk to everyone, aid them and leave the rest to the remaining fighters.
Only thing I should not have done is to leave the fatui escort supplies.
I thought they are much more capable than other natlan fighters but in the end I found them all dedge...
I should have aided them a bit more.
For the rest , I avoided casualties as much as I could.
Even if u save the mother and daughter if ur fast enough u can still save achiyaku (the guard in the village) i have seen this in a streamer's stream named "Hey Raion" then in "doro44"'s stream i saw that during the first wave when u save tepoz if ur fast enough u can still save the messenger.
SO GUYS CAN SOMEONE PLS VERIFY THESE CLAIMS AND MAKE A FULL VIDEO on how to have the lowest amount of casualties while saving a good number of npcs
damn even the time also matter ?????
You can save the mother and daughter and Achiyaku together. Iyoba and her child are the choices u gotta make between them + Fatui or the people of springs (Haronga's group with the saurians), while Achiyaku is the choices you make between his group near the Canopy or courier Raman.
So if you chose to save Achiyaku's group at first, then chose to help the Fatui and save Iyoba and her daughter, it's plausible that they all going to survive. The ones that won't be saved are Raman and Haronga's group with their saurians (the one with the yumkasaurus whelp left).
Unfortunately no matter how fast you are, some loss are inevitable. That's just the nature and horror of war of the story...
As someone who plans to play Genshin, I would appreciate it if you have this compilation as I want the lowest casualty numbers
So.... You need and actual strong and fast team to save more NPCS....
The theater was just a drill (?
dont start this quest and everyone will stay alive
I don't know why but probably this war was the turning point of the story. It was also the reason why outcome differs in each choices.... So far, the story has always been in a straight line but now the story is starting to diverge. The only reason I can think of is because Khaenriah is getting nearer and nearer in achieving their goals.
Additionally, it also tell that Traveler is only one and his choices affect the flow of the story. (Btw, I watched the Genshin Impact 4th Anniversary of CN so I got this kind of mindset about the "choices" here...)
I've noticed too that each nation, the story gets heavier. Even more so here in Natlan. I couldn't believe they dumped so much lore already and we're only in Act 4. The things we also found out in Enkanomiya has become relevant now after 2 years😂
We thought Fontaine was a big step in seriousness with the murder mysteries and impending natural disaster, and then Natlan's like "war is hell, and you are going to experience the trauma and helpessness personally." The inevitable war with Celestia is gonna be nuts... this whole chapter was probably just a beta test for that.
No the reason it diverges is because Hoyo is DESPERATELY trying to give it's game any relevance whatsoever storywise. They have been riding the easy train now and to be absolutely frank about it the story is bad no matter what. It's too convuluted and the whole pulling on the heartstrrings is just to traumatize the player so they'll keep playing. This game literally injects stockholm syndrome into it's players it's really bad.
@@001-x1b if u think genshin's story is bad then u just have no taste or u dont undestand any of its lore at all.
As an overly sympathetic and empathetic person who feels horrible for CARTOON CHARACTERS for slipping and stuff, I may never finish this quest..
Have hugs from a fellow Traveler... I usually have similar feelings to you where cartoon characters and NPCs are concerned. Sometimes I end up treating them as actual living friends before I can recall their nonexistence.
Unfortunately, it is the nature of war that people suffer and die, and Hoyo decided to have their war actually reflect that reality. I will always respect them for making clear the cost of conflict when most games will wave these things off in exchange for fun, but also, this does make the quest hurt to play through... it's ironic that a game like this portrays the horrors of war better than most games actually about war.
Just remember, they do still leave you with one advantage over the soldiers and victims of most conflicts - you are a true and capable hero with exceptional power who can usually save the people you come across. You are, for example, something like the Avengers fighting off an alien invasion, or the Autobots deciding to protect humanity, even at great personal cost. They can't save everyone either, and people die around them all the time, but less people will die because they were there. Same goes for you, the Traveler... no matter where and how you fight in Natlan's war, more people survive because of your intervention. This will probably be a very small comfort to you, and war isn't supposed to feel bearable, but you can save people. It is one of the burdens of a true hero, to keep trying to save people, despite the knowledge that you might not be able to save everyone, or that you weren't historically able to. The weight of the world is not yours to carry alone - but you can hold more weight than the average person can, and you use that capacity to help out those who can't carry as much.
They always say that the sky is darkest before sunrise, or that once things are bad enough, they can only get better. The war will end and the sun will rise, and more people will live to see the sunrise because you shared your light in their darkest hour. This will likely not be enough comfort, because war and death are horrible things, but I hope this helps you nevertheless!
And of course, you don't have to finish if you don't want to, because a game is a game first and foremost, and if you aren't having fun, there's no shame in picking up something else to play!
@@ananonymousnerd.2179 oh goodness I wasn’t expecting to get such a great reply. Your way of putting things actually makes me feel a bit better, thank you. I hope you have a pleasant life

Thank you for confirming that reinforcing the Fatui, unlike every other choice made, does not affect future battles. It only affects surviving NPCs at the Stadium/maybe the camp outside the Stadium at the end of Surging Darkness. I kind of wish the Fatui did show up elsewhere thanks to you reinforcing them.

