I can't help, but think that while Joker's Velvet Room was a prison because he couldn't do anything, Wonder's Velvet Room looks like the ocean because he's either drifting and not caring or he's drowning in all of it.
Yeah he seems to have more of a aloof and lazy appearance than Joker so you might be right about that? Wish they’d add more of a personality to the main characters. Something like Wonder meeting comrades and fighting the corruption in peoples hearts he finds purpose. At least I think that’d be interesting…
@@aaaawubadugh8054 I agree, since the central theme of this game seems to be about have a strong desire and grow out of apathy. It's a great contrast to Joker who suppressed his desire to help people and make a change, this protagonist is more about growing out of his apathy and gain a desire to make a change.

It's kinda like Joker yearning for freedom while Wonder, ironically already has freedom but doesn't know where to go, unlike Joker with a clear reason to yearn for freedom
I actually just noticed something Wonder never went to the metaverse before meeting the owl yet he was able to understand him and the owl mentioned something about a promise between them while Wonder is clearly confused, I suspect Wonder entered the metaverse before and met the owl but lost his memory.

@@Milagros_S it was still kouki uchiyama, the first beta had complaints about voice acting(for some reason), so they probably asked kouki to redo those lines in a more lively direction instead of the more stoic one the original beta went for

I like how the shadows are scared of wonder when he awakens, as in p5/p5 royal if your overleveled compared to shadows in mementos they will run away from you.
This happens in just about every protagonist awakening, they’re extremely overpowered in that awakening and then it gets turned down a tad after
@@nitinankuit's moreso that the weakest shadows available can take out a normal human without even trying so they don't bother sending in the strong ones to deal with people with no persona until after they awaken

The lack of blood weakens the impact imo, but I guess there's not much you can do about that in China.
thought the same, however the chinese show Link Click (at least season 2) has had a good amount of blood in some episodes

@@cum4044 you may be right, though the censorship in P5X, at least from what we've seen so far, looks weird. for example, they didn't cover up Ann's chest, but they changed some aspects with a lot of personas like Angel, Succubus, Mara etc

we can hope it gets added back in with the other versions. Might look better there.
I'm Japanese and I hope this game will be released worldwide. Even if this game isn't very good, I think it's fun to be able to go to the world of Persona 5 again. (This is a sentence using Google Translate, so it may be a little strange)

yeah, in the first beta there was something about a website where people upload videos of themselves attacking people or riding bikes into them in public. im not sure how accurate that is because it was just a machine translation, but that's what it seemed to say.
I just hope if they put this out internationally, they will uncensor everything, like, there was no blood at all when he pulled out his mask.

Not as good as the original p5 but still the characters have that psychotic look on their faces when they awaken their personas.

Important story scenes might be, but I dont expect the full game to get dubbed like the rest of the series (outside of poor Persona Q2, love ya anyways, bud), at least not at the start

Everything looks so much smoother i love it. Only thing is i wish the damage numbers in battle were a little bigger cuz its hard to see. It probably looks different playing it though
I like how they redid the awakening scene. Granted, I thought it was a little cool how Wonder didn't rip off his mask and just straight-up summoned Janosik and got the mask afterward, it made him feel unique compared to the others, but eh, whatevs.

Why no blood!? That really made the P5 awakenings hit hard to me.
It's being released primarily in China, blood is a HUGE no over there unfortunately. Hopefully, if it comes to the west, they'll add the blood back in.

yeah it will be inevitable become that once they release more character, persona storyline isn't made for long term story span over the year, Introducing character every 40 day going to make them all blend together especially with persona 5 very distinct art style for the phantom thief uniform

Looks like they both improved and messed up at the same time😅, Wonder doesn't look actually beat up or dirty like the first beta, but now the summon/Awakening looks a bit better with the added ripping off the mask scene. If China censorship didn't ax the blood it would have been better

It's probably because we didn't see a lot of this game, it originally seemed like a half assed Persona 5 2, however it does seem like it actually has some good production value behind it and maybe a decent story. I'm still optimistically cautious, and reminder, we didn't get any other ATLUS projects announced before this, so seeing "just more P5" probably hurt a few people

The only "bad" things I see are only 2: the first is not having blood when tearing the mask and the second is the mask he wears while the persona is activated (in other games of P5 the point is literally to be you without the mask so you can show your true self so there is no point in using a second mask)
Well when Wonder puts the mask you no see Yanosik behind him so this just a scene to see the MC with the mask in in-game cutscene

also another thing, wonder very obviously repurposes the rigging for jokers outfit. thats why he has sort of a cloak thingie at the end of his shirt? its not a big deal, i definitely dont care about reused assets cuz imo they did it fairly well here. but its just a bit obvious especially when hes moving and from behind, which is where we’ll see him most when playing

This awakening has about the same impact as Yu's had. The blood and screams of pain in Ren's awakening made it hit so hard, P3's awakening (in cutscene form) was dripping with tension and fear... Yu crushed a card and Wonder burst into pretty lights. I'm not impressed.
Yeah, Yu and Wonder's awakenings are underwhelming. Against a bunch of basic shadows? Come on, they could have done much better than that. Makoto and Joker had drama behind theirs.
Now that you mention it, i wonder how they'll change the P3 protag's awakening in the upcoming remake?

yus awakening was the lamer one of the 3 but its still pretty good in some ways. his eyes dilating, the build up and music. def could be better but it wasnt awful

While this does all look neat, honestly this game is seeming like just a repeat of P5 pretty much, just with different characters, and only substitutes to the palaces from the original instead of anything totally new. The fact mementos is a thing at all is absurd, since it 100% went away after P5. While I do like the character designs and everything, with everything being so censored and everything being targeted at a younger audience, it does feel like a lot was stripped away for this. It is most likely not coming to japan (though if it did, it would make sense tbh), but I do not see this coming to the west. If it did, I WOULD play it and give it a shot, but it just does not look to be anything like what I enjoyed before.
I mean...Mementos was in Scrambles and Royal not like the ending of P5 should remove a titles ability to use something like Mementos
As for censorship people are really being biased. Wonder is a MC who lacks ambition walking through life without a purpose or meaning

The MC Parents actually exist and speak with the him. He's fairly privileged compared to the other Persona protagonist. Even the first dungeon has similar but different tone to base P5

Well I wouldn't go that far judging by the two palaces we've seen and the first palace ruler. There's clearly some originality here. As for Mementos, doesn't Morgana literally call it the Collective Unconscious? I always assumed once they destroyed it, it was rebuilt just without Yaldabaoth
