FYI for Honda's with the K-Series engines you can check the starter by breaking into starter subharness up top. There's a connector you can disconnect designed especially for attaching an ignition jumper.
I believe the starter gear that is meant to pop out, needs to be spinning. It seems to be designed to "spiral" out against the spiral-grooved shaft. Even if it was spinning, it might need a small resistance against the gear for the it to pop out.
This is a crap shoot for my current situation. I am currently stuck. My car has been acting up for about two weeks now. Does this exact thing. It was torquing and would take about 5 seconds of torquing to start. Now it stopped torquing and just make a very small sound of what would be torquing. My battery is good. Even when I turn the key to “accessory” position the fan and radio turns on. Is there anyway to reach the starter from the top? Like to tap on it to try to get it started?
I just took it out through the bottom on a two post lift. Why anybody in a shop would ever take it out of the top, I don’t know. It’s so easy underneath.
This is a very well done video with good thorough checks and a somewhat difficult starter change-out done the best and easiest way. Thanks
Glad it helped
I watched a few and yours is best detailed and best explained. Thx for your efforts.
I appreciate that!

you pull it from the top as long you arer willing to remove a couple of parts on its way
It's easy enough to remove the splash pan underneath. You can tap on the starter from below.
Remove the two 8mm bolts on the back of the actual starter.removing that half of the starter will expose the long pita 14mm bolt
thats a good idea next time ill try that ..thank you
great idea
Apa penyebab nya itu kalau lampu aki nya tidak muncul di spidometer nya 🙏

I have a crab 2008 and I had the starter go out and I change it . 3 months later the starter went out again ??
Poor quality part i think
Probably a cheap starter or you got yourself a remanufactured starter. Better off buying new
Rebuild it yourself. Those starters are expensive, even for a rebuilt one.
Over 8 it must be like a train tunnel by now you could probably hear an echo
YOU CAN PULL THE STARTER FROM THE BOTTOM!!!!!!
yup u can but u have to remove the intake manifold throtlebody etc...
You did not bench test that starter properly, there was no starter to battery connection only starter signal voltage applied!
theres a big positve wire connected directly to battery and a small positive wire connected to ur ignition
My door open doesn’t make that noise. They said my battery is good .
what is your question brother
No changes on the voltage?...wth
