For me, it’s the upside-down statue of the Anemo Archon, in Dainsleif’s quest. There’s an ACTUAL corpse just sitting there too, and it almost looks like he’s worshipping something before his life was taken on the spot. It really gave me the chills.
What's worse, it's almost a direct parallel to the Caribert quest with the hilichurls worshiping that dark crystal. It had the same purple glow and everything 😨

I thought the domain in Zhongli's Chapter 2 quest was pretty creepy. The story about Havria (the God of Salt) and how she died. It's creepy seeing exactly where she died and the remains of people who tried to escape the domain after she dissipated into salt; including her murderer's body. I've never been so unsettled looking at the remains of bodies completely covered in salt.
@@lynettekamadjaja5671 you're probably more correct than I am LOL It's been awhile 😂👏🏻 It was like Zhongli's story quest or something. I don't remember if it was like an "Act 1 or 2" or "Chapter 1 or 2" lmao I'm old ☠️ Bottom line is: the God of Salt, Havria quest and domain was sad and creepy LOL
@@rayoko_tubeAh!,I didn't expect u to reply to my comment actually,I remember it cuz 1. Around this time I recently finished Zhongli's story quest(and totally didn't question his hp🙂) and 2.there are a lot of things I remember Abt this game for no reason like the ar rank required for mondstadt and Liyue, and other things that it's probably best to not mention
Something about the Melusine village just creeps me out. At first everything is cute, but as you go deeper, the place suddenly turns into a sci fi horror game. The embryo looking mechanisms, the portal, the enemies. Add to the fact that Hoyo decided to put the freakiest place in Teyvat in the same location, @1:06 the book of revealing. All of that stuff and yet the background music is so beautiful which makes it more unsettling.
People always count this among most beautiful places, but i always find the eternal oasis unsettling. It looks full of life but there is not even a speck of life there. Plus the beautiful vocals as background music makes this place seem like a sad, creepy and but beautifully nihilistic dream. I felt uncomfortable there because of thie overall vibes so i quickly speedran the whole place lol
It's a gorgeous place for sure, but it's definitely unsettling because of how empty it is but also because everything in that area is frozen in time. Sure it makes for a few funny memes, but really, the place is gorgeously unsettling. I also speedran the whole place and never went back
I mean, both are true for it. Absolutely stunning place but also... 1. a grave 2. a forever frozen moment of time 3. somewhere that exists and yet doesn't 4. if not for the backing music, would be silent and an echo chamber Those things by themselves make people uncomfortable, so combined would definitely be very unsettling. That doesn't take away it's beauty though - that's the whole reason it was designed, after all. It's a fragment of memory of those who loved and mourned the Goddess of Flowers.
I wouldn't describe it as "unsettling" personally; the words I'd choose would be Tragic and desolate. It's not a creepy area at all and it's a beautiful place, but the stillness and emptiness evokes feelings of sadness for the tragedies of the past, the loss of the goddess of flowers, and the pain of the people who we journeyed with to get there only to find nothing but an empty domain that is inevitably going to collapse and be forgotten by time.
@@aoisatoshi9300but wasnt that one place with only floating ruins and monsters part of a quest that goes unavailable once you’re done? maybe i forgot something and just didn’t go back or something, but otherwise i think venti’s statue being upside down feels very unsettling. so much upside imagery in this game makes me feel sick.
I think you missed aranara old underground village and chasm's nail hole that we trapped with Xiao, Yelan, Itto, Yanfei, and Shinobu. I wish hoyo makes more quest with a lot of characters like in chasm quest.
YESS please more people need to acknowledge how creepy yet amazing the chasm archon quest was 😭 where we were trapped with the playable characters and worked together to escape instead of helping mundane npcs
@@ColumbinaNumber1Fan Desert-like sub-area between the rainforests, high decay concentration of the withering (a climate specific in Sumeru that is caused by the result of the forbidden knowledge), and the place where the main source of withering resides, not to mention we have to be trapped in a desert cave to get there.
