    So Jenny, even though this quilt is from 2013 it is still so wonderful. How quick and easy and perfect. So many times I go to a quilt show and am amazed by all of the quilts. But still I see these beautiful simple quilts that are so perfect. Thank you.

    This tutorial is almost exactly 6 years old, yet everything is still the same. That's the really good thing about quilting ... No matter the pattern or the fabric, it's still a quilt ... Made with love for someone we love or sold for income. So many things change with time, but not the basic for or why a quilt is done. Love your tutorials, Jenny! Keep 'em comming.

    Incredible. I am a new quilter and have wondered how to make a snowball block. Whenever I am around other quilters they say, "And you know how to make a snowball block...." I am too embarrassed to say no. Thank you, Jenny. I am going into the sewing right now and make some so that I won't forget how to do it. I just LOVE this site!

    At least you are in the same country! I am way south in Australia and we don't have many quilt shops here. The shop we had in my town recently closed as the owner finally thought it was time to retire. We sorely miss her!!! Jenny needs to "come on down" for a visit! (Free room and board of course! :-) )

    back in 2000, I tried making a baby quilt, didn't know how to properly bind it. I then bought a book on quilting that came with patterns, never tried them. Now years later I decided to try again, saw a 'bubble' or 'biscuit' quilt on youtube. your video on binding helped me get it right this time, now I want to make more quilts (after I finish hand quilting the bubble quilt I binded it before quilting between the bubbles) and went & bought my first mat, ruler, & rotary cutter, now to decide on a design to try.

    What would it look like if you use the 5" square in each corner to snowball the block. It should come out to a point, leaving a triangle shape in the center. Can Jenny do one like that so I can see it? Maybe use the layer cake for the large square and use the background fabric to snowball it.

I have some boy fabric with all different trucks on it and was think about fussy cutting each of the different trucks out for the snowball block and then make the four patch blocks in colors to match the trucks.

    Your layer cakes seem to have straight edges rather than pinked edges, do you take the time to trim them before using them? How many of the pieces of the layer cake do you use to make the four patches, and how many for the snowballs? The quilt in the background was seven blocks wide, but I can't tell how many for the length.

    It's unclear how much of the layer cake you use to make the 4-patch blocks and how many need to be left over to make the snowball corners. Could you clarify how many blocks you made for the quilt displayed and how many layer cake pieces we should use for 4-patches and corners? Thank you! Love this quilt!

    How big is the completed quilt? I am pretty sure I have enough material to make the four patch and corners of snowball, for a queen size quilt but don't know how much to buy of the white. Would the 3 yards be enough?

  • @susancjohnson1515
    @susancjohnson1515 10 лет назад +1

    I was wondering how many rows down this quilt is. The sample is 7 across but I am assuming that it is 8 rows down? If I am correct that means I should reserve 7 layer cake blocks for my snowball corners? is the first border cut 2.5"? I am just trying to insure that I purchase enough fabric. Thank you for answering our questions! Love your tutorials

    • @54nonnie
      @54nonnie 9 лет назад

      Susan, - there is a disconnect when she says sew all the cake pieces for the 4 patches, and then says to use them for the corners. My solution is to pick out some stuff from my stash. Disappointed that no one has responded to your message.

    • @kerigiddens4557
      @kerigiddens4557 9 лет назад +4

      Yes, I believe it is 8 rows down, so you would use 28 of your layer cake squares for the 4-patches, 7 for the snowball squares and you will have a few left over. I know she says "all of your layer cake" but since you need 28 4-patch units you would only need to use 28 of the cake squares to make them (unless you are wanting to make a larger quilt) Good Luck!

    • @54nonnie
      @54nonnie 9 лет назад +1

      thank you Keri for clarifying that. I don't need to make mine bigger, so 28 sounds fine.

    If this quilt is 7 rows across and 8 rows down then it would have 28 four patch blocks (28 layer cakes) That would mean it also has 28 snowball blocks. I believe that it would take 7 layer cakes to make the snowball corners. From one layer cake you get enough blocks for 4 snowballs. Thats if it is the 7 across and 8 down. Just my guess. :-)
