My cousin had extreme autism, and she never vandalized any cars...and while not ideal obviously, that was the most softcore little nudge of a "slap" i have ever seen, and its going to blow into this big dramatic thing. Not everyone who is autistic behaves the same, unfortunately some have it more severe than others. He could’ve made a police report, but his anger got the best of him and he assaulted that child. He should be charged.
Attorneys should be lining up to represent this family in a lawsuit.
I hope they do because they will have to divulge their immigration status in the proceedings. I bet the child will be much happier and feel much safer in a country where everyone speaks the same language as him.

The incident happened in the middle of the road at a red light intersection when the boy & sister was crossing the street, the guy turned around to the bus stop where they were and confronted them there

I saw the full video, although the video captured the aftermath of the incident, it was clear that the child broke the emblem that was at the end of the car by bending it. I don't condone what the guy did to the child, but tell the whole story. The boy didn't just touch the emblem, he walked up to it, and broke it. The family says that they knew for many years that the boy would go out of his way to touch almost everything, yet the person handling him felt the need to disregard this fact when they were watching him. I'm sorry, but it's the family's fault. If I have a dog that's known to bite people, and it bites someone, I'm still responsible. It dosn't matter if I'm homeless or not, it's still my responsibility. End of story
Yep I knew there was more to this, typical of media to just show the kid getting slapped as if he did nothing. Maybe the slap will tell the kid that it’s wrong, unlike the parents letting him do what ever while they were watching.

I own a Mercedes Benz and the emblem is attached to a spring, you bend it and it goes back to normal. The kid never broke anything.

Everyone needs to calm down. The kid damaged this mans 100k car and is laughing so the guy barely grazed the side of his face with his finger tips. They cut out the 5 minutes of "No Habla" and the proof the kid actually broke the hood ornament. Man walks past the front of his car to get in drivers seat , then goes back to the ornament and it cuts before you can see him try and stand it back up because it falls over again proving the spring is broken from the vandals action.

I had a neighbor that just moved out like two months ago that had an autistic son. He kept messing around with the doorknob on my front door for over a year multiple times a week and it got annoying. One day I was in my kitchen cooking food and saw the door open and the kid opened my door and walked inside my apartment. The mother was outside just watching her son walk inside a neighbors apartment without the neighbors consent. Had asked the mother to please pay more attention to your son. About three months later after the interaction the neighbor moved out.
I have a daughter with autism she likes touching stuff too but I would never let her touch something it's not ours. I don't even allow her get close to any cars.

I saw the full video, although the video captured the aftermath of the incident, it was clear that the child broke the emblem that was at the end of the car by bending it. I don't condone what the guy did to the child, but tell the whole story. The boy didn't just touch the emblem, he walked up to it, and broke it. The family says that they knew for many years that the boy would go out of his way to touch almost everything, yet the person handling him felt the need to disregard this fact when they were watching him. I'm sorry, but it's the family's fault. If I have a dog that's known to bite people, and it bites someone, I'm still responsible. It dosn't matter if I'm homeless or not, it's still my responsibility. End of story.

I'm being very objective when I say this. But the parents should teach the kid that not everyone will like having their personal property touched by just anyone. Sure, he never meant any harm and yes I know he is disabled. And yes, the man himself was out of line for smacking him. But at the same time, I think the parents need to let him know that touching anything (0:50 - 0:53), including things that don't belong to him, is not always something he should do. In no way, shape, or form am I defending the man's action for hitting the kid. Far from it - it's an act that was largely unwarranted and uncalled for. However, the kid, regardless of his disability, probably shouldn't approach people just by touching whatever belongs to them. As this scene showed, not everyone will be as understanding or they won't take kindly to people touching their personal property without consent. Or even touching them, for that matter.

Two things. If your kid has autism and tends to touch things, you have to manage him better to avoid damaging another’s property. If your property was damaged or touched by a kid with autism, you don’t slap the kid. You talk to the parents and figure things out.