- The Chasm as a whole should be on there. The dark mud that correupts but can also give you memories of the past, those Khaenrian soldiers who are atill alive, stuck in the past and have no humanity left, the darkness of it all, and the tragedy that is the celestial nail is the icing on the cake. - the door to Khaenri'ah is as fascinating as it is creepy. The achievement for finding it DID NOT help. - the desert paradise you find in Jeht's quest whose name i forget. Everything is eerily still, frozen in time. Its supposed to be peaceful and relaxing, but i found it to be desolate and unsettling. I half expected for the "illusion" to be shattered in the end but it didnt. Side note, the severed irmansul branch there was sad since the place is forgotten even by the ley lines. Honorable mentions: - upside-down Venti statue + the Caribert domain. Same parallel - Dragonspine's heart + lore - the remains of Carter you find in the Narcissencruez lab. Body horror freaks me out. So finding that amalgamation AFTER hearing the lore about it creeped me out. What creeped me out more and saddened me is the possibility that it's still alive. Just sitting there unmoving and unable to interact.
That last one you meant the lump of rotting flesh that looks like chasm mud right? I think that one is carter. Rene become an entity named narzissenkreuz and doesnt have a physical body anymore The creepy part abt carter's remains is that during the experimentation, rene and jakob can still hear carter's voice and they feel guilty and unsettled, so they decided to cut off the part of the flesh that is supposed to be the vocal cord so they dont hear him anymore :\ Imagine if hoyo ever decides to go full on graphic regarding the horror part of the game, i would love that but i think the twitter fandom would riot abt this and that lmao
Honorable mention to the hideout in Wriothesley's story quest as well - not many things can make me feel physically sick, but that one and the abandoned hospital very much did
For me, this place is the upside-down statue of Anemo in the first world quest of Dainsleif. Everyone was too preoccupied with the appearance of the other twin and no one mentioned the haunted and heavy atmosphere of this place. It made me cry for the first time in this “bright” and “positive” game. Lmao 😢 It may not be the most but always be the first
Same, that quest terrified me and to this day I find it the most scary quest in genshin, it changed how I viewed genshin as a game, I remember sitting in my chair shellshocked when the quest finished and I was standing on the sunny hills in liyue 💀
I would like to add the domain where we saw the Sinner...the whole atmosphere was just creepy with all those hypnotized hilichurls and...am I the only one who finds the Sinner kinda scary? (Actually, no...both the mc and the twin were unsettled... and that's saying something!)
@@doomsdayscara True! Can't believe that didn't make it onto the list. I mean, Merusea Village and Elynas are a bit strange but...we literally saw a dead man on his knees before THAT THING...No one can convince me that statue and the Sinner aren't linked...it was just too similar... Just...who the hell is he? What does he want? And...did he really free the Alberich out of "good heart"? Reeks of a "deal with the devil" to me...and we all know what happens with those: no matter how many generation pass, sooner or later someone WILL have to pay back...
the music is so good there too. very haunting. i went back there yesterday and accidentally climbed the door and immediately jumped back because i do not want to mess with that lmao
came here to say this, surprised that it's not on this list. i mean what's creepier than having to make crafting materials from the living heart of an ancient dragon
Recently went back to dragonspine after speedrunning it years ago. Took the time to look around now that I have better characters and know the full lore. I have completely forgotten that the heart beats loudly when you stand close to it. The frost bearing tree, that mitachurl that was once a human, the tragic lore, and eerie cold wind makes the entire place creepy and tragic at the same time
Old varanara is also a very unsettling place not gonna lie, however it's now less unsettling because there's no more withering zone, also the place where you fight the marana's avatar (before arama became a tree) was pretty unsettling too although it doesn't look unsettling at all after arama became a tree. Generally the withering zones are one of the most unsettling places in genshin.
omg so true, i actually quitted genshin after withering zones, because they creeped me out to the point that i’ve waited for every new location to be just as unsettling. and i had my friend to do marana quest for me since i had a whole panic attack bc of even a possibility of going in that dark purplish location
Me too holy shit i have a phobia of them I cleared all with my friends as fast as i could but i love exploring sumeru, im scared to see another one i missed I gave maranas quest to my friends too I HATE it SO MUCH
Seems like nobody mention Golden Apple Archipelago. Being stuck there forever with no way out, full of monsters and upside down buildings, strange illusions everywhere that will make you question yourself whether you're dreaming or still alive. Despite the place being bright and characters having fun there, if you're a normal people that aren't Venti's buddy you'll end up like those voyagers and Fatui. Absolutely NO.