Damn, this is the first time in game where our choices mattered. Every player's playthrough during that event is different, and no matter what, you can't save everyone. It really weighed in the fact that that whole part of the story was a war, with people actually dying.
In natlan I was hoping some 4* and 5* characters would die considering how they were abusing the ode of resurrection. Especially mavuika choosing what people to resurrect and letting them rot in the night kingdom if they lost their life. Natlan is one of the most ironic places ever designed
"first time" that's the bummer part. It took them 5.1 patches to have actual use on "dialogue choices"
Hoyo : Remember what happened in Fontaine? With Focalors and the people in Poisson?
Players : Yes we do
Hoyo : Wanna watch me do it again ? But this time your choice will matter.
Players : huh?
Genshin be slapping people in their face with the "Not too fast honey" again....
This is the archon quest that you need to pay attention a lot when it comes to your decision making, plus you also need to be fast.
Truly a war
I had 2240 deaths, but i saved almost all of the video, not Raman cause i chosed the doctor.
My choices were: south, south, north.(Or down down up if you prefer)
1 one save the doctor, raman dies.
2 save potion lady (tell her not to risk it or she will die in springs) i guess more people died there because of my choice.
3 save mother and daughter hiding behind a chunky fatui corpse. In the other side saurians die.
Also do all side quests optional. Motivate ururuku in 2 ocasions. Tell him is okay to be afraid and the second time chose the first option again.
That was my run and imnsatisfied with that
About #2, I'm not entirely sure. If you read the battle reports it mentions that the warriors are evacuating towards the stadium, and don't need any support.
I'm mad because I hated the Abyss so much I just charged head on into every combat encounter without even stopping to help the NPC's. I didn't even know our choices mattered and now I feel like an idiot
I don’t even know I’m looking for his mom even matter in the end I realized I didn’t save her and it was my fault for not going to her location. This quest makes you feel like a real piece of shit sometimes.
1:24
If you interact with her, she gets help from the Fatui to go the People of the Springs. Iirc, when the Abyss Tumor fell on the route to the People of the Springs, you can see her body there next to a broken carriage
I honestly wish i could've saved the doctor but i figured supplies would be essential and she might have been escorted. That's the only decision i regret. Saved the mother and daughter, supported the fatui but asked them to escort the survivors to the tribe and found the lone baby saurian..
now imagine this a full scale attack of abyss on every nation sound like fun time
Cataclysm be like:
The Abyss is still okay, they attack wildly without a strategy. Imagine a full power attack from the Abyss Order ☠️ a fully strategic invasion led by people like Skirk and the Traveler's Sibling and shit, the nations probably stand no chance. Except for Fontaine, since Focalors defied the Heveanly Principles they'll probably be spared or smth
@@plum6999unless the Heavenly Principles started moving and they nuked Fontaine first for their defiance, or getting mistaken for working with Abyss coz spared
now imagine you have to choose who to save between playable characters, pretty scary :')
Now imagine this 100x worse... Yup! That's Khanreah!
What a good day to lower my world level to clear the quest faster
If I knew any better I wouldn’t have rushed it and taken my time with this
Not rushing means more casualties overall. Wait for too long and the number of deaths spikes.
On the brightside, you had the more immersive experience of a soldier/general needing to make quick decisions with limited information during the chaos and fog of war.
My only regret is that I can't save that one warrior's mother. 😢
1st wave (pleased): chose south, north was just a messenger detachment, and intel said were rescued; south meanwhile had an entire village with civilians, even had NPC sidequest linked to save mum doctor; furthermore, on 1st return hotspot helped a lot more civilians escape to stadium
2nd wave (regret heavily): saved north cause heard abyss pylons were involved and could threaten Children of Echoes, while south were escorted by Fatui and thought they could handle it; turns out south got completely wiped out and north would've still had survivors, plus the south had important supplies; kicking myself for this choice to this day
3rd wave (satisfied): chose south because they had saurians and human squad while north had Fatui for vanguard; saved a valuable saurian medic and more people with this decision, so was a rational trade-off...
While I'd prefer not to have certain spoilers as I have now, I'm glad I found this before doing the section of the quest. I need to make sure my computer has the ram available to save everyone as fast as possible.
Where i’m from, we don’t say ”I’m crossing my fingers”. Instead we say ”I’m holding my thumbs”.

