Incredibly talented, probably Italy's most gifted player since Baggio. It's great pity that his wayward manner led to him never fulfilling his vast potential. It must have been extremely frustrating managing him, watching him throw almost everything away.
"Why you shouldn't comment immediately after viewing a video" A very foolish and assumptive comment there Daniel. My opinion was based off following Cassano's career ever since I watched him play for Bari when he was just 18 years old, and not a 12 minute YT video. "Most talented? Really? Not totti, del piero, pirlo? Buffon?" First of all I said probably. But yes, in my opinion (we're allowed to have different ones), Cassano is more naturally gifted than the great players that you mentioned. If he had a similar kind of drive and level of professionalism that Messi and Ronaldo have, he could have been something very special.
Giampaolo, not when it comes to natural talent, but if you're looking at it from a: professionalism, determined and resilience perspective, then I would agree with you. Baggio was immensely gifted, though his strength of character was equally as impressive. He was a real fighter. To achieve what he did when: having all of those terrible injuries, pragmatic/defensive minded coaches, playing against arguably the best defenders of all time, and making his career last until he was 37...... borders on the miraculous. There should be a film based on his story.
Dan Giambrone he not only stood out in terms of talent, but also in terms of technique, among Italian footballers; for example: Totti was a better passer than him, Pirlo a better shooter, and Del Piero, well he's arguably the most technically gifted Italian footballer ever, but apart from that, Cassano's ball control is almost unmatched in Italian football, and he has the refined technical skills of a guy who obviously spent most of his spare time playing football for hours and hours since a very young age.
10:49 Cassano made his debut in professional football just a week earlier than this match. His coach told him to start from the 1st minute against the Inter of Ronaldo, Baggio, Recoba, Vieri, Blanc, Zanetti Seedoor etc ... and he scored this winning gol at the age of 17!
He said in an interview that during his First season in Roma he was always out at night, sometimes not even sleeping before going to the training. Pure talent but poor mind.
Cassano is still my favorite player of all time. He was so entertaining and creative that I couldn't get enough of him. Players like him are once in a decade.

Cassano was a monster also.
Mustafa Ahmed he grew up without father in an part of Bari where kids sells drugs ... he did quite well the father figure he didn’t have created his character .... Zidane told him he could have been the best in the world with the right state of mind

Fuoriclasse assoluto, classe e talento indiscussi.
As a longtime Sampdoria supporter, he was absolutely phenomenal back in 2009/2010 season. One of the most impressive individual performances ever seen in footballl. Sampdoria had a good spine (Storari-Gastaldello-Palombo-Cassano-Pazzini), but he made that team a real force to be reckoned with. Anyone who watched Sampdoria that season should know what I am talking about. Forget about Messi or Ronaldo: Rivals had 11 headaches to deal with while playing Barcelona or Madrid. Cassano dragged all defenders on him and still got away oozing class. Such a pity that Garrone did not invest enough to reinforce the team in order to play Champions League. And such a pity that Sampdoria were overconfident after massively outplaying Werder Bremen in the return leg: They should have scored the fourth instead of relaxing. And even more sad that Cassano ended up his first stint at Sampdoria in such infamous way.
As a longtime Genoa supporter, I must bow to Cassano and his enormous class. I remember a derby when Cassano gave to Maggio five (5) clean assists that had just to put on the net. Maggio missed the first four, and I thought Antonio would kill him. I remember the box of Genoa's defenders Cassano had to deal on every single ball he received. No way to stop him. A pleasure to watch even for a Genoa supporter, if he loves football. Rivalry is rivalry, but top class is top class. "Belin Cassano cos'ha fatto... di nuovo!" was one of my comments.
@@carlosanguineti956 i remember that match just fine. One assist was particularily spectacular: He made a roulette to get rid of two and launched an incredible through ball. for Maggio. Great memories

Thank you so much for posting this @MatigolVidz. I am one of his biggest fans and some of this footage is new, even for me. He is by far the best player I have ever seen live. I bet he also has one of the best scoring records against Juventus too, he always seemed to score. He was so dismissive of reputations, I think this was one of his strengths. We all know what his weakness was.
😯😯😯 . Calcisticamente parlando merita solo applausi e l inchino !!

I don’t know about misunderstood. Cassano was one of those naturally talented players with little sense of responsibility or professionalism, which led coaches to see him as a child. He should have stayed in Roma and worked out things with Totti.

His story teaches you that talent alone can only get you to some point , but to be among the greatest you need to work hard . Unfortunately he didn’t have the right attitude , otherwise he probably could have won even a ballon d’or. With that being said it was so magical to see Totti and Cassano play together

A disciplined cassano would be messi like. He played in an era where coaches game freedom to their most gifted guys and it seemed like he had his fun. The problem was he hated training and whilst he's not the only dude, the difference is that others realise the importance of it. He's regretful now because he knows he could've achieved much more but at the same time i'd imagine he's content with knowing, how talented he was.