The Cuijue Slope strikes me as the most mysterious. It literally has nothing but a slight bit of lore on the Nine Pillars of Peace and a really vague world quest where you place jade pearls to open a temple and take on a Ruin Hunter (iirc). There's no explanation as to why this place is the way that it is.
Someone actually mentioned Cuijue Slope! Glad I'm not the only one. The way the sky just changed into dark and gloomy as soon as u enter, that area will never not be unsettling
That fact that there is no explanation as to why the sky turns gloomy and the music changes in the Nine Pillars of Peace area makes me feel more unsettled and spooked towards this place compared to the other places shown in the video. Those places at least have lore backing up why they turn out the way they are now but this area… it’s much more mysterious and thus more unsettling
@@I_Am_InfinitiYup! The Lantern Rite where Madam Ping's backstory with Guizhong was told also showed Morax & the adepti sealing Guizhong's remains, in a way remarkably similar to how the "Nine Evils" were sealed. The perpetual cloudiness of Cuijue Slope could be the lingering backlash of Guizhong's death in the form of dust clouds. If we take the death of Havria (goddess of salt) as precedent, the "dust" formed by Guizhong's death could be all that's left of her killers (& human allies). These things are just "strongly implied" & aren't confirmed. Just like how it's "strongly implied" that the funeral Zhongli arranged for "Rex Lapis" was actually for Guizhong (the choice in incense, the emphasis on her clarity bell, the audacity of Zhongli organizing the funeral in the first place).
Technically 7 is Teyvat after the apocalypse, but for those who have done the quest, if you go in and search close to one of the buildings you will see a frosted glass wall. If you notice the other side shows the upside-down ruin inside the Chasm. Also the ghosts and Enaknomiya are on the top of the list. Plus an honorable mention could go in the door to khaenri'ah and the chasm underground hell where we are stuck with Xiao and co.
When I was doing that quests I thought they sent us to enkanomiya for a second because they were pretty similar. I guess It is because both places are ruined.
I agree with this list although for me I'd swap Tsurumi as no. 1. Just the thought of being trapped in a time loop in that island and learning the massacre that happened there straight up gives me shiver and not to mention Ruu's story on that world quest, just peak horror! I've played the game for exactly 2 yrs now and I haven't unlocked Enkanomiya. I should really get it started soon once I have more free time.
Agreed I love the concept of time loop games so much, it sucks we didn’t actually get to experience the time loop like anything resetting or anything but its so cool still Plus after that part of the quest where everyone at the ceremonial site disappears I was just running out of there I thought I was gonna get jumpscared or something 😅
i think the mushroom place in thd Chasm also deserves a mention, its soubdtrack is one of if not the most creepy in the game, also imagine getting lost there, and never being able to see the sunlight again, only those weird glowing mushrooms
the door that leads to Khaenriah below Sumeru was the scariest for me. the environment there just looked... dead? idk how to explain it, but just knowing what was behind the door gave me actual goosebumps
The ??? area is a world within the Book of Revealing created by the Narzissenkreuz Ordo to show other people what the world could look like after the world ended. Rene and Jakob knew that the flooding was being caused by the Narwhal, what they refer to as a “star-beast”, so the break in reality is a representation of the All-Devouring Narwhal.
What scares u most? Ghosts and monsters are one thing yes but the inhumane experiments of Dottore... man this is something that actually happened many times in real history as well... Humans are scarier than monsters
It also doesn't help that the records found there are...messed up to say the least. We can't get a clear picture of what happened to these people in terms of treatment, and the fact that they are regarded in such dehumanizing terms? UGH! Arlecchino has every right to want Dottore dead. He let THIS happen.
