You did the steps correctly to my knowledge! This shirt “hack” has a thing for a while but it mostly works for shirts like fundraisers or one time events. They don’t last long lmao
Glad you showed the actual iron on light transfer sheets. Definitely the way to go for making cheap custom shirts. They don't last forever but you can get quite a few washes out of them
@@kelseya9017 generally yes. A lot of what damages prints on shirts is the agitation of the washing cycle but also heat and soap can cause them to break down faster. So generally delicate wash (or handwash it) with soft clothes, and turned inside out with cool or cold water, delicate detergent, and low with short heat or complete air dry is the best bet!
Wrap your image at least 3-5 times depending on the thickness of the cling film. Heat iron to full power leave at full power for at least 5mins then begin proces. Once image is on shirt or hoodie, let it sit for at least a day indoors, go over with parchment paper next day and let it sit again outdoors on clothes line. It may take longer but its worth it.
Iron on transfers work easier and last a bit longer, but you do see some cracking after a few washes. has the same concept essentially, print the picture on the transfer and iron it on. i bought a pack of 3 for $7 i believe.
The melted saran wrap might temporarily glue the paper to the shirt, but the paper is still just paper. It's going to be stiff and crinkly while you wear it, and it's going to turn to mush if you wash it.
I love the vibe of your videos. You are laid back, but it's nice to see that you know what you are doing, and that you put that extra effort into them.
I love your creativity and the fact you put trials and errors inside the video. Like it's okay to try again after you fail at something. It's so inspiring to me. Aye, keep it up and also take care of yourself!! I hope you're staying well and healthy!! 😊🤘
i mega appreciate how you don't stop after something fails like you always try again to see if you can do something different cause then i actually know if something works or not

okay i saw this on tiktok and was like “i wonder if anyone tried before...” ‘cause i didn’t wanna wash and make a mess in my mom’s washing machine, so thank you
I've always think that this stamping process was for only a one time use because at the end u have straight paper over cloth but never tried it out, but hey u did everything right bro! This is just a one time thing... but as always ur content nothing but the best 🖤
I stopped this video at 1:44, I seen another person on RUclips do the same thing with two images. It looked way to perfect but I always wondered if it can be washed. Thanks for putting up this video.
There's a special type of paper (and maybe ink?) to use for this. But the plastic wrap thing won't work. Even if you cover enough of the image, water will be able to seep under it since the whole shirt isn't water proof. The only way this might be able to work out is if you went full out extra, and spayed the shirt with some water proofing spray.
I think this kind of DIY printing is good for making a patches. You know, to sew it on a bag or something that you don't usually wash... nice video, was curious myself, thanks for doing the experiment. :)
You can print directly onto fabric but you’d still have to bond it to whatever you wanted it on. Jean jackets are a good item to decorate that way. Essentially you are making patches, then you can sew them on, use heat bond or glue. Could you try the freezer paper method?
Have you ever tried Spoonflower? You can get any image printed onto fabric, they have a lot of base fabrics to choose from including a cotton knit. They use better quality inks and commercial fabric printing so it's brighter and more durable than inkjet printer ink. You could get your face printed on fabric and then sew that fabric onto shirts or jackets or anything, like a patch.
One way I actually got this method to work was combining the saran/plastic method and then using a fabric mod podge to seal it, with about several coats. I also like to paint custom designs along the edges to help seal them and keep the edges flat. Hope this helps if anyone wants to try it out!
Woah, I used to have a cat with fur like Toast's. We found him lost outside in the middle of winter, just a lil feller. His favorite pastime was sitting with his head up inside lampshades to absorb the lamp's heat. He was also CRAZY far sighted and couldn't see a damn thing up close.... He literally bumped into a squirrel and couldn't tell what it was, so he started blindly whacking at it. The look of utter confusion on the squirrel's face before it hopped away was hysterical.
I think stretching the shirt over a wooden or sturdy cardboard board when you iron on the graphic (with the transfer paper) might help against the cracks
Another way to do this if you want to print is to attach some material to some freezer paper by ironing it onto the waxy side, then print with an ink printer directly onto the material. Make sure to iron it after to make sure it sticks. The only problem with this is that you are limited by the size of your printer. At least I think that's how it works anyway, haven't done it in a while, but there's videos on it
I was thinking about the most durable designs for making graphic tees. That rubber ink stuff always wears off with time. The stuff that is in the cloth itself always lasts longest. So dyes for basic two tone designs, three tone, maybe four, but no small details and a risk of blending unless you maybe rinse each patch separately like in a stretcher to isolate it. Also designs woven into the clothing are the best. Love sweaters. Embroidery here too. Since all the colors were dyed and rinsed separately it doesn't mix on the first wash. I'm kind of thinking an embroidery shirt should have the base for the embroidery be made out of that really sparse backing cloth that you use for those embroidery artworks. For winter shirts embroider over heavier cloth. For the heaviest, just use wool to embroider a wool sweater. Add as many layers as desired.
There was no need to mythbust this. The plastic wrap makes it so the print can't make contact with the shirt, and the paper is cellulose fibers that breaks up in the wash.