Totti's irst touch was great, but its not Cassano level. Cassano's first touch rivals Maradona/Zidane/Bergkamp/Ronaldinho as the greatest first touch of all time imo.
Perhaps the best Italian ever. Genius but too much recklessness. He could have made football history but he did only a hundredth of what he could have done.
Cassano is one of football players that i admire much.. Technically genius, clever & smart play, his dribble is not fast but silky and so smooth with not many tricky needed.. Watch how he keep the ball, dribble with composure and calm, do some trick which is needed and effective.. Seems so effortless with the ball.. One of few players with great individual skill combined with great vision and flair.. If only he had managed his own demon back then, no doubt he’ll be the best italian player on his generation.. I do watch totti, del piero, pirlo and others.. But cassano was one with all that talent above anyone else i mentioned above.. Vision just like totti, smooth dribble like del piero, playmaking like pirlo, but i will say that cassano is more intelligent players than them.. In my opinion he was just like Giani Rivera.. Elegant and smart, only flaw with dark side inside him..
Cassandra was virtually one of the most gifted players ever emerged throughout the European talented generation of late 90s and of course 2000s for many reasons. It is fair to consider him to be the most technically gifted italian footballer with his inspirational dribbling skills, superbly neat control, dazzling interplay runs, flashy spark of pace and penetrating movements in leading the attack for both his clubs and Italy, he possessed instinct sheer creativity and sharpness individually but problematic to drive the collective strength and his attitude ruined him ultimately. Being classified as one the purest Italian star technically he had a potential to be at the highest level of world’s best players to rival the likes of Henry, Iniesta, kaka and even Messi-Ronaldo but has faced a rollercoaster during his career, but after Roberto Baggio he was the most creative attacker along with Del Piero. There could be an argument to determine if he’d been transformed to the greatness of Baggi-Totti Status while characteristically was comparable to Del Piero technically or have edge over either one behind Baggio from a technical perspective. Totti had inspired creativity and artistic vision but Cassandra and Del Piero were technically magicians to change the game, Pirlo was a driving engine of playmaking creativity with his ample passing, neat footwork, exceptional free kicks and crafty skills as the best midfielder to control the game in a tactically intelligent form, but Cassano became a pure entertainer same pretty much to Baggio but like Del Piero he struggled to fully develop his genius art into a strategic success individually. Totti amplified a vital role to guid Italy and Roma winning major trophies with Del Piero inspired a delightful career loaded with several awards and partially contributed to Italy 2006 World Cup Truimph but eventually disappeared and Cassano remained a pure gifted star with a limited path in shaping legacy due to his attitude, dysfunctional behaviors and injuries
First time I saw that boy, I got scared by his natural skill and creativity. Hands down, single most unpredictable Italian player I've ever seen in terms of what he did with the ball. To be honest, cant think of any other modern player, Italian or not, that would suprise me more than Cassano with his highlights. I dont believe he wasted anything though and I dont buy the discipline thing either. Antonio did, as he was supposed to do. A great career for 99% of footballers. For as much skill as he had, he somewhat lacked in athleticism and physical attributes and he was no football pitch general either. He never had the makings of a leader of a great football team. But if you had a good structure around him and you wanted Cassano to do the unexpected and break the defense down, Cassano would probably give you those couple of moments where he made everybody look stupid.
He did waste his talent... You say that he lacked athlecism?? Yeah in later stages of his career because he was lazy... If you look at his period at Roma, he was quick, extremely quick actually, and this is what athlecism is about... Later on he lost his pace cause he was lazy and fat.. Everyone is going to remember Totti but not Cassano which is sad, Antonio was on par with Totti and this is why people say that he wasted his talent...
You cant compare his career to 99% of players, because, as you can clearly see in the video, he wasn't in the 99% of players. He has to be compared to his level of greatness, especially among his italian counterparts. If you took that into consideration, kleberson also had a career better than 99% of players, doesn't mean he isnt shit lol
Cannavaro mentioned to Iker how Cassano and Guti would have been even greater if they didn't party so much and focused more on improving. But that's life.🤷🏿♂️
If he was switched on and played consistently in the national team they prob would of won more silverware. What a player. Better than Totti and Delpiero during that same period
Everybody is talking about Cassano with Totti but his best for me was with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Zlatan kept Cassano under control and it’s a shame they had to split when Berlusconi didn’t want to pay anymore.
I agree, but from that list Adriano and to a certain extent Cassano we have seen almost their peak. Especially Adriano was worldclass for a season or more. We can't say that from Balotelli. Quaresma showed good form in Turkey, but not at world stage
Some players would not be so great without being a little crazy in their minds. We have great players like Ronaldo, Messi and Pele, but we also have these crazy guys like Cassano, Ibrahimovic, Maradona, Gascoigne......I think football would be boring without the crazy guys :)
As a serie a lunatic, I wasted my talent too, just like Cassano and Adriano did. I should watch epl, maybe i can follow Joey Barton as an role model.. Oo My poor career

Amen
And nevertheless he wasn't called to play for Italy world Cup 2010... 9 gol and 9 assist in the season
What a shame!! Lippi son of a bitch

Del Piero, Baggio, you forgot best italian player...Francesco Totti!

If you took that into consideration, kleberson also had a career better than 99% of players, doesn't mean he isnt shit lol
unfortunately he lacked only in mental stability, otherwise noone could have stopped him from a top player career