I never found Enka to be creepy On the other hand, the Narssizzenkreuz Ordo locations related to the Chymical Marriage Seal spook the sh*t out of me with that hell of a creepy Harry Potter-like music that doesnt stop even when in combat.
That one place where it has the chasm-like goo and the rocks from Dragonspine was always the creepiest to me And once I heard that the goo is a mound of human flesh, and I don't know if it's true, but if it is...
i’m actually surprised that no one had mentioned the Narssizzenkreuz Ordo quest locations. i did that quest in the middle of the night and im not gonna lie, the locations and the the quest itself really made me snatch my blanket and cover myself up until the end of the quest
Wuwang Hills has that quest with the ghost girl who drowned, she doesn't know that but the quest ends and you won't see her again, is very unsettling and I will never forget it. The fact that many people will skip Enkanomiya hurts my soul deeply Hangeh Afrasiyab is also very unsettling, is one of the deepest parts of Sumeru with a door to Khaenri'ah
@@auroliane9380 If I remember correctly, is part of the Inazuma quests, like a very advanced one after you finish the main quest, but if you finish the main quest you can also move to the next nation. I highly recommend checking it out, you will also get pretty rich with treasures there
If you go to the door to Khaenri'ah under Tunigi Hollow for the first time, you get the achievement "Abandon all Hope, Ye who Enter Here" And most of us know where that line comes from
There was a quest in chasm. that took you to this other relm where you 'time travel' between eras in a certain place. and you have to solve this puzzle. the creator of that puzzle meant for you to be stuck in an infinite loop. I almost went crazy
U must be talking Abt the perilous trail archon quest, and I also did almost lose my sanity there but then RUclips tutorials existed which is probably a good thing so I don't just abandon the quest
Does anyone know the cave near the eleazar hospital which gives you an achievement after you read the notes and touch the hoe tool (which is used in farming) That caves gives me the creeps, especially what is written on the wall and on the hoe when you press on it. Something happened in the dessert so bad and horrific that someone got trapped down there, and we get the most eerie achievement ever
It's Dar al-Shifa for me. I remember when i was doing the archon quest i decided to take my time and check out the place At first it wasn't that scary but the more i read those notes they became more and more creepy and then i found that drawer that had a key the creepiest note (i don't remember what was written but i'm sure cause it scared the hell out of me) I IMMEDIATELY teleported away and took a few seconds to come down Never gonna set foot in that place again. As for the guy that managed to run away, in the caves around the dendro hypostasis, you can find some notes that are written by him and if i remember correctly they say how he was starving and had nowhere to go and all. Overall, fuck that place
@@boop5716 oh sorry i mean number 10. It's called Dar al-Shifa on the map. The word "Dar al-Shifa" means hospital and hospital means Bimarestan in persian. Also They call the hospital in sumeru city "Bimarstan" too! ("Dar al-Shifa" also has a persian root but i'm not gonna explain that cause it's a long story lol)
yea bro the hospital is very scary and creepiest thing is that there are no people living near the hospital and its near the end of the map which creeps me out going to a abandoned hospital in night with no inhabitants near expect monsters and middle of nowhere is like a nightmare im very happy we went there with al haithaim the goat he is our saviour
anybody gonna mention higi village? knowing the story behind it makes it so messed up and gives me this sinking feeling whenever i’m there. sure, kairagi now inhabit it, but take them away and now you’re left with the state of the village at the end of its lore.
Also seeing hilichurls “dead” and buried is also a weird feeling. Usually see them dancing around fire in their camps so to see them lifeless half buried in the floor in pieces…doesn’t sit right
i honestly think that enkanomiya is very pretty appearance wise, not so pretty with the whole sun children thing 😭 but getting the namecard for it and exploring (especially in whitenight) was very relaxing and overall pretty chill in my opinion
okay so i was glitching around the underground of fontaine's map and i came across the "???" place. IT WAS SO UNSETTLING, i didnt do the quest and i actually freaked out
That upside down ruin in the Chasm is also very unpleasant. Also everything related to the Abyss is very unpleasant and gloomy, like one of the places that scared me the most in the early game was that ruin in which we found the upside down statue of the seven. Everything about that place seemed evil.