I'm proud of my choices, I didn't save the most but in each area I got at least 1 survivor which makes me cope thinking I was helpful to someone instead of finding an area where everyone died
First wave i choose south (saving tepoz mother the doctor)
Second wave i choose south (the group in near children of echoes left only with 4 people)
Third Wave i choose south again saving the group and saurian but lost the mother and child

That would not make it better, it would make it more annoying. Nobody enjoys those missions.
Didn't play during version 1, but seeing the RUclips videos and asking OG players about that pizza delivery event, i gonna agree that it seemed annoying as hell.
as a player since 1.0 maybe all I can say is the recent event is better a bit than before, we used to clear the event using resins, and that food delivery event surely traumatic, especially when the weather suddenly poured, and you're just a meter away from the target XD
3:38 i lost his mother, even thought we promise to "save" her, if meet her.
and it hit me hard. 😥
I didn't save anyone since I didn't know it was that important
This is a very... weird way of customizing each Teyvat...
I felt bad about a lot of it even when I already researched long and hard enough before playing (didn't wanna get stressed by the emotional damage).
And STILL there were moments I felt overwhelmed. Everytime my Arlecchino accidentally set the grass on fire I was crazily switching to Neuvi to put it out and not kill people. Or when those pylons took ages to break. And then for Toto when I couldn't immediately see the NPC there and I felt upset for a moment that I was too slow (It was fine. I was just blind and didn't see the NPC).
For all the horror.... it was a frickin awesome one. I ended up with 1991 deaths which I know is higher than the best possible..... sigh, to move on I guess. It was amazing anyways and I don't regret staying till 2 am to finish it😂
Edit : Reading the comments 1991 is not as bad as I thought?! A little relief I suppose even though I made some wrong choices

The feeling of urgency got to me and I just frantically clicked on random spots and didn't pay attention to which NPCs were there because I though I could go to the other spot next. Well, that sucks.
The fans wanted Natlan to have real war, well there ya go, that's the war, makes it hurt more that it's a beautiful land with cute animals
It's as if it was rushing for me and I couldn't even get to do certain missions like you

When your choice actually matters..
The best explanation I found so far for this quest 👍
I didn't know my choices could affect that much but I was really anxious and banging my keyboard because I felt like if i took too much time fighting, the figures could go up. I forgot the total casualities afterthe war but damn, I hoped everyone would be revived when mavuika did that. The story don't need to be that immersive. I just want chuychu and others back.
- The players who told tepoz they will save his mother IF they encounter her, so it's not their fault IF they didn't encounter her aka didn't chose that particular node because you chose to save the courier Raman instead. But I do saw a youtuber going to the correct node but just rushed off without checking for optional tasks thus missed the chance to save his mother.
- About the mother and kid in the north... the choice description didn't mentioned the mother and kid, so players sure won't know they can save them by going north first.
That end transition got me rolling! LMAO

