This guy could dribble 3 opponents like this in spite of not having Messi's speed or even basic fitness. He could cut a defence with a single pass. He was really creative. Yes, I am a Sampdoria fan but this guy was monstrous back in the day. That Sampdoria team was mainly made of good players, some excellent (Gastaldello, Palombo, Storari), one top class (Pazzini) and this guy who was on a level of his own and took them to Champions League. Not many greats could have done that. He was the most influential player of Serie A back then. One of my favorite players ever
Now imagine if he had a work ethic and trained the right way and did less dumb things outside the pitch , he could’ve really been more better than he really was at that time and I’m not judging him , cause he had a decent career and got the money but as a fan , I was just fantasising that guys like him , or Balotelli also , they had the talent since they were born , but didn’t had discipline , Cassano , who is now retired , admitted it , stating that if he had discipline , maybe he could’ve been more at Real Madrid and at least could’ve won the double of what he won and play more time , but he had the time of his life , he played , he had fun and all so I can’t blame him but sometimes I think that if he stayed focused he could’ve been a beast for more time and in a bigger team ( with all the respect to Sampdoria )

Cassano and Totti together were at times unplayable.
He was jealous of Totti and it ultimately messed up his career in terms of how far he could have went. He wasnt as good as Totti but could have been talked about alongside him and Baggio. He had the talent to be considered in their company.
Tra i 17 e i 20 anni ha fatto cose che solo i più forti giocatori di sempre hanno fatto a quell'età. Era un predestinato e un futuro pallone d'oro. Poi è successo qualcosa, ha smesso di coltivare il suo talento. Ha snobbato il Real Madrid, ha dato quello che aveva da dare alla Samp, l'ha portata in Champions e poi pian piano è sparito. Però, quanta magia in quei piedi.

Winning is not everything, I have been supporting sampdoria since the early 80's, we have had great players, vialli,mancini, gullit, Plat, cerezo, Flachi, chiesa (father), Montella, pazzini, bazzani, and many others that I did not mention, but Cassano, stands alone, only Roberto Baggio was a better player, Zola, Totti and del Piero did not have his talent and vision...

Ciò che dimostrò Cassano in quel paio di anni tra il 2007 e il 2009 a Genova è pari solo a quanto dimostrò Maradona a Napoli. Col pallone gli riusciva letteralmente ogni cosa. Vedeva linee di passaggio che gli altri non vedevano, una integrazione perfetta con i compagni, un leader totale con una etica del lavoro finalmente funzionale alla squadra. Una macchina da assist, un goleador, un trascinatore. E quanto sentiva il derby. Davvero un piacere per gli occhi questo calciatore con quella maglia.
Finalmente uno che capisce.
La Samp era una ottima squadra ma quest'uomo l'ha portato meritatamente in Champions. Il suo peso individuale non e paragonabile. Peccato che non ha mai funzionato pienamente in una grande squadra

Cassano with a bit more effort would have been the best player in the world, without any shadow of a doubt. For football ability, there has been none better that I’ve seen. As someone already said somewhere in the comments. A very very fine line exists between madness and genius, he was a football genius, but had a foot and a half in the madness column. Special special talent. Always invented something new with the ball. Not the pace of Messi, but better technical skills tbh. Messi is somewhat robotic in what he does and repeats the same thing a lot, players like Cassano are pure class, touch and unpredictable flare. These are the players I love to watch ! Will never be considered the best ever overall, but for sheer ability, top of the top !

Fortissimo l’ho visto giocare 20 volte dal vivo oltre alle tante altre partite per intero, per intenderci non giudicandolo dagli highlits, vale il prezzo del biglietto. Chiaramente parlo delle partite giocate negli anni in cui ha avuto una forma decente, quelli alla Samp alla Roma ed in parte anche nel Milan, un mostro. La ricchezza e l'opulenza ammazzano la creatività ed infatti ben poco è nato di fenomenale da famiglie ricche. Giocare per strada, con palloni di pezza, sull'asfalto oppure per spiaggia (come fanno i brasiliani) è di gran lunga meglio che giocare in campetti perfetti, dove tutto è studiato per renderti il compito leggero. Il calcio, a differenza di altri sport è prevalentemente deciso dalla genialità del calciatore. Siccome il genio nasce a caso nel mondo, non premia nè ricchi e nè poveri, semmai premia chi vive + a contatto con la vita vera piuttosto che la vita artefatta della società moderna, chi nasce genio è amato dal popolo. Il perchè è semplice.....il genio non divide il mondo in classi sociali ma premia a caso le persone nel mondo indipendentemente che tu sia ricco o povero, bianco o nero, alto o basso o bello o brutto.

@@wilsonsousa3391 Foi melhor sim. No entanto Paolo Rossi ao contrário do que alguns dizem teve muitas virtudes, era oportunista, mas se posicionava bem, estava sempre ligado no jogo e tinha o tempo certo da bola.

@@wilsonsousa3391O mais correto é classifica-lo como oportunista, e mesmo considerando a sorte, que na verdade não existe, pois na verdade é uma metáfora, ele estava sempre atento ao jogo e tinha a habilidade suficiente para fazer os gols. Mas Roberto Baggio foi muito mais longe, um estilista, ou como dizem os italianos, "um fantasista". Um dos maiores da história. Um gênio.