Yeah, it's the world formula these are how they imagined Teyvat would be if the doomsday happened it's just an imaginary place and not a real one (it's not a real place a t all it's just an illusion from the world formula papers)
@@uwu-sd4sfu can get to that place from talking to the ??? melusine that stood in front of the small waterfall in the Merusea Village. It will start a quest that will bring u to that place
Great places mentioned here, I even forgot about some of those places' existence... One more scary place (and also bloody awesome) is the one in Sumeru between forest parts and the Desert where you have to go very low down the map (you also fight monsters in the last part of the Aranara quest, but I forgot the name of that place), it's also blue-purple-ish there. First time I got there, it was terrifying + considering the story behind it...
I'm surprised Qingyun's peak / minlin isn't mentioned. That place has an unsettling sound that disturbs me, the one that comes from xiao calling his dead friends. It's sad but to me it's still creepy and gives me goosebumps. It made me want to not stay in that area for long
Shit, when i first found out Qingyun peak,it did creep me out a bit. But the longer it take, the more i sense the sadness and devastation inside it. Only to find out that was Xiao's about a year later in a video of a streamer mention it.
Honorable Mentions from me : the big gate below Sumeru desert (i forget the name, so cmiiw) I enjoyed the underground desert until i saw that gigantic gate, its huge, underground. My feeling from joy change to stunned but scared at same time. I know its smaller that inverted pyramids on surfaces, but being that huge door underground made me uncomfortable 😣😣😣
... No? Apep's domain is close to the border between 3.4 and 3.6 dessert territory, and Door to Khaenri'ah is way higher on the map. Not to mentioned, but Apep's domain is literally glowing hole with birds near it and not lifeless calm gigantic door with eight-pointed star and huge statues.
After going through the comment section, im pretty sure im the only one that remember the Salt civilization underground in Liyue where we see corpses turning into salt human statues.
Cuijoe Slope was a nightmare. That time when the game was just released. I only have Venti and Jean. It was a pain in the @ss to face the flying-all-the-time robot (nowaday the mechanic makes it easier to be fell down), and other monsters at the same time. It was very hard, can't focus on the flying robot because of around monsters, and ALSO can't focus on the around monsters, because of the flying robot fires lazer and rockets all the time, and you also have nowhere to run. In later versions there are more shield characters which help a lot, also increased Geo's strength a lot so Noelle's shield can tank well. p/s: I forgot to mention that now there a lot of characters have a lot of HP, like Zhongli, Yelan, Nilou, they won't be one shot down like my Venti or Babara.
@@horizon_angel Wait? That's was level 100! I don't remember that because I done that long time ago. It's totally chaotic that time because I was playing GI on a 3GB RAM smartphone that time and I did not build bow characters yet.
Not only do I constantly think about the last moments of Bosacius and Boyang, sealed up in the Chasm, but I also think of Zhiqiong. Like, that Visionless, frail girl set out to face the horrors of that semi-sentient place alone with no intention of coming back. I wonder if she’s still alive and/or sane
The only time I ever felt creeped out in Genshin is when I was in Enkanomiya and flying to a tiny floating island over the abyss. When I made it to the island the background music ended and there was just the noise of the wind and nothing else in my surroundings. It gave a desolate and eerie feeling. Besides that yeah the hospital is pretty bad. Otherwise Genshin has some messed up places but they weren't really scary, per say, just what happened in a lot of places is horrific. But...honestly these are all my favorite places in Genshin. I love when the environment is tragic and desolate, like the mysterious feeling of long-destroyed civilizations.