Mine was around 2k
I regretted so much not being able to save the warriors and their saurians but at the same time, I don't regret paying tribute to the fallen fatui and helping out the mother and her child.... Honestly, I went there bc I remembered they said that the people from the flower-feathered clan or smth like that were evacuating so I thought there would be more civilians ... What's done is done anyway. It was really an immersive quest, it actually made me feel so anxious and paying attention to the details as well as defining priorities bc I obviously couldn't save everyone and in my mind it was civilians first then as many people as possible.
I'll be honest, when I first started the serious part, i wasn't feeling anything particular, but seeing the death count really stressed me out, especially when I finally got an update from the fallen messenger. Dude, my heart legit missed a beat, I was mortified. These kind of quests are great tbh, and I absolutely loved the experience...I mean, let's not do that too often ....
I didn't pay attention to those side quests, now I regret it and the whole place seems less crowded and sad.
I was really tearing up when I was playing the quest. It really reminded me of Infinity War and End Game 😭
Well I saved All of them just for extra content 4:12
How did you do it? I’m a bit stressed out about this Archon Quest and want to save as many as possible
@@xoticboi 🤣 I was curious about what would happen if I interact with all of the MPCs And I kind of broke the game 🎮🎯 I went in front of the Dr mpc and then the dialogue started I was also roaming around the area where the purple color Fox was just walking right and left the green color animals were looking at me even though they are lying in one spot however the MPCs were not moving. Sad story 😞 but I was surprised to see so many MPCs at the ending of the story quest 🌟🌟🌟
@@xoticboiyou can't, that's war for you
You can't bro. Check the altar, you'll know he who died
Wow I never thought that the choices we make in the game will have effects afterwards.😣 Seeing the number of casualty gives me goosebump all of a sudden.😳 Thanks for sharing this.
What's the best route to minimise the casualties?
Haven't found a guide yet.
i think its to prioritize the medics.
Previous video on this channel shows prioritising the medics results in higher casualties.
in fact, medic only increase the number of victims... they cannot fight and heal the abyss, they have no use. so the death statistics are only growing stronger
More survivor more minimise the casualties, at least 😢
None, embrace them.
I was wondering about the “motivating the NPC!” choice
Playing this quest too much for me. I felt like the people who die was my fault for not being there sooner and in genshin this quest heart the most
Now make another video called “can you kill them all?” That’ll teach these NPCs to give me pointless quests ever again
I think it’s gonna happen again because it’s similiar to memories in Sumeru and Fontaine’s court battle mechanic
I'm glad I haven't played the chapter 5 part 4 throughly yet. Since after knowing that it's gonna be one long archon quest
No matter what I'll always be satisfied that I save Tepoz mother... Since she is a doctor she could save a lot more behind the scene
A wise man once said: "remember that you can't save everyone. We save who we can, that's enough."
I didn't even take serious about this quests, i miss a lot 😅
The only thing I regret is actually I rushed to get out the first area as soon as I could so I didn't get to talk to Uturunku to motivate him. I only figured it later when I was checking some websites for alternate dialogue.
I managed to talk with all the other NPCs in other locations afterwards, hoping I didn't miss a single of them.
I used to hope that there is another way to save Chuychu but if seems like it was scripted
Is it true that you can get softlocked from certain achievements and side quests depending on your choices? Because some people were saying that. But that wouldn't make sense. Hoyo can't just do that. It almost feels like it would go against the rules that China set for games recently or whatever. Idk.
Yeah they won't make you miss contents completely. In Honkai Star Rail there are a lot of cases where if you choose option 1 you got an achievement, if you choose option 2 the story will end up very differently but you still got another version of that achievement.
There is one point in the HSR story if you proceed to a main quest first you will forever lost a NPC's side quest, but there will pop a big warning screen if you try that, reminding you the 60 gacha stones you could've gained from it. And this is a very special case because that side quest was originally a main quest, only after people complained about it breaking the flow of the story then Hoyo updated to be a side quest, it's not the original design.
@@UltramanII Okay. Good to know.
There is a very small chance that something less significant like a special npc dialogue which would give you an artifact/food dish maybe lost. But as you have said, because china laws on monetisation of games, anything that may give premium currency must be accessible for all players (except natlan local legend achievements for those who had skill issue like me lmao).
And we all seen with the recent short nevuillete nerf how CN players are quite rapid in reporting and suing hoyo if they break the rules so im sure the devs wouldn't dare to something like this.
The only thing you can miss are chests. In some quests there's a temporary domain and most of the time you can loot between 3-5 chests.
Achievements are 100% obtainable, i have everything myself, few can't be obtained right now because its linked to the statue of Natlan and few other things that are time gated since Natlan like each time when a new reagion is released.
Other than that, events might have few items that you can miss like a weapon, a free 4* character or whatever they give you.
I need a summary, so which choice can save the most people???
I'm glad to say that I saved Mayahuel. In the 2nd route, you have to choose the Scions of Canopy to be rescued first. And after you destroyed the abysal pylon in that area, you can actually talk to Dr. Mayahuel.
i kinda panicked and just picked at random what i thought would need my help more
wait you could save npcs?
the choise is yours, basically... when you save NPC in route A, NPC in route B is die
Bro playing as the abyss silibing
@@kaizeremperaiga1807 so no matter what route you take. The other path is gonna be dead. That sucks.
What if I actually want to not save anyone and let them all die?
My friend told me go for which had more hope or more fighters.
Darn. I didn't noticed it. So I lost alot of natlan people. I can only remember picking any location because I wasn't prepared for the long battle quest. I didn't expect tjat there's such thing like this so I keep going on archon quest event I'm sleepy (planning to stop once the cutscene ends and move to another cut scene but bru, It's too late when I noticed that I'm inside a temporary map(which making me feel like if I leave, the progress will not be saved and I have to start all over again!). I end up playing with the goal finish this asap so I could sleep. Playing straight forward😂😭 until 5am without looking on other details.
It actually does save tho
I went into this quest blind. I based my decisions on whether the area was a crucial, if the people there had less chance of survival without help, and which had a higher number of possible casualties. Needless to say, I was still heartbroken. I listed my choices and reasoning for those choices below.
Basically my choices were:
1. Under Siege (Had a higher number of possible casualties and I was hoping the courier could hide somewhere...)
2. Key Supply Rescue (Supply routes are very important during war. I was hoping the other site could hold off a bit longer since they had a defendable position...)
3. Survivor Search and Rescue North (These were defenseless civilians, I concluded they would have less chance of survival. I was hoping the Saurians would be able to help defend the people..)
Also, being a lore enthusiast, I was able to talk with everyone and pick the correct responses.
Still, I was not happy about the lives I wasn't able to save....
Yeah. Natlan Archon Quest made me realize it's all was losing games 😢😢😢
