We have something like this in the area where I live. There is a "crisis number" that can be called (either by the police or anyone really) and they send out 2 people (more if needed). One is like a police officer who's been specially trained and the other is a mental healthcare worker. These 2 people work together to assist the police and/or family members or anyone when dealing with someone in "crisis" and needs mental help.
We don’t have enough mental health facilities to keep up with the demand smh they send them to jail, it’s just a cycle. I work at a homeless shelter and it’s more like a mental health facility than anything…Many of them are completely detached, their families have tried for years to get them help but unless you have $$ the system isn’t much help