I would also add Serai Island, even after completing the Quest it still unnerving. And maybe the Desert Ruins too. Technically I'm just afraid of unground, dark places.
not sure if it's a fever dream or just a glitch/mod/fake video; in the 1.X versions, I remember watching a video on tiktok where there's this giant ruin guard eye peeping from under a gap between two big rocks in Liyue. did anybody see that too? it gave me chills tbh 😭
Do you remember that unknown space where the chasm archon quest took place? So let me remind you, THAT SPACE WAS ALIVE. It was trapping people and devouring them... and I'm not even mentioning all the strange things that were happening there, so probably it should be on the 1st place (if we're talking about all scary places)
2:36 i remember when i was a genshin newbie, and i walked into wuwang hill and everything turned dark, so i instantly sprinted away and teleported back to mond LMAO i was so terrified
The first time I went there I kinda thought it was inter cuz I haven’t seen an area like that, then I saw blue wisp and the ghost girl quest made never go there, even hu taos quest is just 😱
Honestly Genshin never really scared me. I was more fascinated than scared at every single place besides one. The eleazar hospital. It light just gave off the air of an abandoned science lab
The only thing about these places that scares me is that it's not about its environment, it was its mysterious origins that is unknown to us is what unsettles me. Why is the place called ??? in that one place in Fontaine? The origins of the Nameless Ruins that is a mystery to decode, the Enkanomiya despites its majestic feels, but the backstory of it sends chills, and I think there's a lot more to it than what the Before Sun and Moon book has revealed to us. And the mystery of the door underground in Sumeru, makes me wonder if the two nations had so much connection to one another?
For everyone asking where ??? ( #7) is it in a world quest. Called Book of Esoteric Revelations. To get to it have to help a Melusine on the open road who loves to paint. Help her and the rest of the quest will follow. To start the quest itself you have to go the Merusea Village in Fontaine. In the village one of the Melusine will have ??? Over her head. Talk to her.
It's a very small thing, but after finishing the full quest, I never went back to Higi Village on Yoshiori Island in Inazuma. To learn that the villagers slowly died or went mad is unsettling. Finding that register that first listed down the names of those who died, and then those Washizu sacrified, and then finally how the traveler was going to be the next victim, that terrified me.
A lot of Inazuma besides the city and sanganomiya makes me feel uneasy. The music sounds so lonely. The island has no people. It reminds me of like early minecraft days when a c418 track would play when you were deep in a cave and just felt alone.
For me no.1 scariest place in this game will always be Tsurumi Island before the ghosts departed. The blue wisps scared me so much I never went there if I'm playing at night irl 😂. Cuijue Slope is no. 2, it's beautiful but the sky changing and atmosphere turning darker everytime I get there never sit right with me.
I think the gate underneath Wriothesly’s office was freaky. It locked the entirety of the Primordial Sea behind it, and it was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.
9. and 8. remanants of the unified civilisation in chasm 7. remanants of the unified civilisation in fontaine 6. quite possible the stomach/ intestines of elynas 2, you can clear the fog upon completing thw quest, although the quest has a lot of dark implications (specially on how ruu was sacrifcied each time with having his tounge removed and him being stuffed in a golden chalice and his blood being drained) the area becomes sunny and happy after the quest, although you can still find the ghosts of the all the residents, if you complete their tasks you can send them to the after life
I believe Serai island, Yashiori (before the tataragami rainstorm gets cleared) the Chasm underground mines and Old Vanarana deserve inclusion. (Especially Yashiori which literally had a human sacrifice cult which tried to kill us)
Its tsurumi for me. The tribe there was trapped for over 2000 years. The only reason they knew sun even EXISTED to begin with was because of carvings on the walls. And they couldnt even leave island cuz they either cuz they had a slim chance of making it out alive. Ruu didnt know about electro bird dying(till the quest), he didnt know about the cataclysm and he didnt know about the celestia itself. All the little guy knew was thunder and was doomed reliving the same three days over and over.
This probably wouldn't count sense these places aren't permanent once you complete them, but any of the withering zones, especially when they're underground. It didn't helped by the fact that nearly every time I entered one the soundtrack "snare awaiting" played. It's also scary to hear how these withering zones came to be and how that even if we heal irminsul and get rid of them all...they will return eventually.
The elezar hospital got me scared during quest. It doesn’t have the creepy effect like the fog in Tsurumi but it’s still scary. Even we were with Alhatim it freaks me out the most. Not to mention the side quest to escape from that hospital with those creepy notes.
Tatarasuna, Enka, and Tsurumi Island are just sad af. I'm more scared inside that temple on Cuijue Slope, the things ancient people of Liyue must have seen.
I might be crazy but I love Enkonomiya that I don't find it scary but relaxing because of the nature abd those blue palets colors compared the one that were shown
Yeah, it's relaxing but at the same time it's extremely melancholic and desolate and you can feel the history of the people there through the music and the architecture and that's a big part of why it's still my favorite area in Genshin
8 is host to one of the most spectacular things in the game, the music is dynamic. The transition between battle and non-battle theme is absolutely seamless and the melody is maintained between them, it's fantastic. Enkanomiya is so good, it's very beautiful and the music is amazing, I wish they brought more events in this region
None of them did much for me, except for nameless ruin and the withering zones in Sumeru (especially the one at the end of the Aranara quest), but nothing compares to the Abyss when the traveller ends up in the chasm in the 2.8 event. The emptiness and seemingly endless space, with the feeling of loneliness, and no way of escape got me.
For me its all of the chasm. The way you explore more and more of it, digging deeper and seeing the upside down city, the fountain with the weird link to the '???' Place...
I know this video is 8 months old, but the Night Kingdom has my ABSOLUTE worst fear in video games: looming, vaguely humanoid silhouettes. They make me tear up. I'm talking about the malevolent spirits that lock onto your character. They look like the ghosts on Tsurumi island, but at least those ones mean no harm. The Night Kingdom spirits do so much percent damage on top of their creepy nature.

Is that a real location? I’m Day 1 and I think I’m up to date in the story. We never fought the doctor. I don’t know why we would be in a hospital
There was pani puri on the hospital menu and that was the only thing I remember.
Isn't that in chapter 1 quest?the chapter 2 quest is where we fight Azdaha

Something about the Melusine village just creeps me out. At first everything is cute, but as you go deeper, the place suddenly turns into a sci fi horror game. The embryo looking mechanisms, the portal, the enemies. Add to the fact that Hoyo decided to put the freakiest place in Teyvat in the same location, @1:06 the book of revealing. All of that stuff and yet the background music is so beautiful which makes it more unsettling.
if i remember correctly the melusine village is made inside Elynas' dead corpse

Yep @@iimintyii6547
Not to mention the heart and the Melusine who paints with its blood 😨
People always count this among most beautiful places, but i always find the eternal oasis unsettling. It looks full of life but there is not even a speck of life there. Plus the beautiful vocals as background music makes this place seem like a sad, creepy and but beautifully nihilistic dream. I felt uncomfortable there because of thie overall vibes so i quickly speedran the whole place lol
And then you learn that there are two whopping Dendroculi just in that place alone.
1. a grave 2. a forever frozen moment of time 3. somewhere that exists and yet doesn't 4. if not for the backing music, would be silent and an echo chamber
Those things by themselves make people uncomfortable, so combined would definitely be very unsettling.
Agreed. Everything frozen and the place being empty freaked me out. I did what I needed to do and noped out of there

Honorable mentions:
- upside-down Venti statue + the Caribert domain. Same parallel
- Dragonspine's heart + lore
- the remains of Carter you find in the Narcissencruez lab.
Rene become an entity named narzissenkreuz and doesnt have a physical body anymore
The creepy part abt carter's remains is that during the experimentation, rene and jakob can still hear carter's voice and they feel guilty and unsettled, so they decided to cut off the part of the flesh that is supposed to be the vocal cord so they dont hear him anymore :\
Imagine if hoyo ever decides to go full on graphic regarding the horror part of the game, i would love that but i think the twitter fandom would riot abt this and that lmao

YES! Especially when you read the notes on the ground. They were begging for food, for days!
For me, this place is the upside-down statue of Anemo in the first world quest of Dainsleif. Generally the withering zones are one of the most unsettling places in genshin.
When I did the world quest I was like "What the hell happened here?"

A theory I like is that Cuijue slope is where Guizhong died, which would explain the duststorm like clouds and the overall gloomy atmosphere.

We should appreciate how gd is the world design is.
I would also mention that unknown island in Monstadt where we defeat that eye of storm kinda thing. The place is really creepy and unsettling
I think the gate underneath Wriothesly’s office was freaky. It locked the entirety of the Primordial Sea behind it, and it was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.
9. and 8. remanants of the unified civilisation in chasm
7. remanants of the unified civilisation in fontaine
6. quite possible the stomach/ intestines of elynas
2, you can clear the fog upon completing thw quest, although the quest has a lot of dark implications (specially on how ruu was sacrifcied each time with having his tounge removed and him being stuffed in a golden chalice and his blood being drained) the area becomes sunny and happy after the quest, although you can still find the ghosts of the all the residents, if you complete their tasks you can send them to the after life
Gate of Khaenriah on Sumeru should be on the list
The abandoned Eleazar hospital reminds me of the abandoned psych hospitals irl. Creepy as hell.
The background music and screen glitching just make these more scary
I've never gone to the opera house, I've never gone behind that fountain! Looking at it creeps me out, now.
The people who know, KNOWS!
Edit: idk if they mean furina execution place or not
?
The inverted fountain is not in Fontaine, its a special domain during archon quest with Dainsleif
That sleeping priestess lullaby on elynas heart caught me offguard ngl😂😂
Never knew it was unsettling since the background music was so beautiful to the point that ghosts didn’t scare me nor the places where people had died
Fatal Frame music
Playing Horror game music doesn’t make the video more scary.
Ok, so it turns out i am one of the few people that realized that there was a mirror of the upside down fontaine location in the *??? * place.
WHERE
The video: 😨👻☠️
The outro music: 🕺🕺🕺
The elezar hospital got me scared during quest. It doesn’t have the creepy effect like the fog in Tsurumi but it’s still scary. Even we were with Alhatim it freaks me out the most. Not to mention the side quest to escape from that hospital with those creepy notes.
Tatarasuna, Enka, and Tsurumi Island are just sad af. I'm more scared inside that temple on Cuijue Slope, the things ancient people of Liyue must have seen.
The most unsettling part is the number of the red dots on your screen. Clear up those notifs why dont you?
I think, the most scariest thing here is the music you picked for this video. Very atmospheric
1. Chasm 2. Tsurumi island 3. Enkanomiya.
Cause you have to clear those area in order upgrade Yae, Thoma and Yunjin.
Also shenhe 💀
I might be crazy but I love Enkonomiya that I don't find it scary but relaxing because of the nature abd those blue palets colors compared the one that were shown
Same :D I love that there's even a little quest to find several rocks which you can sit on to enjoy the scenery.
Yeah, it's relaxing but at the same time it's extremely melancholic and desolate and you can feel the history of the people there through the music and the architecture and that's a big part of why it's still my favorite area in Genshin
It's even prettier when you have Layla and walk around with her since she's also blue :-)
So many disturbing places...
Only has ghosts in one of these places...
Ichigo sure is hard at work
None of them did much for me, except for nameless ruin and the withering zones in Sumeru (especially the one at the end of the Aranara quest), but nothing compares to the Abyss when the traveller ends up in the chasm in the 2.8 event. The emptiness and seemingly endless space, with the feeling of loneliness, and no way of escape got me.
Also Durin's heart, bones and blood on a snow in dragonspine
0:25 it's funny how you used the french spelling "fontaine", it shows that the new region truly had an Impact in Genshin 💀
1:21 Plus that hole in the sky was made by the All-Devouring Narwhal.
Yeah man I think the abandoned hospital did terrify me a lot
There is nothing scarier than the time you discovered Dragonspine for the first time
with the Fatal Frame soundtrack you use, the game ambience feel changed that i cant explain.
Well seems like “A very bright Place” isn’t giving a bright feeling-
the place you hear voices but dont see anybody.....
The ghosts in Inazuma were up there on unsettling for sure.
For the Traveler it's okay, but imagine being a normal human and being stuck in any of these places.
